Organized maps are conflicting with pug maps

lgf tool doesnt work at all for this.

It does, you’re just not paying attention.

Well, it does and it doesn’t. If you are looking for a certain type of map and get taxi’d in, it absolutely works.

However, if you just WP over without looking for a taxi, you might end up in an organized map that is doing something different from what you intended to go do. This may or may not be an actual problem, but I know I’d feel a bit guilty if I just wanted to farm chests/events (or just run to the LS markers) and thereby messed up the efforts of a bunch of people who were organizing to get a 5/5 map going . . .

Staff elementalists can provide a lot of fields for blasting, but are limited in the number of skills to do the blast finisher within the field. For the weapon skills, you only have Earth #2. You can get a couple more blast finishers via utility skills (Arcane Brilliance heal and Arcane Wave as a utility). You can really only use your own Earth #2 skill at the start of the fight, or you will probably end up with fire attunement on cooldown when you’d want to try to re-use that combo and won’t have a fire field to drop on top of Earth #2 when you want it.

However, as a Fire-camping staff elementalist, you can keep 100% up-time on a fire field for other people in the party to blast for might. If you have a good party, you can have pretty high might stacks from your fire field and those other blast finishers. If you don’t have a party who is blasting in your fire field, you’re pretty limited to might stacking when your utilities come off of cooldown.

Posted this in another thread, too.

They will not only nerf the FGS #4 fire fields, but also nerf the fields for Burning Speed and Burning Retreat (can not be stacked onto each other – at 24:55). I don’t think that nerf is needed at all on those two later skills.

I was afraid of that! Thank you (and the others who replied to my query) for the info.

I don’t think the nerf should be applied to Burning Speed/Retreat either. Or maybe I just don’t want it to be, because I so enjoy burning down structures by stacking a Burning Speed on it.

It’ll be a few more hours before I get a chance to watch the Ready-Up video; I’m hoping someone who has seen it can satisfy my curiosity before then. Are they just talking about a nerf to just the FGS fire trail, or would it affect Burning Speed/Burning Retreat as well? Or were they too vague to be certain?

Thanks!

Greetings!

I started playing GW2 at launch, took a break from all things MMO for about a year, and came back to GW2 a couple of months ago. I’ve been flying solo, but am starting to explore more of the group activities available. I’d rather find a nice guild home than to spend all of my game-time looking for PUGs.

Hence posting here

What I am looking for in a guild

My play-time is mostly limited to 10pm – midnight, EST. So what I am hoping to find is a guild with active members who would be interested in group activities during that time frame, and who would be patient while I learn the ropes in more organized group activities.

My characters are on the Fort Aspenwood server. My preference is in finding a guild based on FA, so the influence I earn for the guild counts. I would rather not transfer to a different server, as I don’t fancy losing access to the personal guild bank that I spent so much time getting set up.

I am interested in learning the Dungeons, and am also open to learning how to effectively contribute in WvWvW. I am less interested in sPvP.

What I can bring to a guild

My main character is my level 80 Elementalist. I also have a mid-70s Warrior and some very low level toons that I dink around on from time to time.

I have no problem with representing a guild 99.9% of the time, as long as no one gives me grief for occasionally switching to my personal bank guild to access that bank.

I can listen in on Teamspeak/Mumble/what-have-you. I do have a working mic, but my wife gets annoyed when I talk to the computer instead of to her, so my preference is to keep the out-going voice chat to a minimum.

Mostly, I bring a friendly player willing to contribute to the group. I like to think I’m a decent player and a fast learner, so I hope I’d pick things up in a reasonable time-frame.

It does seem anti-intuitive to think that buy low, sell high “lowers” prices, but I do see the point about equilibrium.

Buying out the low material to sell it for a higher price means that there is room again for new materials to enter the market at higher prices as well, via undercutting. This gives producers (material farmers, etc) actual value for what they enter into the market.

The raise in price also helps siphon gold out of the economy to keep it more stable. TP flippers have to suck up a huge fee just to buy, list, and earn on their investments. If it’s not at least a 30% increase, it’s probably not worth doing at all. Which means they have to invest in highly volatile materials.
…and my brain went from gold sinks to farming guiding gameplay and..

Yeah, it’s a complex topic, one that the game’s economist has a pretty firm grasp of.

This only applies to impatient buyers/sellers. For those utilizing buy orders and sell offers it increases prices on buy orders and decreases prices on sell offers.

