we just need some 1v1,2v2,3v3 and 5v5 arena. yeah w/e like wow. i said it. i say the magic word wow. GW2 NEED TO BE MORE LIKE WOW. not like gw2 or w/e this pvp system is call. we need a real pvp game. VOTE FOR ARENA. VOTE NOW NOOBS!!!
I have nothing against WoW players, but really guys, WoW Arenas are the simpliest PvP mode of Guild Wars 1.
Guild Wars 2 PvP should be more like Guild Wars 1 PvP.
For all of you guys that don’t know what we are talking about here.
Random Arenas (RA) = 4v4 random teams
Team Arenas (TA) = 4v4 premade teams
Aliance Battles (AB) = 12v12 almost like GW2 spvp
Heroe’s Ascent (HA) = 8v8 premade teams playing on standard maps
Guild vs Guild (GvG) = 8v8 premade guild teams playing playing on standards maps called guild halls
Wins at RA and TA gave progress to a certain title.
Wins at HA gave progress to a certain title + rank emote + items if you won at the last map (only a winning team progress to the next round)
Wins and loses at GvG had impact on the guild ladder and above a certain ELO rating wins gave progress to a certain title. There are also worldwide tournaments where guilds from all the game servers participated.
All these modes had 1 thing in common. We had to win the game in order to win something and not just to farm.
So I also agree with most of the GW 1 players, GW2 PvP should be like GW1 PvP
+1 for the swiss round system
GvG had a ladder, various objectives, 8v8 PvP play, a variety of viable builds, and was played in Guild Halls that were owned by your guild. These factors alone make it about 10 times more dynamic and interesting than sPvP in its current state. HA provided the same things, but also had 3 way competition on a world scale where you fought between other regions (NA/EU/Korea) for the “favor of the gods” and if you won, your guild/team name was displayed to the entire world that you won a Hall of Heroes match and because of that, your whole region had access to an Underworld dungeon where you could farm rare mats and drops off of hard-to-kill mobs until you were not favored any longer. Sounds pretty not stale to me. 5v5 is boring and cookie-cutter, point capture is unoriginal and repetitive, and there is no place for guilds in any of the current sPvP in a game called GUILD Wars. Seems quite silly. Additionally, the game type that guilds do have, WvW, needs a lot of work regarding bugs, glitches, and the overwhelming fact that there is no way to coordinate a large group without a commander icon and even then, the system is often buggy and not useful. Guilds need to be prioritized as a group that should be playing a role in these PvP modes, not just being able to farm influence and karma and experience in PvE.
Well said.
I didn’t mean to put GvG and HA as they were in GW1, but to make the proper alterations in order these modes to work in GW2.
GW2 at the current state will never compete LoL, cause sPvP is like the Dominion mode of LoL and all that have played LoL, know that Dominion is the fun mode of the game.
As for E-sports, GW1 was an e-sport back in 2006 with prizes that reached 150.000 $. Prized tournaments stopped at the end of 200, if I remember well.
Anyway, back to the topic, I think, theloneaven, you get what I meant at my 1st post.
Implement Guild vs Guild and Hero’s Ascent game modes from Guild Wars 1. These were the most popular and hardcore pvp game modes of the 1st game after all
