This is a great answer. I’ll work with it- I’ve already had great success with torch in pvp (so far sword/torch seem to work best with Greatsword as my main.

Hammer is amazing utility though. I don’t think you should stick on it as a main weapon but rather recognize opportunities to use its control qualities and use them and switch back to your main setup.

But man if you can get a 1, 1, 1, 2, 4 combo off on someone it’s pretty neato.

Any additional build styles? Do you have to be glass cannon to fully function with this build or can you go tank/cond dmg?

I’ve been doing nothing but Sandbaggy point hold builds and crit/blind/weakness/burning builds with sword/focus, scepter/shield… Would really like to delve into fire things and I believe scepter/torch sounds promising.

I would like to stand out from warriors as I don’t want to be an imitator. I’m going to try out a few of these. I feel like I know my way around the trees well enough to put something together but I was worried that other classes would make you explode before you could do anything worthwhile.

Any idea what portion of damage is reflected within a given attack? Does a DoT tick extinguish the effect or just reflect little or simply not apply at all?

Would any class be able to viably create a tanky-thorns build that is retaliation (possibly burn also) based?

But seriously I really like the torches 5 move with the flame breath. It actually does pretty decent dmg provided the target can stay in range (unlikely). It just seems exceedingly squishy and it lacks the utility of every other offhand/itemcombo.

Have any Guardians out there found themselves doing any kind of dmg build that excelled with the torch (that could flourish in pvp)?

I don’t even think heavy emphasis on condition dmg is necessary just burn dmg and power/prec as the ticks can crit, I believe.

Thoughts?
