I guess I’ll have to find out if it’ll be gpu bottlenecked when I test them like Sirsquishy said earlier.
you should be experience a cpu bottleneck. Both amd and intel have processors faster than a core 2 duo. In fact, apple a7 ( yes, the ones in a iphone) can beat a core 2 duo in benchmarks.
Your fps will go up upgrading your cpu but how much is the real question. I try to accurate explain your gains and your current against setup against the hardware upgrade. I am trying to display as much information as a I can that is easy to understand.
I think you might be right that hd4400 might be faster than my gt 630 but still I have to test them both to see any difference. Thanks.

Your GT630 is weaker then an HD5570, My HD5570 was capable of 40FPS in medium settings at 1600×900 in most areas.
Youll want to make sure your GPU isnt stressed to much, else you will not really see a huge benefit on the CPU upgrade. So disable shadows, Reflections, and probably set shaders to Low, until you get a better GPU.
I would suggest a r7 260x 2GB card (they vary between 99 and 119, you can get them on sale quite often at newegg.com), as for your resolution you should be able to play the game on high settings with the i3 and 260×.
If you upgrade your monitor to a 1080P display then youll want to look at an i5 and atleast something in the R7 270 – R7 280x range (look at benchmarks and such) for the best visual display GW2 has to offer.
Thank you for your suggestion.
About the GPU upgrade I was planning to buy the gtx 750 ti over the 260x do you think it’s more powerful or slight difference?Honestly, the 750Ti is only 8-12% faster then the 260×. But costs nearly 50 more. I would stay with a 260x due to cost, and save for a bigger better card down the road.
for comparison,
Cost analysis.
260x to a 270 is $80~ more and the 270 is twice as fast as the 260×.
260x to a 280x is $180~more and the 280x is three times as fast as the 260x
260x to a 750Ti is $50~ more, and the 750Ti is only 8-12% faster then the 260×.note – I do not buy Nvidia GPUs anymore.
Why’d you stop using Nvidia GPUs? I liked Nvidia GPUs more than AMD GPUs until now.
I stopped using them when AMD started to come out with better drivers. That’s when AMD started to beat Nvidia on the GPUs for the price point.
Nothing from Nvidia can touch a R7 260x or HD7790 for its price of $99-$109, the first GPU from Nvidia that can touch that starts at $149 (the 750Ti)
Before the 750’s came out, you had to start at a 660, and they were starting at $169~
So for me, that’s why now. AMD just plays better in the ‘cheaper’ market then Nvidia/Intel.
And since, they have also done a lot driver fixing too.
Beyond the Tier2 card list, its a preference between AMD and Nvidia as they all perform about the same.
Ok thanks for the heads up.
Really helped me here especially for the gpu upgrade, now I’m having second thoughts for the 750 ti and taking your suggestion about the 7790 & 260×. Thanks again.

Yes that’s what I’m going to do as I said earlier and thank you for letting me know that the iGPU might be faster than my gt 630.

Well what fps do you think I can get with this new cpu and current gpu
in terms of Major Cities & WvW?what is you gpu? the iGPU in the haswell chip might be faster than your current gpu.
edit: I just aw you gpu in the edit. Your current gpu is barely faster than the iGPU of the haswell cpu.
The haswell cpu should give you much better playable settings. Think 60 fps on medium
It’s a gt 630 2gb ddr3 and the iGPU of the i3 4130 is hd4400. I don’t think it’s powerful than my gt 630.
current kaveri apu is faster than a gt630. A new haswell refresh might beat you gpu.
Correct me if I’m wrong, is the kaveri apu the new amd chip?
Thanks..

You would be better off with an i5 your looking at about $50, more for a 4th gen i5. Maybe even less than that.
A friend of mine has a i5-4670K and his brother has a i3-4130 and their using almost the same gpu’s and he was suprised that his brother has almost the same power (in terms of fps) as his i5.

Hi guys so as the title says I’m upgrading from a core 2 duo e4600 @ 2.4 Ghz
to a i3 4130 @ 3.4 Ghz along with a new mobo & 8gb ram x1 @ 1333 Mhz so my question is will I get a decent & flawless FPS? I know most people said that upgrading your CPU will get you a significant increase regardless of your GPU but I really want to know if this cpu can handle almost everything in this game. Btw I’m using a gt 630 2gb ddr3 and I plan to upgrade my GPU soon but for now I’ll be focusing on upgrading my CPU, mobo, & RAM because of budget.
How many fps will I get in PVE, PVP, WvW, & in major cities?
I’m playing at low-medium settings & 1280×1024 (75Hz). I don’t plan on changing my settings at high because of my GPU as long as I get a smooth FPS.
Thanks Guys!

Whats the difference between h81 & b75?
Yeah really helps alot and yes this build can play modern games i’ve seen it benchmarked on youtube and i dont fancy ultra settings just med to high but i think i could run ultra because of my res thanks to u guys
I think i should go for an MSI Z87 mobo for future purposes like you guys said. Thanks for the time guys
so I did some research and kind of confuse which mobo’s are best: MSi, Gigabyte, or Asus and btw what would be my average fps also in major cities like Black Citadel because my previous pc gets 10-18 fps :/ (core 2 duo 2.4ghz & gt 630)..thanks again
Thank you so much for the useful info I’ll post what mobo should I reconsider for the meantime..
Is this good for pvp & WvW in med to high settings at 1366 × 768? And what would be my average fps? Thanks in advance guys
