Hi, I have a problem with static objects (such as gates in WvW) causing fps loss when I am near them. Another example is the last boss in CoF – when the molten barriers are raised I see significant fps loss, despite there not being anything graphically intensive about them as far as I can tell, and CPU / GPU usage is not particularly high. Is there some kind of video setting and/or workaround I’ve missed to reduce the FPS loss from these objects? Thanks.
On the contrary, I’ve found the story quests to get better as the levels go by (playing as vigil). I’m only 57 so far though.
I’m not trying to be presumptuous, but do you click your abilities from the hotbar with the mouse, or use easily accessible hotkeys to activate them? The latter is far more efficient and might enhance you’re experience if you’re struggling and have yet to try it.
The Elder Scrolls theme was reused three times because it was a staple of that series, and a different theme altogether would’ve felt out of place. It was quite well varied, and variations on a theme are perfectly legitimate. If you’re looking for something richer and more evocative than these, to the point whereby you’re complaining on forums, perhaps you should look beyond the gaming music scene to actual classical music, both historic and new. There’s plenty about, although I’m sure it won’t live up to your lofty expectations, defined by Jack Walls’ magnum opus.
I’d also like to express some thanks for making what is so far a great and immersive game. Exploring the content I get a real feeling for the amount of work and (perhaps more importantly) enjoyment that went into creating the world.
I disagree. I think Jeremy Soule’s music is very evocative, particularly his pieces for the Elder Scrolls series. That piece by Jack Wall is hardly ‘iconic’, it’s just one big generic, space themed crescendo. And if you’re going to try and slam possibly the most revered band of all time in a backhanded comment, at least spell ‘The Beatles’ correctly.
The character creation seems pretty polished and detailed to me. The relative lack of facial types is compensated for by the ability to adjust the sliders for minute details. I thought the Sylvari character creation process was great – try that if you’re looking to make a stand-out character.
I agree with all these complaints, and think it’s perfectly reasonable to at least provide the option for players to change them in settings (except perhaps FoV, as this could confer an advantage). I for one can’t stand the camera accelleration and smoothing present in the game – in fact I would go so far as to say that this camera is the most unwieldy and least responsive that I have ever encountered in a game. The actual game itself, however, is brilliant – so I would love to see these gripes addressed.
Some people’s opinions on the matter of LFG are so unsavory that they are painful to read. The difference between finding a pickup group for a 5 man in chat, and queueing for one, is simply a matter of time. Nobody wants to be bored while playing a game, and this mechanic cuts out the boring activity of looking for a group. I can scarcely believe that someone has been derided for being ‘lazy’ for wanting this feature – this makes GW2 sound like a job rather than a game, which seems to me like something the developers have taken huge steps to avoid.
People need to get it into their heads that WoW did not fail because of the introduction of the optional LFG system. It failed because the only decent content it could offer was raiding, and mmo’s should be about far more than that. I (and I believe many others) would welcome a LFG system, as when I find time to play this game, I don’t want to spend it trying to organise my fun – I expect it to be there for me to enjoy.
