Idea on how to improve Stronghold PvP mode:

in PvP

The elements used in Stronghold are very tedious and need to be streamlined. Running to the center to gather supply only to then have to run back to use the gathered supply is very un-PVP like. If it was Anet’s intention to emulate a MOBA style of gameplay everything should be automated. As soon as the match starts, archers and doorbreakers should pour out automatically. The flow speed could be controlled when a player completes the channeling (“gathering supply”) with the effect taking place immediately. Or they could just convert the center into a dueling area that warps one player from each team to duel. Selection could be random or voluntary. The winner gets a Hero spawn.

[Suggestion] HQ Crafting Items

Crafting in this game should have better benefits. Sure, experience is fine. Ascended crafting is fine. Unique skins are cool… er, wait a minute, before I counter my own argument XD.

What I think that I mean to say is that there needs to be more of an incentive to KEEP crafting. Once max level is reached, crafting becomes a very minimal thing.

So why can’t there be a chance of a higher quality of item being made when crafting standard recipes.

Imagine crafting a Pearl Greatsword and having a chance of a Named greatsword appearing as a result, possibly even a Precursor.

This would not include skins that have their own recipes, but all other skins that appear through random means (mob drops, chest, etc.).

[Suggestion] Class Trials

I think this would be good if it’s something lower level players can access. When I first started playing I was mostly pressing random buttons and hoping for the best, even well after hitting level 80. Eventually through enough forum lurking did I become aware of what I was doing wrong but nothing in the game give me any clue as to what I was missing out on. I didn’t even know combo fields were worth anything until I heard of ele might stacking.

I agree with Silmar and VodCom though, it does seem a bit artificial. It would have to be really well implemented and have some practical purpose to it or it would just seem unnecessary and awkward. It would also have to be optional because not everybody needs or likes this kind of thing.

I envision that there will be easy trials for new players to learn the basics and difficult trials for veteran players to squeeze out all possibilities from a class. I also wouldn’t imagine that players should be forced to complete these trials, but there should be a way, in-game, to learn complex ideas such as might stacking.

so what you want is even more kids friendly stuff in GW2?
i rather have them tone down this kiddy stuff before they add anything new to learn, this patronizing is getting ridicules >_<

I wouldn’t say kid friendly but a much more comprehensive demonstration of completing specific skills and actions. For instance, characters are made aware of combo fields through a leveling reward, but he/she is never really “taught” in game.

Through a trial, more information could be presented to players. Players would be more inclined to study traits and determine what could help complete a trial.

Example:
Elementalist Trial 25 – Using all weapon and utility skills, gain 25 stacks of might.
Warrior Trial 15 – Using a sword and utility skills, gain at least 15 stacks of bleed.

People proficient in these classes could easily complete these, but there are tons of players who have never even looked at their skills close enough to know. I believe that through these trials, people would be less inclined to just “1-2-3-4-5” rinse and repeat.

I believe that all people could benefit from a challenge/trial system for each class. Each trial would start out with using basic attacks/skills and progressively become more difficult. You could easily introduce the combo system and other little subtleties that each class carries. Let me give an example for the Thief class:

Example:
Thief Trial 1: Use HeartSeeker…
Thief Trial 3: Gain Stealth using combo blast on a Shadow Wall…
Thief Trial 5: Kill an Ettin without moving/ using only weapon skills…
Thief Trial 7: Reach the other end of the room without moving, using only weapon skills.
Thief Trial 10: Using all weapon and utility skills, maintain stealth for at least 20 seconds

The possibilities are endless with challenges even utilizing skills not often used at all (Thief Traps!!!). It could help players think outside the box.

This system would look similar to other games that use this system such as Street Fighter 4’s combo trials. I imagine it could be either accessed in PvP training or maybe even an Order base for training in the PvE world.

4k Small UI

I recently started to play GW2 on a 4k monitor. Unfortunately even when the interface is set to the “Largest” it is still too small. I checked “Larger” under Interface Size and “Large” under text size. I couldn’t find any solution, so I reverted back to 1080p where the windows were at a size I could read. Did I miss an option for this or am I out of luck?

Yeah I heard that was the case for Fine Dining, the steak one, but I’ve opened tons of champs bags and consumed every drink I’ve found thus far.

I was curious if there was any requirement for Hero of the People, Fine Wining, and Brewmaster. I see them on the wiki but I don’t have them listed on my Collection page. Anyone have these?

They could create a coliseum that would serve as a portal to the WvW sPvP queue much like the puzzle portal.

Curious if it is possible that sPvP could serve as a way to help a server gain a bonus WvW? (Maybe as an alternative to Bloodlust)

I think that it would be a little more exciting to see a Hero’s Ascent style message stating that " so and so team/guild has won favor of the gods for your realm" while in WvW.

This could be connected to sPvP team queue or even a special queue that is entered from WvW.

It would definitely promote sPvP and promote player/team popularity on servers.

