I did some testing with the “Facing Wrong Direction” part and found it is still their full cool downs. My post wasn’t really supposed to be my opinion, more or less my observations to help balance the class. I edited it to reflect that fact.
I have been playing engineer since prelaunch, almost exclusively. These are just some of the more annoying things I have come across while playing.
Rifle Jump: The animation is bugged and you hover in the air like a looney toon for half a second at the destination before landing/causing damage. Thief’s heartseeker doesn’t do this, the warrior jump doesn’t do this, why does ours?
Barrage: The AOE ring is far to large. It should be shrunk by around 25% as the cluster of grenades never uses the full ring. I tested this at various distances on the dummies in the mists and about 25% of the outer most area in the ring does no damage.
Elixir X: I have been using this ultimate for awhile now in sPvP to help keep people off my points. I have noticed that the tornado only happens maybe 25% of the time. I don’t know if this is intended but the tool tip suggests its a 50/50 chance.
Magnetic Pull: You cannot cancel this skill. If you accidently hit this skill in the heat of battle you are stuck until the casting time is over.
Facing Wrong Direction: I think this happens to other classes as well. When I am facing the wrong direction and shoot at a targeted enemy my skill with start it’s cool down, but nothing will happen. Confirmed, it is the full cooldown.
Do any other engineers have skills with problems they would like me to add to the post? I mean actual problems, not “balance” issues.

This argument has caused many disagreements within the MMO community. Most of it dealing with fear of losing the advantage. However, some people think that skill should be the substance to fill the cracks where the developers fail to. In my eyes people are misunderstanding the difference between “balance” and “skill”. “Learn to play” is a counter argument which factors skill in to the equation. Skill is not what is being discussed however. For example: when two fighters enter a ring they are all given the same equipment to fight with, and yes, skill provides us with a victor. Now, say fighter A was given gloves with iron rolls in them, and fighter B provided with normal gloves. While fighter B could learn to fight against such a disadvantage and still win, why should he? It’s an obvious flaw within the balance of the fight. In game, when one class has a singular move which can out damage (percentage of health, as to eliminate the “glass cannon” argument) an entire combination of 3, or 4 moves of another class and provide the same outcome, then how can you justify balance? Is balance not the relationship in which one class has to another providing equal results (without factoring in skill) just as the fighter’s equipment?
I have hopped from about 6 servers, and have yet to find one with an active sPvP bracket. I am looking for a server in which heart of the mists plays a vital role in housing the server’s population. Right now I am on Blackgate and let me tell you, tourney pugs are almost non-existent. I have also been looking for an sPvP guild and there doesn’t seem to be one recruiting. So I ask you, where can I find a server that has an active “Heart of the Mists”?
I want/need this potion. I am really hoping I could just buy a bunch off the TP, or a karma vendor.
Well after seeing you have been at this for 2 weeks sir, I just left my own guild. Screw that – it’s not worth it.
EDIT: Created a new guild just to see what would happen. I have 100% of the permissions, no issue. Lost all of my influence, members, and time spent, but hey… at least I solved the problem.

I created my guild a week or so ago, but sadly it is badly effected by the permissions bug that A.net has yet to comment on. This is killing my guild, what little guild I have been able to build with only the invite feature that is. This NEEDS to be fixed, for me, and all of my fellow effected guild leaders. I know I am supposed to post in the mega guild bug thread but that is nothing more then a graveyard of issues that no one seems to talk about.
What I cannot do:
- Promote
- Demote
- Kick
- Edit Ranks
- Edit MOTD
- Que Upgrades
- Represent on 3/4 characters
What I can do:
- Invite

Description: When I created the guild (around 9/23) I noticed that my “leader” rank was missing every permission but “Edit Ranks”. Because of this bug I cannot:
- Promote/Demote Members
- Choose Upgrades
- Edit M.O.T.D.
Not like anyone is going to read this, considering there are 200 other guilds in my position.
New guild looking for members to bolster the ranks. Will focus on PvP mainly, but plan on doing weekly/daily dungeon runs to help get gear and money. I plan on keeping the guild around 50 members to keep the face value of members high.
