Not really. I don’t wish that on anyone here. Despite the deterioriation of the topic I like all three of the servers in this matchup.

Hello all. A PUG here. I rarely post because most of servers I like consider anyone not in an active WvW guild that dares set foot in WvW to be less than scum, whatever their skill level or understanding of WvW happens to be.

Any comparisons to fighting the likes of RS made in this match by any side are a bit silly. Yes, some fights can get frustrating. The nature of WvW is that the odds are rarely even and can often enough be so uneven that even clever tactics can fail to even the odds. That is no reason to sling insults.

For my part, I have been enjoying this matchup despite a few moments of frustration.

Folks, there are some truly obnoxious elitist folks in this community but TheMaskedParadigm does not seem to be one of them. He has been nothing but civil. Lets return the courtesy, shall we?

Sure a little ego makes its way into his description of how he came to get tired of the game but is that a bad thing? He says he sat solo fighting Lupi just to get the timing and such just right. He put in the time and has earned a bit of self-congratulation.

All that said, I think by reducing the game to a science like that may have spoiled the fun. PvE is by nature static. There is always a pattern to take advantage of if you look carefully enough and beyond that all you need is a good connection and adequate reflexes.

You have stated why you don’t care for the WvW/sPvP side of things so I won’t suggest that, but it is what this game has for you in terms of unpredictable play.

My previous suggestion was roll with a character not so currently overpowered. You said you do so and it just feels slower. I take this to mean you are still getting through the content relatively easily but with added tedium, so that really isn’t much of a solution.

What about one with a fundamentally different approach?

In response to Broadicea’s snipe, Playing one of the three unbalanced characters exclusively and complaining about the lack of challenge is not that far from hacking your way past the bosses in a dungeons and complaining about how easy it is. It makes things easier so that is great if the goal is ease. If the goal is to challenge yourself, not so much.

If this is a thread explaining why you are moving on, I wish you well in whatever comes next. If, on the other hand, you are fishing for more challenges to keep you interested, I suggest you try using one or more of the classes on the other side of the power curve.

I assume they mean your people are well known for sticking with the same build over a long time unlike those that re-spec constantly to try out new weapon combos.

Well that is my point, we need at least AR inspection. If you don’t have enough AR you will be kicked ANYWAY. This will just save time for all player.
And elitism is already there, just see FotM LFG lvl 30 posts, all ask for AR witch IS gearcheck. Wanna farm cof? See how fast you will find group as warrior and how fast as engi. Hmm, it sounds like some other game, what’s it name again?

If you look back at the posts, many have agreed on the AR point. Less have agreed on the MF point but still a significant number. The point of contention is opening up their gear choices to others for a variety of reasons.

And yes, elitism has found its way into the game. I don’t think that is a reason to strife for ever more elitism. I don’t see it as a positive thing.

Agony is absolutely an AR gear check. I would have to go back and read all the posts to be sure but I am not sure anyone has suggested otherwise.

Don’t worry, I am pretty sure Sovta is actually on our side in this debate. He making a parody of the usual elitist talk but exaggerating the snobbery and hostility to make them look bad.

Cannons and mortars are a keep upgrade and use keep supply in addition to money. Is it possible the location you were in did not have enough supply?

What you get are fixed locations that then have unbuilt cannons or mortars, requiring further supply to build just like any other seige weapon.

This would be a deal breaker for me, I think. Not the end of the world, but the end of my time in GW2.

That said, I do understand the frustration some must feel in terms of AR and MF. I could see some outward indication of the levels of these might not be a bad thing. I would just worry about a slippery slope towards elitist snobbery.

I do wish elitist behavior had more to do with actually being elite rather than on just setting arbitrary standards for others all too often based on surface knowledge of classes they don’t even play.

This was all done as a favor to you. Please try to be more appreciative.

You list trebuchette busting as a hobby so we all got together to help you get in enough experience with it to go past mere hobbiest and truly master it. That way you could eventually work up to killing NPCs or maybe even players some day.

Trash talk aside, we were being a bit goofy. The idea of amassing that many trebuchettes was amusing. I don’t think any of us were under the impression it would be brilliant strategy.

Given the matching reset on its way, this match seems a good time for a little silliness.

I have found myself in a tight spot due to the line drawn in the middle of the community. I have friends in the game and a guild but I only get a few hours of overlap time with them due to the time zone difference (I am US while they are EU) and wander the game alone after that. I am looking for folks to game with once my usual guild has shuffled off to bed.

Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’S project, Y/N?: Yes, as long as I don’t need to use an outside site. With all the hacked accounts and such, I am being overly cautious. Or downright paranoid.

It occurs to me that we skinned charr and wore them as armour in GW1. The Quaggan backpack seems the next logical step.
