If you are correct and the only limit to the amount of characters I can have is how much money I’m willing to spend on them, then that is truly awesome
An alt-o-holic’s dream come true!
Hi everyone!
I was just curious – what is the maximum number of character slots 1 account can have? I know you can buy more for 800 gems a piece but I was curious if there is a maximum amount.
I kind of hope there isn’t a limit as I am a true alt-o-holic and I would love to see all the different personal story paths possible with different races.
Anyone know?
I really like this idea. Your ideas are fairly solid (I don’t like the 5 skill because as others said, it would be too op).
Considering engineers seem to be the “Jack of all trades, master of none”, I think that engineers really should have a sniper to compete with a rangers longbow. A sniper that hits very hard but shoots very slowly would be very cool.
Perhaps this kit should be a 30-point elite skill and the 1 should be the 3, so it acts like a mortar. I think having to take time to line up each shot and deal extreme damage when you fire would feel very sniper-like. Just my 2pence.
+1 to this idea. I would love to see this implemented at some point in the games development!
All I’m seeing so far is;
1. Use AoE
2. ???
3. Profit
He did ask for a gear setup and build, not just “kill mobs get loot l0lz”.
I don’t know about build but for gear, if you’re looking to farm loot from mobs with event farming, try and go for a full set of Explorer’s Prowler gear. It gives power and precision for killing mobs, while also giving magic find so you get more / better loot. That’s what I use at the moment anyway and it seems to work very well for my income.
Hope that helped a little bit for you. It’s just what I use, I don’t know if it’ll suit you / if it’s the best!
Hi everyone!
I know that during leveling, I shouldn’t be too worried about what gear I get as long as it’s an upgrade but I am curious; what should I be gearing for? In all honesty, I’m not 100% sure on what the different stats mean.
Far as I’m aware:
Precision = Crit chance
Power = Damage
Condition Damage = Poison/Frost/Fire/Etc damage
Toughness = How much less damage I take
Vitality = How much health I have
If I’m incorrect in any of these, please clarify but back on subject; I use a Longbow and a Shortbow as my weapons, that’s pretty much all I use. The pet I think I’ll always use (while having a different off-pet) is a Spider – jungle variety at the moment.
So, TL;DR – What should a Ranger with a Longbow and Shortbow gear for to make my leveling life a bit easier?
Thank you in advance!
I agree with Caedmon. Despite my server actually being quite good in WvW most of the time, I can see this being a serious pain in the backside for PvEers. Plus, why would people who are trying to capture locations to ultimately help their server want players who have NO interest in capturing locations in the WvW anyway? It hurts the servers WvW force having players who just want to complete the map.
Sure, you may still get people completing the map for a separate achievement but really, WvW map completion needs to be separate from the normal world completion. It isn’t really viable to lock off a massive achievement like 100% map completion because of large-scale PvP.
Make 100% Map completion just for the PvE world.
Make the WvW 100% Map completion a different achievement with different (albeit much lesser but possibly pvp-related) rewards.
The flamethrower certainly feels underpowered at early levels at least when compaired to other weapon kits, but I wouldn’t see it to be a reason to complain. It’s a fun kit! No other kit allows you to run around spitting fire all over everything nearby. I think once the bugs / glitches are tuned (flame missing a lot, no auto-attack etc.) it’ll be even more fantastic.
Also a question: Kits don’t scale with any item, right? They just have their own per-level scaling. Won’t that make engineer extremely underpowered in endgame where the only “scaling” is through better gear? Won’t that leave the engineer to fall behind on damage? Just a concern whenever I hear that things don’t scale with gear.
I believe they scale, but in a unique way.
Since they have no ‘weapon strength’, its just raw power and raw malice that affects their damage.
You can certainly see the difference in condition duration after investing in explosives, so they are affected by stats.
Thank you for this information and putting my worry to rest. I’m glad to know that they scale in at least some way!

Fantastic post. I hope you continue to work on it an eventually complete it! It certainly has taught me some great things about the Engineer! Makes me want to continue playing him.
