—-TARGETING SYSTEM AND GROUND TARGETING SOLUTIONS—-
(because that system has some issues, you see the Attached Guide to understand better)

———-TARGETING SYSTEM———-

-Highlighting an object:
When an object is in a central vertical area on the screen, it becomes highlighted, showing its name. (yellow example in the attached guide)
If there are more object than one in that region, only the nearest is highlighted; the max range for this feature is “1200”.

-Targeting:
When the object is just highlighted, we can use the “Lock autotarget” (Hold to lock your Autotarget) key in “Options/Control Options”, to hold for using skills on the target, if it’s an enemy.

-In conclusion:
This allows to target your object, while you are looking at, by holding “Lock Autotarget”.

SUGGESTION:
This is an additional targeting mode:
While holding TAB, the highlighted object becomes targeted, and if the camera is moved onto another object, it becomes highlighted and automatically targeted , then the button can be released and the target remains.
This allows to target the highlighted object by just “pressing” the key.

————-GROUND TARGETING————

When the Mouse Button Right is held (Change Direction) and then we use a ground targeting skill (… for now press twice to cast the skill) the position where we cast the skill is the same where the pointer was before we Hold Mouse Right Button to “change direction”.

To solve this, we can move the pointer at the center of the screen every time before we “change direction”. The center of the screen is higher than character’s belt… if it’s not an asura :-) . If you try it, it’s very unwieldy (because usually we look down) .
If we raise the pointer at the head height becomes very simple and intuitive to use ground targeting fast when we use “change direction”, but it’s more difficult when you want to target a most distant object.

SUGGESTIONS:
I suggest to adjust and lock the pointer position when we use “change direction”.
For a better ground targeting, I also suggest to add a vertical line to area of effect ring (you can see photoshopped screenshot in the attached guide) and also to add a limit to the area of effect ring and to lock it when it reach max range of the skill (this feature visible or not as you prefer), with no more red area of effect, this to avoid fail cast.

I have read other posts when someone suggest to move the camera a little bit higher to have character’s head under the center of the screen or at the center …and add a crosshair… But i don’t suggest this. I think it looks ugly and not good to this game.

GUILD WARS 2 IMPROVE CONTROLS SUGGESTIONS

I apologize if something is not clear; I can’t write well in English, maybe you will notice it, and I asked help to a friend for the translation.

—————-INTRO—————

-The Guild Wars 2 Control system was born since lost times by ancient 3rd person RPG and adopted by World of Warcraft and hundreds of other RPG and MMORPG.
It is obvious to use that control system as a strategy to satisfy and to catch all players who comes from these games.
However, for those who tried a large variety of games with different genres and then he saw how much a Control System can be efficient or unwieldy or incomplete… these people will confirm, if we play fast and hard (example in the pvp), this Control System is incomplete and unwieldy for Guild Wars 2.

-Guild Wars 2 was thinked to have free movements even when we cast a skill, but this is in conflict with the mouse pointing targeting system and then it was “fixed” with the AutoTargeting and with the usual TAB Targeting. (I see that you are trying to improve)

What I propose is an improvement to the mouse control system with some changes to fix issues that would be created by not using the pointer in the fighting, making very little changes to the original system.

—————MOUSE CONTROLS SUGGESTIONS————-

-The most important thing:
The opportunity to have the “change direction” command (at the moment Hold while moving Right Button, you can see the attached guide) always On must be given to players , by making an alternative-not-replacing command (for example Double-Right Button), and in addition making this “mode” easy to disable by pressing again one time Right Button and also add an auto-close function, when we open a panel that requires the use of the pointer. (Hero, Inventory Panel, etc..)

-Another important thing:
If we remove the Mouse command Right+Left Buttons bound to Move Forward, we could bind the Weapon Skill 1 to the Left Button when “Change direction” is Active.
I think that this can give a better feeling of combat. In many videogames many players like to repeatedly press Mouse Left to attack, even if there is auto-attack function; it isn’t the same thing with keyboard keys.
(In the attached guide I have removed the Weapon Skill 1 from the keyboard but ONLY FOR PERSONAL CHOICE)
