Unless they put passive traits (their preference) to “Ignore Condition Immunities” and “Become Immune to knockbacks”, we will have to face decap engi for 6 more months.

94. Conquest mode is so good, I could play it for years non-stop!!! How can anyone ever want other game modes? I will name my firstborn Conquest. The problem is that you guys are thinking too much. This change will be exploited, it’s obvious. Because you can select you team before the match even begins, or switch teams as the match is in progress, winning players will all coordinate to be on the same team, i.e., they will look at who played best and choose their team based on that; this happens frequently already in hotjoin. They’ll also be able to switch in the middle of a game to go over to the winning team, and so on. This will encourage massive exploitation and unfairness as the system is set-up atm.

Yeah, the autobalance and choosing-your-team thing needs some revision. It’s no fun the way it is right now…

No, it’s not about a tourney experience, it’s about a better hotjoin experience. Soloqueue and hotjoin are two very different beasts.

Why can’t people at least not disagree to make hotjoin a bit better? They won’t even be the ones working on the code, lol. If you don’t play it, the change won’t affect you, so why post something stupid against it? If you do, it’ll probably make your experience better, if not, please explain why.

But I guess there’s no way around it, every time someone gives a suggestion about hotjoin people will always say “go play tourney” or “hotjoin sucks, it isn’t supposed to be decent”, oh well…

With the new reward system I’m already seeing a lot more people abusing the autobalance system (ie. spectate, wait for autobalance, join the winning team).

Quick temporary fix suggestion: When you leave a match or spectate you’ll get no rank points or glory for that particular match / or make it that when you leave/spectate you can’t rejoin that particular map you left.

Don’t waste your time answering “yeah, it’s hotjoin, it’s supposed to be broken”, some people still want to have a somewhat decent casual pvp experience.

And change the class mechanic from elemental swap (which leads to the mandatory points in the arcane tree) to something like a Mana bar that fills up when you attack/get hit. When it’s full you can unleash a really powerful spell based on your attunement, or maybe change into an “Avatar of Fire/Water/Lightning/Earth” with 5 new skills depending on which attunement you were when you used your full charged mana pool.

So the Arcane tree will become the mana tree or something, making the mana spells more powerful. All eles should have fast attunement cds without the need to spend points there.

I want to hear your suggestions of how the Mana spells would be like for each attunement.

Those problems are probably very easy to fix and will all enhance the casual pvp experience.

I was kinda expecting the “yeah… well… hotjoin is supposed to suck anyway.”

Spectate needs revision

So, the Spectate system – it is nice indeed to watch how people play and the builds they are using.
BUT we’re facing some major problems with it.

1) The Exploit to teleport on any map, specially Legacy of the Foefire. Whenever you hear “Your lord is under attack” you can just very quickly switch to Spectator mode and then come back to your team. You’ll still be with the same amount of points you had, and now you’re instantly back to the base. You’re on the far point and need to go to the home point? Just do this. If you’re fast the chance someone spectating getting your place is very slim.

2) You happen to spectate a 4vs4 match where Red team is holding two nodes and has 300 points already, and blue team has 50 points and is struggling to hold a single node. You will just join the Red team, making the dominating team even stronger. In this case I think people should be forced to join the weaker team.

3) You’re in a 4vs3, in the team with 3 players. You notice your team is starting to get crushed by the 4player team. You Spectate, wait for the auto-balance and join the better team. People are doing this all the time…

4) The ridiculous situation in the beginning of a match, where people are deciding which team to join. Two of the highest ranking players in the previous match are on Red, and the lowest ranked player of the previous match is on Blue. People will just keep waiting and waiting until someone else joins the blue team so they can spam the button to join the red team. Some matches stay just like that (2vs1 with 8 people or more Spectating, just waiting), and people start leaving because they refuse to join the team that will obviously lose.

Can anyone confirm this?

The strength IV adept trait “Short temper” isn’t giving me the 3 stacks of might nor the adrenaline on blocks. How cool is that? I’ve been running with a trait that doesn’t do anything for quite some time lol Tested in Spvp matches and against the pvp npcs.

Very annoying bug:
When you join a pvp match with signets already equiped, you don’t get the passive effects until you change them for some other utility and equip them back.

Confirmed this on my elementalist, thief and warrior. Even the heal slot signet won’t give you the passive effect until you change it… lol

Well, I gotta say I’m really loving the S/D Fresh Air Ele in spvp. The burst is insane, and killing thieves in a fraction of a second is a dream come true (sweet, sweet revenge >D)

Lightning Flash makes my openings very strong and unpredictable, and if someone can survive the initial burst it’s all OK, I can also survive just fine with well timed dodges, blinds and protection while I kill them quickly with the following bursts. I always keep RTL in reserve so I can run if two enemy team mates decide to join the fight – that coupled with Signet of Air and FGS gives me enough mobility (plus the crazy FGS burst with signet of earth!).

With that said, conditions are the weakness of this new Fresh Air build. If it didn’t have this weakness it would probably be too OP tho… but yeah, please spend some time with the new FA build before complaining too much. Soon we will see thousands of other professions coming to cry about it, you’ll see.

So after updraft with S/D you’re optimally going to land Fire 3 + 5?

The bad thing is that they’re not burning by the time you land Fire 5… if they were, man… I think I have a solution, but that would mean wasting a precious utility slot – Glyph of Elemental Power. After your combo they would be Weakened, Crippled and with some luck you would hit Fire 5 with them burning. Too bad this glyph sucks and I don’t think I could replace LF or Air Signet with it. What do you think?

Ridiculous Bug in Spvp:

When you start a match with the #1 trait in Virtues (Unscathed Contender – +20%dmg while under the effect of Aegis), you won’t get the Aegis buff! lol Even if you had it before, it will remove your aegis. You won’t be able to get the Aegis even after waiting 40s with virtue of courage I think.

1. More active and situational use of skills, pets, minions, phantasms

It’s not fun to just unload your offensive cooldowns while your pet does everything for you on automode, and the only pet control you have is a single skill every 20-30secs. Micromanaging and having control of basically “two characters” (or more) at once makes it less brain dead, challenging and fun. You can of course leave the simple, automated option for beginners, but give more advanced players the option to do so.

Phantasms should be managed the same way – specially seeing how braindead and strong the phantasm build is now. Give the phantasms more skills and a way to control them – just pressing a button and watching them unload for 5k-8k dmg per attack is only fun for so long.

Basically get away from the “passive” mentality to making things more active and situational, rewarding intelligent gameplay.

2. New game modes, the sooner, the better.

This is on the top of almost everyone’s list as we can see. I know the devs are also fully aware of this – how can they not be? No one can make a world class mmo game nowadays and think that players will be satisfied with only one pvp game mode. The only reason I can think of that a new game mode isn’t already available is that they are saving it for an expansion.

Hi, as the topic says the Lionguard Escort Event on Bloodtide Coast is bugged (server: Gate of Madness), you can’t start it in any way, but it keeps showing in your screen when you’re @ the nearest Waypoint to Lion’s Arch.
It’s been like that for one week I think.
