It took me awhile to understand salvaging in this game but i’ve been doing that now. That sounds good. Leatherworking and Weaponsmithing it is! I suppose if I do get 80 and want to work towards anything else, I can just pick up the other crafting professions then. Thanks a bunch

Well this is my first character. I plan to play more but not until I get this one to 80. This being my first time in guild wars, the whole systems are new to me, including taking multiple crafting and how switching between them and resource managing to max them all works. I suppose my biggest issue is being uninformed of how the game works overall.

Two thoughts come to mind when I am trying to decide which crafts to pick.

First, I thought, leatherworking and jeweling maybe, although I’d think weaponsmithing would be better than jeweling. I read online though that it is not.

Then I read that if you want to make your legendary weapon, id assume dagger for my thief, then I need to go chef/weaponsmithing.

So now I am lost in what I should do. Any suggestions? Thanks

The Mists seems like a good idea. I will definitely try that after my classes today! I just experimented with it on my Ele. It’s definitely a new way to interpret pvp, so it will take time for me to learn to not just mash buttons. Narrowed it to Ele Mesmer and thief so I’ll have to try those three at it.

Falunel, I started off scepter/dagger on my Ele. I heard its good end game, and I liked this one combo I saw in a video. Those both however, require me to wait for many levels. So I switched to staff for the time being.

I suppose the topic says it all. I just got the game a week ago and i’ve been struggling to find the right profession for me. (I apologize for another one of these posts). It’s just hard for me to decide which profession to choose and put so many hours into when I don’t really know what the higher level pve and pvp will feel like, especially dungeons.

Coming from Wow, I thought I would love the warrior but I found the combat system to be stiff and undesirable to me. That prompted me to make an elementalist, which I got to 14 and have so far mostly enjoyed. I say mostly because the rotations have just started to die off in my mind. I find most of the abilities to be slightly useless, at least at this level. I’m either in fire doing damage or in water trying not to die.

I guess what I am looking for is to make sure I pick the absolute best profession for me now before I get too far ahead and don’t have the motivation to reroll. I really want to start seeing the real game at higher levels.

I’ve been looking into a few professions that interest me. Mainly ele, necro, mesmer and thief. I was hesitant to start a thief but I did last night because my main was a rogue on Wow. I was afraid of the melee system because of my experience on the warrior, but it wasn’t bad. I just don’t know how end game would feel.

So, what professions are good? What ones stand out as desirable in groups for dungeons and why? What ones stand out as being on top in pvp? Which ones have the highest dps, if that is something calculated in GW2?

I guess my play style may be an issue. I like to always be active while playing, or it feels like I am not doing everything that I possibly could be. With the warrior, at least at low levels, I found myself standing still pushing one or two buttons every 10 seconds. With the ele I could switch between 20 abilities and keep myself active, but that quickly turned into 3 or 4 abilities only.

Anyways, thanks for any help and suggestions that you guys have. It is really appreciated!
