Really? How come after deciding to screw around with a Mesmer playing some random build that I didn’t understand at all I was able to do equally good as when playing elementalist?

(To make that more clear: I played ele in beta, leveled and ele to 80 a week or so after release, and have played around 100 pvp games as ele—then I got bored and am waiting for more competitive PvP. I have played 5 games as a mesmer and am pretty sure I contribute more to the team and could 1v1 my ele. Sure Mesmer isn’t a thief, but its really not that difficult.)

Dropping targets constantly when they go out of your sight is a known bug, not much he can do about it unless he cranks his mouse camera sensitivity up and just keeps spinning his camera around.

Is this a known bug? I kept being switched to targeting his pet but wasn’t sure why. Keeping on top of targeting is also one of the higher skill caps of playing Elementalist cause you’re often spamming too many keys to take time to tab correctly. Watching the replay, I’m sure that if I played it a bit better I could have won, but I’m assuming the same thing goes for him!

This is honestly the first 1v1 that wasn’t against a guardian that I didn’t win. Before this, Guardian’s were the only class i’d played against that could sustain as much as my build (I’ve mostly played sPvP so probably just because everyone is a glass cannon thief xD ). Its really great to see people branching out with their builds and making the combat more interesting!

Ah I think I fixed the video. Youtube was “autostabalizing” it and messing it up. The edits will take a bit to fix though sorry bout that xD

No comments about the ranger build? It may just be that I’ve only played bad rangers but I’ve never faced one with that kind of sustain before!

I’d heard the word on the street was Ranger needed some rework, but this guy was fantastic! What build do you think he was running?

Hmm I tried playing a S/D condition build in PvE but found it was a bit limiting. Have you tried doing D/D? I prefer it because it gives you AoE condition skills in both Fire and Earth instead of just fire which is really helpful for taking down mobs.

Second, I just discovered how to film Gameplay with MSI Afterburner. Making a Youtube channel with Gameplay, guides, etc seems like a lot of fun! My first recording is:

I play two PvP builds. This one is the condition damage sustain build. More explanation in the link.

The other build (will add later probably) is a kiting/crit build. I find this build to be more fun, but it doesn’t have as much use on an organized team. (Listening to easily countered thieves complain in a sPvP match is so rewarding xD )

Both builds focus on adding some survivability to the elementalist. It takes some time to learn the counters to each other class, but these builds should get you started (e.g. getting wrecked by a Thief? Mist Form or Earthquake when they stealth to counter half their damage!)
