I get why ArenaNet made it this way. I just miss obtaining skills at certain levels. The utility skills are like that to a point. You need 5 of the first tier and then 5 of the next tier and then 2 of the next tier. I just remember that feeling in other MMOs.
I remember being excited about the next 3 levels or so and having a really strong ambition to hammer through those levels to get that skill I wanted to play with. With GW2 it’s like my incentive to level is a little less on my alt because I have all her skills and I’ve explored all the map. Perhaps there are hidden things I missed but for the most part there isn’t much new.
In my opinion, the shield is the worst by far of Guardian off-hands. Which is sad, because to me a shield is the quintessential weapon of the Guardian. My main gripe with the design of the shield is that there is no block ability! It is a shield. By design that is what all shields are for. I have no idea why the focus has what I think is the best block in the game, yet the shield has none. Personally I’m of the mindset that the Guardians focus 5 skill and the shield 5 skill should be switched.
I also think that Shield of Judgment should have it’s CD reduced or maybe a damage increase. I really like the aesthetic of a shield on my Guardian, but I always ask myself “Why am I using this offhand when the Torch provides far more damage and the Focus far more utility and arguably greater defensive capabilities?”. I don’t really post much, but I am just trying to see how the rest of the community feels about the shield in respects to the Guardian profession. I think the Guardians shield could use a polish.
I understand that the shield is supposed to fill a supportive role but I feel that that’s the place of the focus. It seems that every other profession uses the focus as a supportive off-hand. I think that the shield is a very important symbol of the Guardian and should be extremely effective in all situations, not just group situations.
I find focus and scepter to be a little un-guardian as well. Torch is alright, but I don’t ever use it on any of my professions. I look at it and think “This is not a weapon and it does not look aesthetically pleasing at all.”. That said I enjoy my guardian. She’s definitely gonna be my second level 80. Personally, I’m running sword and board and GS. The only thing the guardian is missing is a better ranged weapon. They need to rework the scepter or rework the staff into a ranged weapon. Or let us use a longbow. I could see some guardian longbow skills.
I like the way my human female shouts “Retreat!” and I would be very said if they changed it. That said the way she shouts “Save yourselves!” is my favorite. I can’t imagine not having that in my utility set up simply because it sends chills down my spine every time I use it.
My understanding from the developers is that virtues exist to offset the guardians lower base health. Guardians regenerate health through virtue of resolve and get a free block from virtue of courage. There are several abilities at the guardians disposal that grant aegis. Defense, then offense.
/hurray would be nice. Unsheathe your sword and point it in the air kind of thing. /joke is something I miss. Emotes with some dialogue would be nifty.
I’d really like to be able to change my characters names. I would specifically like to swap names I already have reserved. I’m sure a name change service will happen eventually, but a name swap would be really helpful. Otherwise I’d have to change Char A’s name and then change Char B’s name and then change Char A’s name to what Char B’s name used to be.
I’m not sure how many people would use a swap service, but I really hope that when you do get around to implementing name changing, that you add the option to swap two names you already have claimed. I’m not sure why a name changing service isn’t already implemented. I feel that it is something that should have been out on release. I want to give you my money and you won’t let me.
Argentina is a representative democracy. It’s government is incredibly similar to the United States, so while your comment is incredibly offensive; it’s also wrong. It’s also off topic and political; politics don’t belong in a GW2 forum.
OP, I’m sorry that Argentina is excluded from the contest. I hope an ArenaNet staff member sheds some light on this, as I’m really curious why other countries are excluded.
So, this is less of an event as it is a farm fest. On Devona’s Rest at least people intentionally delay slaying the dragon for as long as they can in order to farm the elemental waves. I want to slay dragons. I can never slay this one because every time he spawns people want to farm it for an hour or two. Then people get disinterested an leave. I waited for about an hour trying to kill this guy. There were about 20-30 people at first. There was only one other guy trying to break the Ice Wall. 28 people just content to farm up.
Which I understand. It isn’t there fault that this event is flawed. =\
