Don’t know about Warrior and PvE but i do know that the necro needs a lot of love and A.I can be improved for both ranger pets and necro minions. The Engineers granade kits could use an auto attack even if it does require a reticule. Engineers could probably use a damage boost as well but I haven’t got one past level 7 so heh. Theives that use swords also need some love and attention. The second attack on flanking strike could be quicker and pistol whip’s damage could be increased.
I concur with Tommyknocker. While it is cool to see a new dungeon and some more Guild and WvW stuff, I am more interested in class balance. Engineer, Necro and Rangers need a little loving :P
You will be back.
I just have to say that I spent like 5 hours strait leveling my human Mesmer to level 16 and that was just fun. I tend to stick to the sword and torch as my main set and the staff for back up. Staff skill 5 combined with torch skill number 4 and sword skill 2 makes for some very nasty AoE which has made leveling just fun.
After seeing this thread and seeing how people enjoyed the Necro I figured I would give it another shot. I made a cool looking Sylvari necro that looked peacefully evil (weird I know but i managed it) and…by the six I remember why I don’t have one. They just don’t deal damage, it takes so long to kill anything compared to other classes. If you have a free character slot go make a necro and see how little damage it does. It is laughable, I know the Necro would probably be awesome later levels and that but I just can’t put up with taking forever to kill things to finaly be on par with other classes.
In short, you can have fun with the Mesmer right from the get go, but the Necro is a out right pain and needs some attention from Anet. The early leveling experience is just not fun at all. Please give the Necro some tender loving care.
Branchlers cross between branch and antlers. Hell, even if they are just two small things jutting out from the head that would be cool. Also, roots could work, I could see some moss covered roots in a swept back style.
I would love to see the servers merge into one big one. When playing now, I don’t often see people in the mid range zones, some times I will see two others but most of the time I am alone. I would imagine the highers end zones would be popular I imagine and the starting zones are mostly deserted save for the human one.
One big server that splits the more popular areas across multiple ‘overflows’ seems like a no-branier to me but tehre are still many that seem deadset against it. It’s only an issue if there are not enough players from your server to polutate an area on their own. Would you rather be playing in an empty zone, or one with players from many differnt servers?
Honestly I would rather be playing with players full stop. I don’t care about what server they are on I just don’t want to be the only one doing an event or heart quest. An idea is that servers which share a zone being underpopulated could have said overflow server as the standard one you join with a tag say “you have been placed in an over flow server due to a lack of people, would you like to stay on this server?” or something. That way, people that want to stay with their own server can while others that just want to play with people regardless arn’t forced into isolation.
There is probably a better way of allowing both sides of this argument have their way but that was all I could come up with.
10 things GW2 needs to change, well put together video and worth a watch.
Also, passive out of combat speed boost for everyone.
Oh and Mesmer staff “1” skill to properly bounce between targets like the ranger’s axe 1 skill does.
Thief PvE damage increase.
Necro PvE damage increase.
Lipstick an option for female Human and Norn faces.
The ability to filter between light, medium and heavy armors in TP.
The other classes just can’t kill as fast as the warrior can. You can’t get some mobs and heap them all together and then easily mow them down while doging here and there. Everything is just so much slower, even on an eli. I thought, oh yeah, glass cannon, but I found that the best way was to go dagger/dagger and stick to earth…it was also a pain to get a new weapon and level 12 different skills -_-. Can’t they just look at the other classes and see how they can be more fun early on?
Strange, I played a Warrior up to level 10 and thought it was the most boring class to play. It’s just spam hundred blades and watch stuff die. I tried some of their other weapons, but they weren’t much more fun, and killed stuff slower.
Elementalist and Thief on the other hand are a lot more fun. Sure, they might not kill stuff as fast, but they have mobility, and both classes have plenty of fun skills.
Btw, if you play Elementalist, I’d strongly recommend learning to use all 4 elements in battle instead of sticking to only 1.
Fare enough, my point is the warrior can take a bit of punishment and is one of, if not the best DPS class in game. I don’t mind mobility and all but when the other classes rely on it more then the warrior and just can’t kill stuff as quick, they don’t feel as complete. Sure you may find the warrior boring, not everyone will like every class, but it is a complete class. some of the others feel like you need to get them to 15-30 or so before you can have fun with them.
Also, yeah i know with the eli you are supposed to keep switching the elements around but it was more simple to stay in earth and bleed them out. I imagine you could use the scepter really well while switching elements. But that requires ground casting a lot and personally I’m not to keen on it even with fast casting.
Frankly I have to agree with the OP. The warrior is just so much fun to play as you can pick up almost any weapon early on and experiment with the skills. I made a second warrior after trying out all the other classes and didn’t realize how much more fun I was having with it then all the other classes. Got a sword and a war horn and rounded up mobs and mowed em down with my burst skill and used savage leap and charge to get around until I had weapon switching. I then used that to level any other weapons I picked up.

