Koga:

Even the fixes you mentioned would be nice. Those would be inline with what they promised in the second post. A complete 8 dungeon overhaul may be a bit much, but actually would be easier for them to pull off than adding 40 new fractals, when you think about the scale of both projects. I still think they could make something better instead of the grindy, boring content of the current dungeons, especially if they can create 40 new fractals.

I wanted to point out that in the Lost Shores and Beyond post in the News Topics, that the following was stated about future plans:

“Revamping all of our existing dungeons (Story and Explorable versions) through rebalance and overhauled encounters.”

I also distinctly remember reading an article claiming that dungeons will be “made more rewarding, less difficult and overall more ‘fun’ to players”. I remember this article stating that this overhaul would take place in February.

On a side note, WvW was also promised to be revamped in February.

This does not seem to agree with the new plan in place — the plan calls only for a revamping of boss monsters inside and outside of dungeons and places everything on a much larger time frame.

Practically everyone agrees, the dungeons are grindy, boring, and leave you wanting some form of reward more than the mere 60 tokens per path per day. They are ill-designed, buggy, feature PoI’s that cannot be gotten to this day, due to bugs (and there is no point to the PoI system in dungeons as-is). Gigantus Lupicus has remained bugged on Arah explorable path 4 for the majority of this month, and if the players so happen to “fix” him by running the npc back from the beginning after exiting the dungeon, the Dwayna Priestess can only be realistically done with a group of four warriors and a mesmer, or five warriors; this is due to bugs with placing the orbs to make her vulnerable, combined with an unfair ‘fix’ that made her immune to damage while invisible and able to purge conditions while invisible. Few classes can successfully finish the ‘Dungeon Master’ title currently due to this issue. The orbs have always been buggy since the game started — and making this priestess the absolute hardest boss in the game with having an insane DPS check mechanic does not live up to the original “you can do any of the content with any type of party combination.” I know this has probably old hat and has been brought up countless times.

But in accordance with the new information released, it does not seem like the dungeon fix will go through on time — or perhaps not at all due to the lack of mention of it specifically. It has been mentioned specifically before. Changing the overall plan and not polishing this part of the game would be a mistake. I feel dungeon content was shoddily put together and rushed. I feel that a great majority of the game was rushed — and I look forward to a chance at redemption this next year. But I expect, like many other true fans of the game, that a true, honest polish of every major feature will take place. And sooner is better, especially when you promised us fixes by February, and it now seems your team is postponing by a year.

If you can get us more specific information, the dungeon crawlers of the game would be appreciative.

Jumping Puzzle Feedback [Merged]

A minority of players cannot complete these timed puzzles is what you are saying? This may be statistically true. But, everyone I know except for two people can finish every other jumping puzzle in the game without jump shot/leap of faith/portal. However, only 2 people I know can do these timed puzzles. This is out of 60 or 70 people. I hear a lot of angry voices in the wait rooms for the puzzles.

From what I have observed, the minority are the people who can complete them. I saw many players resorting to hacks that enabled them to skip large portions of the Clock Tower puzzle, where they would be waiting for legitimate players to catch up, and throw slander at them every chance that they had. They made mockery of several trying to complete the puzzle, yet they also could not legitimately make the jumps.

Not everyone plays Guild Wars 2 via the same control schema. I have successfully done all of the other jumping puzzles fine by taking the time to line up my jumps. I do not use the mouse to move during my jumps, except in a few rare instances. This is one of the reasons that I think that these puzzles should not be timed. Not everyone uses this fps-style WASD/mouse combination. Making a puzzle challenging is fine. Making it fun is fine. Finding ways to let large amounts of people do them simultaneously without the timer is a challenge. But I would like something that doesn’t push just about everyone I know to violent cursing, damage to their equipment, and negative sentiment towards an otherwise good game. I think many agree with this point — Christmas and rage don’t mix. The truly patient people that I know amongst my group will just give up and not do these puzzles, as they don’t want to lose their temper. The others push themselves to long hours of attempts filled with rage and the inevitable rage quit. Challenging games are fine, and not every challenge is expected to be completed.

But, finding the right balance of challenge to fun is much harder — and I think that Guild Wars 2 has failed miserably at that with both holiday puzzles. They just aren’t fun; and I believe that is the true majority sentiment, as much pain and cursing as I witnessed in the Clock Tower over several hours for several days. Even both players that can do the puzzles that I know did not like them and found them annoying.

Also, on the subject of missed poi’s, I am missing one in the starting room of Crucible of Eternity as well. It says that it is up above the entry Crucible Access Platform. Is that one I missed on the front door path? Or is this one bugged too?

Does anyone know how to get the poi “The S S Cuttlefish” in the Golemgate Delivery Dock, within Crucible of Eternity? It is listed in the wiki but I have been unable to attain it by approaching the sub from various angles within the last room. Is there some secret to getting this poi or is it glitched for now?

Does anyone have the point of interest located just east of the Utility Passage area? If so, how do you get to it—what mode/path of the dungeon do you have to be in, and what are the directions to it?

Looking for good WvW server

Riddle Bladesdon.1735

We are looking for a new server to move to for the intent of having a more enjoyable WvW experience. We are looking at leaving Ferguson’s Crossing due to a lack of participation server-wide in defending our realm.

Sell us the idea of joining your realm.

Some criteria we would like to consider:

-As short as possible wait times to get into WvW via queue. I realize that it will be longer than we currently have, but still, list your server average queue time.

-Participation and honorable combat. Tell us some of the stories of how your server maintains honorable combat (such as when Borliss Pass had someone hack and steal and orb from Isle of Janthir, they then honorably allowed Isle of Janthir to reclaim their orb without interference). Tell us why you don’t have a problem with people logging out to prevent credit for a legitimate kill. Tell us how much participation you have server-wide and what kind of organization/planning you offer.

-Strategic leadership. Tell us why your server has the best leadership, how you meet, how you plan, how you discuss WvW.

Tell us why your server is superior and why we should move there. We are not looking to fully dedicate all of our time to WvW, bear this in mind. But, we want an enjoyable experience when we pick our days to join in.

WvW Solution to Keep Hacking/Teleporting

Just a suggestion, but wouldn’t it be possible to make the Champion and its group invulnerable if one of the keep’s/tower’s walls/gates are not down? For instance, in a keep, if the external wall and door are completely intact, and the internal wall/door are completely intact, is it possible to make the Champion Defender and its group invulnerable? In this way, it would be necessitated to have breaches, and keep defense would play its intended role.
