This issue started a few days ago. I am getting massive ping increase, i.e 1k+, in eternal battlegrounds in WvW. I am fine in any of the borderlands, in spvp, and in open world. I only run into this issue in EB. I reset my router, checked my speeds (60 down, 5 up), and even tried plugging directly into my router but have had no luck alleviating this issue.

What are the some good guardian wvw builds for roaming? Mostly done spvp so I’m not really familiar with the rune/sigil/trait setup I should be running.
What weapons would you consider to have good synergy then? Personally I enjoy being able to RoW—JI to ensure max dmg on WW or forcing the enemy to blow cds/rolls to avoid it. That and the snare and knockback are decent for helping point secure or chasing down kills, though I will grant that the lack of mobility outside of the GS3 and JI is pretty noticeable when fighting ranged weapon sets.
What do you guys think of Medi Gs/Ham in spvp after the patch?
Yeah I can see that. I dabbled with a rogue in WoW and my favorite part was being able to just dip out if things got hairy. Being able to reengage constantly from an advantageous point would give them the edge.
So if rogues have the advantage assuming a situation that favors stealth, what about situations that do not for the others? For example if the characters had to fight in a coliseum where the fight was expected. Sure rogues can use stealth but how limited would that be in an open battle? If the rogue had the ability to go fully invisible at will as game mechanics show rather than just being super sneaky then it could still go to the rogue, but anticipating the attack could give other classes a fighting chance.
I tend to agree with that sentiment. Anyone would get taken down by a knife in the back or an arrow from a blindside. But on the other side a fully armored warrior, if the blade didnt finish the job in 1 strike, may be able to retaliate against a rogue and even survive the wound if it wasn’t fatal. A mage with a barrier could either protect themselves or realize a stealthy is nearby.
So, I’ve been curious lately about the comparative strength between mmo/rpg classes. I wanted to see what you guys thought about it.
Which typical mmo archetype (warrior, knight(paladin), rogue, archer, mage) do you believe is the strongest? Which one would be likely to win in an even 1 v 1 fight? Etc.
Think this could be a fun topic to think about but please don’t go all crazy and hateful about it with each other.
You mentioned mostly being asked to do melee. So would say gs/hammer be a good option for fractals with maybe occasional fights needing scepter or?
Yeah, I mean I’ve looked into it and tbh most of the gameplay with those weapons looks fine (though staff just seems like this awkward magic shotgun) but I just don’t like the idea of this heavy armored warrior of justice and virtue who carries around a little magic wand (scepter).
It does seem that guardian has some nice options, and I could probably run ham/gs for alot of things, but I just worry that there will be alot of situations (ranked pvp or high lvl fractals/speed runs) where not having that ranged weapon equipped is gimping myself of the party.
Thank you all for the replies. My main concern has been, esp after getting back into doing dungeons, is that with guardian the weapons I would likely be using weapons I don’t like but are good, for instance having a ranged option for bosses that melee is just a horrible idea and choosing scepter over having a melee weapon.
That scenario is the main reason I’ve been considering warrior, as I like longbow and it seems like a good choice for a ranged option. While something like sword/focus, or scepter/focus or even using the staff on guardians might be good from a gameplay/numbers perspective I just don’t like the way those items look/feel thematically.
I recently started playing GW2 again and I have been trying to select a character to level. I typically play paladin characters in rpgs/mmos so I was immediately drawn to the guardian. So far, however, the only weapons I seem to like for the guardian, aesthetically, are the gs, hammer, sword and shield. It seems most builds for Guardian pve/pvp involve the focus/scepter/staff.
Are builds that utilize the gs/hammer for guardians optimal/viable or should I re-roll warrior?