I played this game for a bit when it came out and I have only recently came back to it. I think if people are going to leave the game for any reason it may be due to the game looking like it is abandoned. I run around the level 50-60 zones and see almost no one else, same goes for most starting zones save the human one. Can’t they put those half empty servers in one big over flow server or something? I also haven’t had the chance to try any dungeons due to a lack of people, I could get a guild, but some how I don’t think they would help me until I was max level or something.
I hope so, it puts the Massively Multiplayer into the MMO genre. An MMO without that would probably end up being considered a fail due to the amount of people that would get frustrated and leave. So in a way, that part of GW2 hasn’t so much ruined other MMOs but forced them to use that mechanic.
Some other things I can see GW2 having over other MMOs is the ability to dye your armor and the vast amount of dyes available to you. And armor/weapon crafting lets you choose what stats go on it “to a limited degree, it would be nice to see a larger range of insignias that arn’t restricted by level”. Also, the ability to send all your collectables to their own spot in the bank and to sell stuff at the AH from any place in the world. If a game was missing just one of those things there would be a point in time where you would end up saying to yourself “I wish this was more like GW2”.
but save from some mechanics that are most likely going to be standard, GW2 has a lot of bugs and issues of its own see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMEq4PAFmnI for some examples and suggestions. Anyway I guess what I am saying is that if a new MMO doesn’t have those features, people will probably want to leave it unless it has something else going for it.
Realistic or not this is a game so we can do what we want. If you had the option to for one of the skills to be a bundle where you get to use your claws and that I would so take it. Heck, I can think of some cool skills already.
1. Claw, claw at you target damaging them and causing bleeding.
2. Pounce, pounce at you foe and knock them down for 1 second.
3. Bite, sink you teeth into your foe and then savagely rip them away causing bleeding.
4. Kick, kick your foe backwards.
5. Ravage, repeatedly claw at your foe.
Not the best skills by any means but I think it would focus on bleeds and knock down. Hack if anyone else has some ideas for skills go ahead I think we can have a real thing going on here. I mean, when I saw the Charr part of me just wanted to rip into things like the wild animal it looks like, but I couldn’t

I think one of the biggest things GW2 has over most other MMOs is the fact that you and some random player can both start beating on a mob and it doesn’t matter who hits it first, you both get loot. Its a thing I imagine people would take for granted but you really notice once its gone. If another MMO comes out which doesn’t have that basic feature, it won’t be as fun as GW2 is.
Starting out with plant armor would be nice, and the ability to make plant styled armor and weapons, they can add that in as a recipe you either buy or get from a quest. Also, I don’t know if it was mentioned before but when the Sylvari were announced a lot of people where thinking of branchlers (Antlers that look like branches). They could have some sticking out like horns.
I am glad they went with what they have now. They are just so fun to customize, some people (like me) can spend ages making a Sylvari due to all the options you have. So many colours and they glow at night! If they went with the old concept of elves it would have been really generic, they already have Norn looking really similar to humans as it is. Put elves on top of that and you have two races which look really different to anything else and then generic humans, larger humans and skinny hippy humans.
I feel the need to get more posts on here since this is a small annoying thing which seems like it wouldn’t take long to fix. I know they are probably working on Flame and Frost and all that but honestly I am surprised that this is still around.
I would be very pleased if they added in those Ooze elementals as a playable race. There are already, many different colours to choose from and you would get to play as the blob, though on a smaller scale then the old horror movie.
The Bats as a race would also tickle my fancy. I would personally name my Bat the creative name of “Zubat” and form a guild called “bet you wish you had max repel”. We would hide in caves in WvWvW
However, I know my dreams of playing as the mini blob or as a Zubat probably won’t be realized in this game. So I would have to add to the many people that want the Tengu as a playable race. I must confess I have not yet seen a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game that allows you to play as a Birdman.
Well, what else would you expect to find on an official MMO forum? Lets be honest, not everyone here has thought out their arguments or looked at the game from different views. I doubt they ever will, in a way that is part of the charm of an official MMO forum.

Don’t forget about armour dye preview and I might suggest being able to search for light, medium and heavy armour as well.
I have to agree with Adzy. I tried most of the other classes to around level 10 and found that the warrior was easily one of the most versatile and well made classes. Everything feels like it can work really well with the right play style.
I found that the thief didn’t have the damage I imagined it would. After playing around with the different weapon sets I could have, I found that the short bow was grate for damage with the exploding arrow skill, just time it so you detonate it over your targets head. But apart from that I think the thief needs a bit of a buff to damage.
The ranger has been the class I have played the most of so far as I simply like the play style. I tend to switch between the short bow and the grate sword. A bit like the thief I tend to keep to my short bow and get to the side of my target and bleed it to death or group up my mobs, set a trap and swing like mad with the grate sword. The long bow is very useful for keeping people behind cover when attacking a keep.
Honestly I could not get past level 7 with the Mesmer. So I’m not sure if my experience with this class can be of that much help to you. But even after I got all of the skills I found that it simply did not have the damage I wanted. I battled a mob with health regen for about three minutes one on one with the scepter and I’m not getting into melee range of a target when I am wearing cloth armour. Other people can probably work really well with this class, I just found it to be a bit of a pain.
Engineer is a bit lack luster. All your weapons are ranged (with the exception of kits obviously) and they don’t seem to do that much damage at all. I had been hoping to level by switching between the rifle and flamethrower and I did have fun doing this. The flamer might not be the best way to AoE in game, but I found it to be very fun. Its just a shame that my warrior is so much better at dealing with groups with a main hand sword and off hand axe. Still, the engineer is just fun with the flamer :P
Eli needs more damage. I expected this class to be my main. There are lots of tools for AoE damage and support, but with a bit of lag and a few hits, you go down (or at least I did anyway)
The other classes I havn’t played so much. I think I got a guardian up to level 3 but then had to delete it so I could play with the character creator some more and my Necro hasn’t seen much action. It might seem like the warrior is over powered, but IMHO, the other classes need some more work, at least in early PvE. Also, I guess the warrior does so well as it has a large amount of play styles that can be adapted to work with it. The other classes seem to have those playstyles available, but they aren’t viable.
TLDR
Warrior awesome, so many ways to play it, all of them good.
Other classes, have other ways to play them, but only one or two play styles are a viable option.
