I tried necro tanking tonight. Went just fine, really. Very reminiscent of DK tanking in WoW, but I have to consider my own healing much more. I stuck with dagger mostly until I got used to the build, then threw in some greatsword. Switched to full DPS when the regular tank came on, and got some pretty awesome Gravedigger crits. Topped 22k. I know that’s probably low for a Gravedigger crit, but it was the highest I’ve seen so far.
I wouldn’t solo fractals. My guild does fractal dailies fast and easy. I’ll keep that in mind, though. And it looks like I’m going to have to go with scholar, because I don’t want to have to scrap my old valk armor.
Thanks, I’m going to give this a shot, if my guild leader will let me. If nothing else, it’ll be awesome for fractals. That said, I’m going to be a bit of a cheap-kitten and keep using my strength runes rather than buy scholar.
Okay my leader decided to go ahead and post the video because there’s probably enough Vale Guardian kills by now:
I really enjoyed watch you tank as reaper. Tbh you did a better job than others classes in others videos i watched.
Glad you liked it as much, but I see many things that could still be improved by a lot. It wasn’t a horrible run by far, though.
What’s your build? Looks like reaper MM from the skills. Are you using viper or sinister?
At the moment, you can only see your money and gems in the bar beneath your inventory menu. You can mouse-over to see everything, but I miss being able to see my karma at a glance. I think it’d be great if you could set which currencies show on your bar, including dungeon and fractal tokens.
As it says. Would really like to complete my Zojja set.
but in the end, it is really the fault of the guild leader for giving him so much power and authority.
So, it’s the fault of the guild leader for trusting this guy and considering him a friend, and not the fault of the other guy who purposefully carried out these actions? Shame on the victim!
You were saying I was making things up and suggesting I be honest and truthful. Call me crazy, but when people say that, it sounds like they’re calling me a liar.
And yeah, I get what you’re saying: support can’t help and Arenanet apparently didn’t think the whole guild thing through. In WoW, the guild leader can’t be kicked by anyone, and can only step down or be forced out if inactive for a long period of time. In GW2, apparently any shmo with kicking privilege in the guild can boot the leader and take over.
Thanks for letting me know my guild is gone and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Geez.
Well, thanks for calling me a liar when I didn’t have all the information. He changed the MOTD and announced the new name of the guild, despite the actual name not having changed. I figured he could change the actual name of the guild just as easily. But hey, apparently I’m making things up now.
Well, the guy’s renamed the guild and changed the logo, so that might be a sign he did it with the intent of taking it over and robbing it…
So let me get this straight. If I were to join a guild, gain the trust of the people in charge, become promoted to a position that lets me change ranks and kick people, I could boot or demote everyone and take over everything and that’s perfectly all right in the eyes of the developers?
You know, it’s not just guild politics, the guy stole gold from the guild. That’s gotta be some kind of punishable offense.
Earlier today our guild leader was kicked from the guild by someone newly promoted to a #2 rank. Since Guild Wars doesn’t prevent the guild leader from being kicked by just anyone, he and a friend were booted and the culprit made off with the guild’s stash of gold. Said culprit is still the guild leader and demoted anyone who was of an appropriate rank to kick him or promote/demote anyone.
Basically, he stole the guild out from under everyone, and there’s no way for anyone to reclaim it. Heck, this is the closest forum I can find that would even cover something like this. I tried filing an in-game report on the culprit in question, but again, ‘scamming’ was the closest thing that fit.
Is there anything the GMs can do about this?
In shooting games it’s not as efficient or accurate. For a game like this, it’s just fine. Prefereble, in fact, since there’s a lot more jumping and such going on, and you don’t need to aim nearly as precisely.
I’m totally in favor of native controller support.

Hoping to join a guild that does dungeons/fractals and guild missions, maybe some WvW. Nothing hardcore, I don’t really have time for that kind of dedication anymore.