This would definitely bridge all aspects of Guild Wars 2 together.

Two Handed Weapons and Double Magic Find?

I think that issue wasn’t pressed anymore since two handers were said to have a greater damage output versus the single handers having greater utility. I do remember that being in question.

So I was trying to max out my magic gear and noticed that all weapons with Magic Find have 3%. Shouldn’t two handed weapons have double the magic find? All other stats seem to reflect that when compared to one handed weapons. Nothing major but just pointing that out.

Meta Boss Pre Req/ Pre Events

Right, that was part of what the developer was communicating. He also suggested that some events were not starting because these other events needed to be completed “successfully” at least once during the spawning period. I think that this was in response to a Tequatl not spawning post. I spent a while trying to look up developer posts, but can’t seem to find it.

Thanks for pointing that out. I checked the link sources (at the bottom of the wiki) regarding that, but some of them are dead now.

I was trying to point out to someone in-game that certain bosses won’t trigger unless certain events are completed. Events that may seem unrelated and are not pre-events to the bosses but are still part of the meta “zone”. An example would be Sister Brenda’s event “Protect the brew shipment” in Queensdale.

I know about the post referring to the Shadow Behemoth spawn bug, but there was another one regarding these event checks and how some bosses may not be spawning within the timers because of it.

Anyone know which developer made a post or know the link to the post about spawning requirements for meta bosses?

I remember the developer stating that although certain bosses do not have Pre-Events, they do have prerequisites that must be fulfilled before spawning. My memory is a little hazy of the exact wording, but it goes something along the lines of :

Once the boss is available to spawn, the system does a check on certain events to see if they have been completed or not. If one event is marked as failed the boss will not spawn until this event is completed successfully. I think that Tequatl was one of the examples, but I could be mistaken.

Streamline PvP by making PvE optional

in Suggestions

RickyNo.5834

There are too many PvE elements in PvP. I believe that a lot of adjustments can help streamline the entire PvP process of getting from the lobby and right into the action. Seeing the changes to the WvW interface makes me believe that PvP should benefit from these types of changes as well.

For starters, I should have the option of joining a game straight from the PvP panel, rather than running to an NPC. This would include an option for regular and tournament play. We basically queue into a PvP match as we do for WvW Battlegrounds. I do like the immersion that Hearts of the Mists brings, but for the sake of expediting the process, this running about should be optional.

Players should have the ability to access multiple builds complete with weapons and armor selections. We should have the option of changing these builds on the fly before a match starts. To put it into perspective, accessing builds should be as easy as changing a class in Call of Duty (forgive the reference if anyone hates this game). To build onto that idea, the developers should have pre made builds ready to go for newcomers. This could give any PvP devotees an insight as to what the developers believe would make a great DPS or Bunker build. People would be more apt to experiment knowing that the build they are comfortable with is accessible without the need to leave PvP to rebuild.

We do not need inventory in PvP. There is an awkwardness that comes when accessing your inventory in PvP. Everything PvE is frozen and unclickable. This clash is made more apparent when we need to access a PvP locker to transfer items into our inventory in order to use them. So instead when I hit “I” in Hearts of the Mists, the PvP locker should open instead. Viola! Everything we need that is PvP is accessible immediately. There should be no need to run to an NPC to “buy” runes and jewels. They should be available from the PvP Locker and behave like dyes. Why is there an option to store jewels when we need to buy a new one from an NPC anyway? Everything is free, so why can’t everything be accessible from the PvP locker. No need to transfer one glory booster into my inventory when I can just double click it on the PvP locker. The default skin can be added to the collection and behave like a dye (always available if needed) and equipment skins can be dragged directly to your character. This leads to my next suggestion.

Remove a portion of the Mystic Forge process. I believe that using the Mystic Forge is a little too complicated to be interesting in PvP. I find myself jumping back into PvE to retrieve a forgotten PvP Salvage kit way too often. Breaking skins down into components seems trivial and too time consuming to belong in PvP. In order to forge a new pair of leggings you need 5 Arcane Powders, an Arcane Orb, an Arcane Crystal, and one Leggings Token and you will get a….. a random pair of leggings. All of these smaller components should be removed and we should be allowed to throw repeat equipment directly into the Mystic Forge. Maybe we could even trade them into the NPC for a small amount of glory.

Making adjustments like these will make PvP streamlined for people who want to focus on PvP and not have to rely on a PvE setup in order to get to the action.

Eyepatch style head armor?

Thanks for replying. I’ll go check it out at the vendor later on. I was kinda hoping there would be a regular ol’ eyepatch. Take a look at my character. I’m convinced thats all he need to complete his outfit. I also wish he could have a cigar sticking out his mouth at the same time, but we all can’t be perfect (lol).

I am looking to outfit my medium armor character with an eyepatch. The only ones I have found so far are ones that I believe a sniper would wear. They only seem to cover the left eye as well.

Are there any plain eyepatches that cover the right eye?
