So this might sound odd but.. got my way up to 77 now, aspiring warrior. Up until now the game has been fun, but once I hit straits of devastation, gameplay became.. somewhat less enjoyable.
Why you may ask? There is almost nothing to do. Sometimes you come across an even you actually CAN do solo, but many times it’s a group event, or try as I might, the NPC guardians get overwhelmed before I can finish off the mobs etc.
To add to the issue, it feels like there is /no one/ in those zones anymore, I only literally met one person while I was in straits today, on dragonbrand. This can’t be right, can it? And if so, the events could do with a bit of tweaking, so that you actually can complete them all by yourself, if there is no one nearby. Else, how is anyone supposed to get anything done? It frankly gets boring doing the push on the southern assault, only to get pushed back every time on the subsequent quest, for instance.
Or to hold brassclaw, only to see that the next quest in the chain is a group event you don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of completing.
I’ve played long enough – and read enough – that I don’t consider myself a total noob, and I have played plenty of MMOs etc before. So I highly doubt that I’m just that incompetent that I can’t solo events – and even skill challenges – anymore, when before this point, I could do so just fine.
I have a D/D sylvari elementalist who pretty much destroys PvE stuff, very fun. Was looking for another class, but I guess we will see what I do. Tempted to use a guardian to give us more survivability, but it’s a tough decision. We might try actual combo field play though.
Warrior is what I’m trying, dual axe actually. Problem is, my survivability is near zero. 3+ mobs usually mean I get downed hard and fast, especially when dealing with ascalonian ghosts. We only just hit 20 mind you. Running for great justice, banner of defense, and signet of the dolyak, speccing into toughness to take down the incoming damage some. But to no avail. It feels like my D/D elementalist can waltz right on through 4+ mobs and live, whilst my warrior chips a bit at their HP and then flops over. Maybe I just need more traits to be viable, but what I’ve seen in the warrior forums wasn’t too encouraging
So, since I’ve tried doing a warrior together with my friend’s engineer – and after being downed WAY more frequently than him and learning that warrior is basically the jack of all trades but master of none – I would like some advice.
Right now we are early in the game and i am sorely tempted to level something that would complement him better, since we play those two characters exclusively together.
I haven’t found any such topic just yet here, so I’m asking outright. Are there any classes that would go well with an engineer? He seems to be sticking to rifles right now, but could probably be persuaded to change his loadout based on what people say here. I’m mostly looking to hear if there are better choices than a warrior, since the class doesn’t seem to click with me. My D/D elementalist can destroy enemies and is MUCH more survivable, whilst my warrior plinks away at mobs and often chain-downs.
I’m grateful for any advice and input here, thanks in advance guys.
So, this pretty much only happens in the black citadel. Basically, I zone in, walk toward emperors core. My FPS drop to about 2-5. In conversations it is all nice and smooth again, but even going to another zone entirely will retain the low frame rate (usually pushing 40-60 depending on scenery, max details).
Once I quit the game and log in again, it’s fine once more, and I can play for hours on end. But emperors core – or getting near it, like near the factorum – just destroys my FPS instantly, and it stays low no matter where I go afterwards.
Any general ideas what it could be? I’m running windows 7, a gtx580, 3ghz quadcore and 8 gigs of ram. Max details (except native sampling) in guildwars, and the 306 WHQL drivers that were recommended.
