It is indeed a joke. A joke on the Arathi Highlands which is right next to the Hinterlands.
Good to see some actual data. Sad that it’s necessary though, this is the kind of thing the game makers should share with us.
With a sample size as low as this (admittedly a lot of work even as is, but still low statistically), I’m betting that those results are well within error ranges and not statistically significant. As you can see you do have 9 “No Drop” in your first 10 minutes of farming, so seeing an 11 and 9 at the end really isn’t an outlier. There are also plenty of 1 “Item Drops” spread throughout, so seeing a couple of zeros at the end aren’t all that surprising either. Your highest crafting mat drop rates were towards the middle of the experiment as well.
This could be indicative of a decreased drop rate on certain items after a set amount of time or kills, but the data simply isn’t conclusive.
I very much agree. Everyone keeps telling me that thieves have such great mobility, and that they can dodge most anything or insta one shot people with ease. It’s just not true, or at least it isn’t without really abusing the system. Most every class has great mobility, so that just isn’t unique to the thief. Even my guardian has a “shadow step”. Therefore, mobility doesn’t help me survive longer than anyone else really. In the end the only thing I’ve really got that nobody else has (or at least has as much of) is stealth.. which just doesn’t help a lot because I hit stealth and die a second later anyway from people simply attacking the area around me.
When I first started Spvp my thief had 10k health. I was pretty much insta gibbed. I had no idea that this wasn’t how it was supposed to be, but after playing a guardian and looking at its whopping 17k I realized that maybe my thief needed a bit more health (I can’t see how much my opponents had, so I had no way of knowing really). So I went back onto my thief and changed out my amulet/talents to get quite a bit higher. Sitting at 26k now, and I last a little longer.. but it’s still not nearly enough. I had to sacrifice too much of my damage to get any amount of survivability.
I’m not really all that bad at the game either.. and it’s not like I don’t have a clue what I’m doing on a thief. I leveled my thief to 80 in PvE mainly, with a bit of WvW. I know the abilities and what they do. I just find it hilarious that I can struggle so much with this class when I can get on a guardian, level to 20 in PvE and jump right into Spvp and get top player in almost every category in well over half my matches.
So, I just hit Straits of Devestation and I’ve been swimming around underwater unlocking everything. I’ve felt pretty weak underwater for the entire game (it easily takes me 2-3 times longer to kill anything UW), but this is just ridiculous. Normal mobs 3 shot me and the Veteran ones 1-2 shot me. I can’t kite them around because there are so many of them that I just end up pulling more. I can’t melee them because they’ll kill me too quickly. About the only thing I can do is spam my #5 evade while attacking skill till I run out of initiative. Nine tailed strike is nice, but after the block ends when I get attacked I counterattack and most of the time I’m dead before the counterattack ends. The spear’s #2 ability moves you around so much that half the time the mob dodges it trying to follow you and the other half the time you pull more mobs. The #4 ability pulls YOU to the mob, rather than the mob to you. That just puts you inside a giant pack of mobs. There are tons of enemies underwater, and a thief seems to have little/no real AoE UW. In the end it just feels like every part of this was designed to be utterly broken. My gear is as high as I can get it for the most part, upper 60’s to low 70’s, and I’m currently 74 in a 72 area. What am I doing wrong? Is everyone else having these kinds of troubles?
