Wardrobe Unlock and Gemstore Bundles

So, I unlocked the Macaw Wings Glider with a Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlock. To my surprise, it didn’t unlock the Macaw Wings Backpack. Since I can only get the backpack bundled with the glider I thought this works the same way gemstore armors work, you unlock the entire bundle. It would also render the unlock useless if I decided to buy the Macaw Wings backpack (or, well, make the backpack too expensive to buy since I only get half the value out of it).

So, is this intended behaviour or just an oversight?

Holy kitten. What the kitten do i have to do to get you guys to stop looking at the numbers and saying it leads to the same outcome. IT CHANGES PEOPLES BEHAVIOR. So, it will not lead to the same outcome as people will play differently.

You are claiming people are playing different because every server is gifted meaningless points. Do you have any statistics backing that up or do you just assume people are morons and don’t see this through?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. The response to 2,1,1 is mixed, so I thought I would inform everyone that we will be changing it to 5,4,3. This is intended to go out around the same time as Episode 4.

Will 5,4,3 be shortly followed by “reducing night capping” by making off hours 4,3,2 and 1,2,3 depending on population?

Only reason i can see why 5,4,3 would be an option.

So gifting everyone 2 instead of 3 points for participation during off hours will make them less important?

Since people do not get it, here’s what 5/4/3 does: EVERYONE gets 3 points every 2 hours. This will grant your server 252 points at the end of the week.
Winning a matchup grants additional 2 points while being in second place grants 1. These are the points that matter.

When we reduce the matchup from 5/4/3 to 4/3/2 for, say, 4 matchups per day, the guaranteed points get reduced from 252 to 224. No changes in the outcome since you are just subtracting the same amount of points from every server.

All that strikes me here is that ArenaNet believes 5-4-3 is different from 3-2-1 (but well, I didn’t understand why they went for 2-1-1 instead of 1-0-0, which at least allowed us to directly read how many skirmishes a server has won).

Wasn’t there a study that if you’re given the option of
A: Everyone else in your group gets 10 000€, you get 25 000€
B: Everyone else in your group gets 100 000€, you get 50 000€
the vast majority of people would take option A?

(Former) WvW-player here. Why do people think it’s good to have things gated behind WvW? People playing WvW/PvP for the rewards only do not necessarily align with the “real” WvW/PvP players trying to win (the zerg fight/the matchup/the 1v1) and even sabotage it (repairing a wall which instantly splits our zerg and kills us/clogging the WvW-map/running over people 1v1ing to get participation). I would complain more about that, but on my server we already have been in that situation for a long time. We had an agenda that made every large scale fighting guild (I’m not going to call that GvG. That’s a disgrace to GW1 GvG. And no, I do not hate you when you do this. But you cannot give your mode the name of the king of MMO PvP) leave the server. The desert borderlands made all small scale fighters leave the server, so the majority of the playerbase we have now is senile people jerking off to PPT. Hence the (Former) at the beginning.

If you want to play for rewards without interfering on the success of other people, play PvE (since they fixed open world in that regard). There is no problem in having the majority of skins exclusive to PvE since this is the only game mode where you can farm for your own goals without being a liability to other people (or say, the rewards are fully tied to success, instead of having to learn 3 different classes in PvP which may cause a lot of undeserved losses for the rest of the team, or having to do arbitrary things to keep up participation, but may get the entire zerg killed).

The next thing is once you have built up max participation, you only need to do 1 event/kill every 10 minutes and you get exactly as much as a person actually contributing to WvW. This is the equivalent of getting the exact same amount of PvP reward tracks in (un)ranked as in hotjoin or the participation problems in PvE at HoT release.

The third thing is the Gift of Battle itself. I don’t want to do the reward track. I want to get triumphant armor or hero’s weapons (bummer that we do not get the mistforged ones). And even if I’m done with all this, I want to get my last chak weapon for the Hivemaster. And I do not want to have another timegate in my Legendary acquisition. I’ve done enough of that by having to do the same world event three times during my precursor hunt, by waiting for an extremely rare event to happen (or, in HOPE’s case, to fail), by dumping lots of Spiritwood into the second collection and by waiting for HoT metas.

By the way, why is the GoB still limited to WvW? If we’re here now, make the reward track available to PvP, too. Make players at least choose their devil.
Before you tell me, GoB has always been a WvW item, ask, why it has to stay one? Are there non-arbitrary reasons for it? Is the “of Battle” suffix indicating WvW more than PvP?

lol no… Cele exists because it was a PVE thing, that came out with a living world patch. Not until a long time after was it added to PVP. It was a mistake to add it to PVP in the 1st place it was never intended to be there.