Isn’t this the definition of “reaching equilibrium”? Sell offers go down, buy orders go up, and they reach a balance point somewhere in the middle.

For getting around in the open world, I’ve been grabbing “Windborne Daggers” in the Archana line. If you run around with a pair of daggers, the speed increase is significant. It isn’t quite permanent swiftness, but it’s pretty decent. Once I get where I am going, I switch back to my normal weapon set (which happens to be D/F anyway), and can quickly shuffle those 2 points from Archana back where they should be.

If you’re doing this, you might as well just equip Signet of Air instead – it’s permanent 25% speed buff, and is only one skill to switch out from your bar rather than finding the traits list/doing weapons in inventory.

Oh, good advice! Thank you!

(now I feel silly for not having thought of that already)

Soul-binding a precursor?

You can still craft the legendary and it will not be bound to anything when it comes out of the forge. And you won’t get the legendary skin unless you bind it to your account.

Makes sense. Good to know.

Thank you kindly.

I won the RNG lottery a couple of nights ago, and found Storm in a chest. Since I usually have terribly luck with the RNG, I hadn’t even thought about crafting a legendary. But now that a precursor has dropped into my lap, I am starting to think about it.

A couple of questions though. If I equip Storm to unlock the skin, will I still be able to craft the legendary from it? And if so, would that also be soul (or account) bound?

Does crafting a legendary in the MF unlock its skin?

Thanks for the input; my forum-search-powers are weak, and I haven’t found the answers on my own yet.

I got my Elementalist to level 80 back in the early GW2 days. I took a break from GW2 for a year+ and came back a bit ago. I started out leveling a new character, but I missed my Elementalist. And now that I’ve started playing my Elementalist again, I find it hard to go back to my newer character (warrior, fwiw), because Elementalist is just so much more fun/engaging to play.

I wanted to throw a “thank you!” out to DEKeyz for this thread. I recently came back to GW2 after about a 2 year break. I had been running a D/D Evasive Arcana build, but was having a lot of trouble trying to get the might stacking with that build working the way I remembered once I came back. I am now having a lot of fun with the D/F builds you describe here and in your YouTube video.

I miss Earthquake, but I am liking Flamewall a lot better than the current Ring of Fire, so it’s overall a nice change from how I used to play.

I’ve been enjoying my popcorn while the debate rages on. It’s been entertaining

I’m more or less in agreement with this quote from Ayrilana:

This may be a completely original and not thought of idea so hear me out.

The game has these things called guilds. Someone who wants to regularly do these coordinated meta events could start a guild specifically to do that and invite other people that wish to do so. Scheduled times can be posted on the MOTD so everyone knows when to be on and ready. You then find an somewhat empty server and ferry people over. You can use TS or other voice chat programs to coordinate if necessary.

Why hasn’t anyone thought of doing this? Oh wait… they have. A lot of the successful servers (ahem, mega servers) do this.

I haven’t wanted to join a guild, and so I am accepting of the fact that this can and does greatly limit my ability to do certain things in the game.

The only place the quote loses me, and this may just be my own ignorance of how to go about it, is “You then find an somewhat empty server . . . .”

How does one do that with the existing tools?

My reading of what the OP has been asking for, is for better tools to do exactly this part. Am I missing something obvious?

Quicksand does not appear in dry areas!

There is the fact that a water pipe ends just above where the ‘quicksand river’ starts, and it IS slowly pouring water down onto the sand <_<.

Unsure if the quicksand in the one cave ‘flows’ or just stands still.

I’m pretty sure that the “quicksand” in the Inquest cave is not only flowing, it is flowing in the opposite direction from the “quicksand” outside the cave.

Which fits the theory/explanation that the flow is caused by the water from that pipe pretty well, imho.

The rune doesn’t matter what armor it is on for the bonuses as long as it is the same rune correct? Example, I could have 3 pieces of beserker and 3 pieces of knight and still get all 6 tiers of rune stacking. Or 4- 2 or 5 – 1. Is this a good option? Would this help with not dying? Or am I crippling my stats by doing this? It looks like a viable option to me.

I’m pretty sure you are correct there. The runes don’t look at what “type” of armor they are on, just how many slots have the same rune.

A question that seems to fit in this thread well enough that I’ll ask here, rather than create a separate thread:

If one is still learning proper situation awareness and dodging (noobs-r-us), would Soldiers, Knights, or Valkyrie armor pieces be better to improve survivability?

Also, would it be the same recommendation for PvE material and event farming, versus Dungeon runs?

Thank you!
