That’s wouldn’t encourage new builds. That would encourage people to throw away a valuable mechanic us rangers have.
Ofc would encourage new builds. More options always offer more builds. And if this mechanic is valuable none will turn it off.
I find the idea of stow pet perma plusgetting a basic buff on dmg, the most logical thing exist. I would say 20% boost would be more ideal. And then let people choose. It would their choice and gamestyle, as also up to them to decide if its valuable or not.
Thats what i am saying from the 1st day of the “fix” nerf. How to solve the bot problem? Nerf the class they use. Easy and cheap fix, but problem of bots was not solved apparently and ranger problem arise.
I still remember the “amasing” comment of Jon Peters, that rangers was abusing auto atk too much and that had to be reversed. Players or bots he meant? I guess we all know the answer

Ranger has lower DPS than tank builds of other classes.
Your role in a team is to be a burden. People will essentially be carrying you while you contribute barely anything to the team.
As for weapons, considering they all suck, just take one which seems fun. Greatsword, longbow, and axes never cease to bore me.
Spirits suck. As for the other utilities: our shouts suck as well, and the only somewhat decent signet we have is Signet of the Wild. Traps are decent when traited into them. Several of our survival utilities are average.
Beastmastery is worth investing in if you want to pretend that your pet can actually hit something, or for when you want to pretend you’re supporting your team with heals.
All pets die when sneezed upon. In WvW, your best bet are ranged pets as they die less often. For sPvP, dogs should do the trick.
Warhorn is the only viable swiftness we have. We have an elite with an atrocious cooldown and we can gain a few seconds of swiftness when swapping weapons if traited, but it requires you to be in combat.
The elite spirit is decent in certain specific situations. The AoE root is good for PvE kiting or against dumb PvPers. Rampage As One is our only source of stability, so it’s almost a must in PvP.
Runes depend entirely on your build. I use Dwayna because I like to pretend I make a good substitute for a support guardian (which I don’t.)
Rangers have one 4-second quickness on demand during which you cannot heal. You can also trait into having 2 seconds of quickness whenever you swap pets in combat. That would be every 20 seconds if I’m not mistaken.
Finally, if you want a DPS alt to warrior, this is not the class for you. Pick thief or hell, even a guardian.

But among all those I did try, I love ranger the most. So far, I’m level 20, and I only died in one part – story quests when someone goes trigger happy and lures like 10 mobs to me. Otherwise, I don’t die.
When you lvl up, you will rediscover how much fun and bug free it is. Ow wait…
I am getting bored watching some people trying to proove that rangers have “some” problems, but other than that its our fault cause we did not learn the class good. Really?
Rangers are the worst class by far atm on pvp and wvw. In farm its pretty ok with axe and torch and sometimes SB, but thats it. I play ranger in all the games i play so far, and never had a problem to put out the best of them, even if some problems existed.
I have 4 chars all exotic, and i find the ranger the worst class by far atm. I play other classes and not only i am good at them, but i have fun also. I put 100% on my mesmer or my warrior and i destroy people. I play with ranger, giving my 150%, and i seriously luck effectiveness and fun.. Cause the class is simply broker. And watching some people trying to proove that is not like this i just laugh. Even the designers say that our class need considerable fixes. And i do not find it fun, to be a bunker for example, with all my survival skills on, cause i am a ranger, not a guardian. Not to mention that i try bunker set-up on my warrior and on my elementalist, and they are way more fun, way more effective and they do way more dmg than a bunker ranger does.
So why to play a class, that does absolutly everything worst than all the other classes, plus it needs considerable more efford to achieve that? Why do i have to bother to convince people that, hey the class is ok, learn to play it. I find that insulting to my mentality as also i find these people showing too much e-ego.
I have 12k killson wvw, got every possible exotic armour set and accesory on my ranger, as i try all the traits extensivly. And different runes like ranger, pack, lyssa, centaur etc.
And everything a ranger can do, other classes can do way more easy and effective.
Bottom line. Equal skill player on ranger and any other class, ranger loose. So why torment my self? Its a game, that i want to play on my free time and have FUN? Not get frastrated. And the reason why rangers rely so much in past on quickness, was that it was the only reliable burst we had to kill someone. We seriously luck burst. And to see people claiming that with long bow are pawning people it just making me laught. Imagine them to try rifle warrior, they will be gods then.
From 100% of my playing time with ranger, after the “animation” fix-nerf, i play him now 10% of my time, mostly ori gather and some random pve or pvp. After the nerfmi level up warrior, mesmer and ele. And i am having really fun with them.
And actually rifle warrior is not the best substitute for ranger, in my opinion GS Mesmer is. Amasing dmg, amasing mobility, a lot of conditions and amasing bursts. Also hide as bonus. So why play ranger? Also i never obstructed on mesmer as on warriors kill shot, i get obstructed way often.
After all this time i seriously dout that ranger will be really fixxed. And i feel so bad when i see all the work i make to have the multiple sets, skins, weapons etc got so much wasted. I get so frastrated when i see that character on my char loading screen that i think one day i will just deleted it to make a necro instead.
I hope they will do something, but i seriously dout it. They clearly do not care for this class. As their information and presence to this forum shows, as the luck of real actions to help our class.

Mr. JonPeters. From your reply i can tel that you try to justify what happent either intented or by mistake, and you do not give us an answer. What class is not spamming auto atk? Have you ever play an mmo and say this?
I spend 300 hours to make my ranger who is and the day i finished all my exotic sets and weapons and was ready for all day fun you put this huge “small fix”. I do not care if bots where rangers using SB or the pets was too heavy for the game engine to handle.
What i know is that this class has no other great viable weapon. And instead of fixing or tuning a little bit the rest problematic weapons-set ups you destroy the only we had?
I rerrol already and i use my character as ori and wood gatherer until i level up my new main Mesmer. I mention my time spend, my energy spend, my real money to expand slots and take armour skins. Where is the respect for your clients? I have more than 10 years in MMO always on hi-end content mainly pvp. Never see something like this that happent here.
Hope to be fixed soon. Not receive an other ignorate answers trying to excuse the mistake that we all see, instead of correnting thing, destroying the only good choice of a class i love.
And if you think that i am mistaken and unfair. Just log your character (if you got one) and check WvW how many rangers exist anymore. Dying species from all point of view.
