Something definitely need to be done in this regard, if you don’t come up with a full guild group it’s very difficult to find people to group with. If you’re a solo player, it’s more or less impossible. I was happy with gw2 suppressing the trinity because it was definitely easing the group formation, but this problem kind of negates all the benefits. And i support the idea of a worldwide tool, so you can have people to group with at all times.
That kind of tool would indeed be very enjoyable.
The truth is that such huge server imbalances are not fun for the servers on the losing end.
Honestly it’s also absolutely no fun for the winning server.
Honestly i’ve lost most of my hopes of seeing this nightcapping issue solved after MF’s last post. So it seems you have the following choices :
- Accept your frustration and continue playing on your server.
- Transfer while it’s still possible.
- Just quit playing.
Discussing it and posting again and again about it is pointless.
Obviously a tricky topic for you, but i can’t agree with your positions here.

Players who spent hours taking and defending forts, when all their efforts are wiped in 5 minutes by nightcappers playing in PVE mode will probably agree with you.

They will never experience the same content as the majority of players since there is nobody against them besides NPC’s when they’re playing, but well, maybe i’m wrong since the start and WWW is supposed to be a giant PVE battleground.

Just because I dont live in the US (i’m Australian) shouldn’t mean in our peak time, WvW should mean less, I dont think you know how much of a whining idiot your making yourself out to sound. If you cant handle 3 faction 24/7 WvW, get back to your PvE
Nothing to do with being US or not, the same problems happens here on EU servers too. And he might look like a whining idiot, but you people playing out of your timezones and wanting to have the same impact on world than the players from the server’s timezone are selfish, you have nobody against you at night besides NPC’s and you are capturing empty forts. So OF COURSE what you achieve should count for less. Right now, the WWW is just totally ruined by that.
No region locking, just drastically reduce the amounts of points gained and the upgrades available for forts at server zone nightime. And for the people who are going to complain “Do i deserve to have a lesser impact on world just because i live in another timezone or because i play at night ?”, yes, you definitely do, because all you do is fighting against NPCs, and zerging empty forts in PVE mode.
I’m playing on Vizunah Square and all that i can tell is that nightcapping isn’t a myth… It’s a true problem for our server and for the ones we are playing against. The only people who are going to tell you otherwise are those who like easy wins or the kiddos/lamers who believes that being on VS make them some kind of elite and that can’t take any criticism. Honestly i don’t really see how people on VS can have fun or be proud of winning in this situation. Last weekend has been a proof of that with VS being beaten on daytime and taking back all the maps in no time at night. At 4 AM we had 10K points less than FS, and at 8 AM on Monday we had 30 K more…
The most obvious option would be to divide the number of points granted during nightime or raise the number of points taken during peak times (that should be around 4 PM to 1AM in Europe, but Anet knows that better than us). Limit the upgrades available at night too. I am not saying that VS can’t win without nightcapping, because we have very organized guilds and alliances with talented RVR players. But i would prefer to win in other conditions and with more equity. Right now with nightcapping, winning just doesn’t prove anything.
And for the people who are saying they would be penalized by such a rule because they can only play at night, please tell me how the WWW at night is enjoyable… Empty forts taken by the Vizunah bus in PVE mode and Vizunah players camping at the others servers’s respawn with siege weapons … Definitely great fun and enjoyment.
