Ah, you are correct. I think I had a different build open in my browser when I looked at it.
Not that one I have posted, but it is an option. I’ll post a link for you, and you can fill in your weapon, rune, and accessory choices (I like to mix and match with berserkers, but that is a personal preference).

This is a very basic skeleton layout, so that you can add in the weapons you’d like and runes, and switch around accessories and accessory upgrades as necessary. Also, when it comes to utility selection, what was described in the original posts still applies, although I now believe that Sun Spirit does more damage against targets that can burn than Frost Spirit.
Would this not be better with condi gear instead of knights?
In the current meta (wvw mind you) a warrior is invaluable right next to guardians in the melee train. GvG fights do not bring rangers as anything they can provide (again WvW) is brought better by another class. That said, I’ve never inferred that rangers aren’t fun and cannot be an asset to a group. I live by play what you enjoy as you will be better at it than playing what is fotm. But if we’re comparing the two in the current WvW, rangers lose hands down.
p.s. I play a ranger as well as a warrior
A hammer warrior in the melee train for zvz guild fights / wvw is priceless. That same ranger who can win 1v1’s, brings nothing to larger group fights.
No one is a) forcing you to run the build, or b) forcing you to solo with it. Some people like the challenge of doing unconventional things.
Because there isn’t an emote that says, “hey now, you leave me alone because I’m just running back to my zerg!”
What gear set up would you recommend for this for WvW.
As the title says, I’m looking for a LB to run with the zerg during off hours when I’m not running my hammer melee train build. In short, I can guesstimate the build set up. However, should I use berserker gear or condi gear for the most bang for my buck?
Not everyone wants to use grenades. I personally can’t stand grenades.
Thanks for the tips!
As an aside, I’ve always thought of the HGH of more of a solo/small man build. Would it work well in a zerg setting? If so, what kind of gear would you use? Assuming not so much condi gear if running EG and FT? Pistol/Pistol I know is condi gear damage.
p.s. enjoyed your vids Amadeus

As the title says, I’m looking for a FT/EG build that will work running in a large guild group (generally 20+) in tier 1 going against zergs. I’m relatively new to engineer, having spent most of my time on guardian. I know Amodeus had a build posted with the EG/FT, but it seemed more appropriate for soloing than zerg busting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I came up with the following, but since I’m at work I’m not sure if this is updated with the latest changes from yesterday. I assume it isn’t. I also think I’m missing something, but not sure what. One last, I don’t have ascended yet so any suggestions please don’t list ascended.
I know they’re bad damage – just get a laugh that on a class where the bow is pretty much the iconic weapon, people don’t want to use it.
This is a problem with the bow skills (Long Range Shot should be static damage and far faster) and the fact that our coefficients are seriously low because a) Anet wants a melee only game, b) our pets are supposed to be 40%+ of our damage, and we’re balanced around 100% pet uptime and hitrate.
You’re missing the point. People would gladly use the bows if they weren’t so terribad.
100 gold my pet could solo the OP while I run in circles….at least until they nerf it.
Lets be honest, most of these teams wouldn’t last a few seconds in 8v8 in DAOC.
Where if you let Theurgist/Sorc/Minstrel/Bonedancer/Animist pets run amok in the fight you’d lose.
So true…. it boggles my mind when devs (in this case Anet) chooses to nerf something because bad players can’t learn how to play. Pets drop in seconds when good players focus them, but lets nerf their dps anyway because bads just let the pet solo them while trying to kill the ranger.
p.s. pet soloing someone is an exaggeration, before someone gets moody.
Frankly I want a refund. Anet completely lied in their manifesto, which is why I bought this game in the first place. Anet claimed there would only be horizontal gear progression… made it 3 whole months before reverting on that. WvW was already declining, and now you’re adding a gear advantage to those who grind for it. Grats on doing exactlty what will make people play even less in WvW.
