And thanks Draeath.8536, it is true.
I’ll also be pumping my RAMs to 32GB later.
I am running a M17xR3 with 8 GB RAM dual Channel, ATi 6970 with RAID 0 SSD. Windows Index is 7.5 and I play other games enjoyably.
Whenever I start GW2, my FPS go low 14-18. Trust me on this, For those Alienware users with high end GPU load the game and it’ll be crappy.
So, ALT-TAB and load your IE and play a short clip from www.youtube.com (just load it and let it finish in the background) and then alt-tab back to GW2 check your FPS..
For you guys facing this low miserable FPS issues, try this out, doesn’t cost you a thing to try it.
My settings in GW2 is everything high except I off FXAA and Shader set to low. You can tweak it to your liking once you have youtube.com loaded in the background. I play the game at 60 fps now in most places and 40-50 fps when we are having a gang bang session in events.
Also, make sure you are running dual channel for your rams
I am running 40-60 fps now on my alienware m17r3 rig now.. before this it was 6-14 fps
… happy happy
After the long struggle of low fps in game.. Some ninja fix were put in as patches was rolled out..
Finally! the fix is found!
The solution is simple…
1) If you are having low fps problems like me…
2) If you are having low fps even with lowest settings on your class A GPU?
Seek no more!
SOLUTION:
1) Make Sure you put in most stable DRivers
2) Start game and set settings to best performance
3) ALT-TAB to load IE
3) Go to www.YouTube.Com and stream a movie
4) Let the movie runs in the background
5) ALT-TAB back to GW2
WALAAAA!!!! super smooth GW2
Enjoy!
GW2 have taken away the meaning of the holy trinity. This is something great as they move out of the paradigm of a conventional MMO.
This also means that everyone should build their character in a way so as to not be a bloody glass canon. Everyone must be responsible on how to self heal, dish out dps, tank and CC.
You must forget about that healer in the pocket as you yourself have to heal yourself. Its kind of you have to learn how to be the holy trinity. Always remember, there are no agro management in GW2, just CC and group synergy is the key.
Heres a few pointers for instance crawling:
1) Learn to roll and dodge
2) Learn the animation of bosses and mobs
3) Learn all your utilities
4) Learn to SWAP weapons
5) DON’T EVER KEYBOARD TURN
Cheers and happy dungeon crawling.
My settings
i7-2820QM @ 2.30GHz (8CPU), 8GB dual Channel RAM,
AMD Radeon HD 6970M, Driver Version 12.8 (Switchable Graphics OFF with A10 unlock Bios), 2 X RAID 0 SSD 512GB.
I even run Age of Conan on High and get 45fps. Crysis, Assassin Creed, Syndicate, Battlefield, Medal of honor, Rage and a bunch of GPU intensive games on high/ultra with 40 fps..
BUT… somehow in GW2… its a whooping 1-6 fps sometimes 12-20 fps (High or low settings is the same). Initially at early access, I got 110 fps at high settings on GW2, but after a few seconds of playing, it hits 4-6 fps.
ArenaNet seems to have ninja fix things and now, I am getting 26-60 fps at mid settings even in major spam of particles. Kudos ArenaNet, please tweak it so that we can play at high settings and fully enjoy the game experience
Weird performance.
1) My desktop runs on ATi 5700 XFire, 4GB RAM, Phenom. Really a mid range gaming rig I use 3 years ago. It runs fine with 60fps on all zone at high settings. (HAPPY)
2) My Alienware M17R3, ATi 6970, 8GB RAM, i7-2820QM, 512GB SSD. Top end gaming laptop. 14fps on all zones sometimes dipping to 1 fps and 4 fps… at minimum settings. (UNHAPPY)
So the question now is on my M17R3, I can play crysis, assassin creed, skyrim and a whole load of games at high settings and still get 40-60 fps. Why GW2 is giving such a poor fps?
CURRENT FIX: ArenaNet probably did some ninja fix while I swap my RAMs to use Dual Channel. Now it runs at 26fps at minimum settings. Not too bad, but still, I am losing the full experience of playing the game.
If anyone out there are able to give a solid fix, I am sure a lot of us out there will be very very please and will be able to fully experience GW2 whole heartedly.