Actually, this ancient guru post mentions the PvP Cele Amulet back in Jan ’13, while the Bazaar of the Four Winds brought Cele to PvE/WvW in Jul ’13. Though people considered Cele as a bad stat combo back then.

Nevermore IV:

Fereind o the pups and hounds: descriptions swapped.

Friend of the puppies doesnt work. Even after using repellent on sick dogs:no collection item

Friend of the Rabbits: The event required was removed with the New Player Experience

Friend of the Owl Spirit: While not being bugged (except for having the wrong tooltip), requiring “Kill the Svanir shaman before he completes the Dragon totem” to fail (“Protect the owl spirits from Jormag’s minions” does not need to fail because Kill the shaman spawns upon success or failure regardless. Upon success the owls don’t need to be revived, so you might be faster completing Protect the spirits) makes people wait long times until they finally managed to bribe/flame away/whatever everyone who is just completing Snowden Drifts. Shouldn’t we be happy to see other players? Wasn’t this one of the GW2 selling points? This has never been less true though I am usually unhappy to see other players anyway (thanks to scaling, bosses healing upon damage and stupid knockbacks).

The owl one makes players have contradicting goals in an environment where we are supposed to be happy about any other player. This leads to frustration and thus to toxic behaviour.

The unobtainable ones make me shake my head. I thought the rabbit event was removed during the New Player Experience a year ago. I guess the Hound/Pup one can happen but it needs to be noticed ASAP.

Pick 2 words to describe Rev this beta

in Revenant

Reema.7360

Extremely lackluster.

The Revenant has nice support options on paper. Ventari and his traitline provide a lot of AoE-Heal, increased for his allied and… decent for the Rev himself. Jalis grants a little stability, 50% (?) damage reduction and a taunt and Mallyx can draw conditions from allies to foes. The problem is the lack of damage, movement and self-sustain. By far the biggest problem is the lack of movement.
Ventari traits make the Rev heal his allies better than himself while he’s pinned to that plate as Ventari works this way.
There’s a leap on staff #5, Mallyx’ Unyielding Anguish and that teleport on axe #4 for Movement and most skills lock the Revenant in position anyway (hammer #3 and #5 most notably). There is no damage mitigation except for the Rite of the Great Dwarf (which has a kitten huge cast time).
The direct damage is very low but I see Shiro with Sword/Dagger as a silver lining. There’d still be a problem of what legend you pick as second one.
Talking about condition damage, it might be me being too stupid for Mallyx, but all this torment stacking cannot compete at all with guards/eles stacking burning, warriors stacking bleeding and burning, rangers stacking bleeding, burning and poison, terrormancers or mesmers and engineers stacking everything. Most notably that the Rev has to set up conditions on himself before being able to set up a decent amount of conditions on the opponent. Though the Mallyx condition setup seems to be close to viable.

Another issue is that you tie your weapon(s) to your main legend which usually makes using F1 a bad idea. Ventari and Mallyx combo quite well with “their” respective weapon set (Jalis and the hammer are not best friends, the issues were already adressed in this thread).
The legends themselves cannot be used for skill combinations (most notable Ventari) like people do with the two weapon sets on other classes (Mesmer setting up illusions using both sets for a shatter, Warrior stacking might and adrenaline with GS, switching to hammer for a stun combo to switch back to GS to 100B the stunned opponent down, et cetera) as Jalis and Mallyx don’t profit from each other and Ventari cannot set up for anything and healing neither needs conditions on opponents nor taunted enemies.

All in all the lack of self sustain and movement makes the Revenant an easy target in PvP or small scale WvW but the Revenant is not a threat that needs to be dealt with. Pretty much the opposite of what classes should be.

Relax, guys. It’s just an early implemention of the Fata Morgana effect for the desert borderlands.

Joke aside, on “World peace” maps, the map chat is shared and commander icons are shared as well.

The question is, is this bug PC based or account based? I guess it’s the latter, just because reinstall does not fix anything. Or “-repair”. “-repair” is crashing btw. At 40% Windows notices that it is not responding anymore.

I don’t get why you people seem to tag better with a GS than with a sword. For me it’s easier to run in melee range and spam 1 than to tab through the whole mob horde. But if tagging is that important, why would anyone play Mesmer instead of staff guard anyway?
