Bump bump bump!

(In case there’s any confusion, we still run dungeons and have a rank for folks who want to focus on dungeons and speed clears. There is a screening process for the rank, but it doesn’t prohibit other ranks from running dungeons.)

No credit for No Culinary Application

I was in an instance with a friend attempting to get achievements for living story. I consumed the Bloodstone Pie before even entering the fireplace and had the little yellow icon that showed I was eligible for credit.

We completed the entire instance and I had the food buff the entire time. However, I only got credit for “Distorted Reflection”, not the “No Culinary Application.”

The only thing I can think of is that my friend started the instance and had not consumed the pie as he already had the achievement.

Weird lag

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that we are aware of the lag issue and that people are working on it. It’s possible that one of the sandstorms got a few geodes lodged in the servers , but they will find out and fix it as soon as possible. Hang in there with us, and thanks for being patient!

Thank you very much for letting us know that you’re on the case!

Game lagging on Dry Top map.

Yeah, Dry Top is still lagging hard (SoR, NA server). It is pretty much impossible to do any events there. It’s only in Dry Top, and I’ve put all graphics on lowest possible settings. Still seeing skill/interaction lag and random deaths.

I’m pretty disappointed, having waited all week to try the new content due to work only to find it unplayable. Maybe one of the devs could just let us know they are aware of the issue? Even if they don’t have an exact timeline for when it will get fixed.

For light armor male, the feathered armor chest piece shows quite a bit of skin.

I’m not sure why illusionary would be filtered unless Anet was catering to the particularly oblivious pvp’ers who would mistake someone named “Illusionary Mesmer” for a phantasm.

Indeed, but it was in a part of the forum that doesn’t seem to be frequented by players – the email that I got back when I tried submitting feedback directly suggested that they prefer suggestions be discussed in the forum before they look into it. So, I figured I would prompt people to discuss in the Discussion section.

It would be nice if it were patched, but this has been brought up before back at almost day one. It seems unlikely that it will change unless we push for it.

It seems like a lot of gaming companies are fumbling with privacy issues. Steam will automatically update your last log-in even if you use their invisible mode. Blizzard doesn’t even have an invisible mode for battlenet. It’s like there’s this trend where you can’t play a game without it being announced to everyone, and I’m definitely not a fan. I’d like to see Anet put in a system similar to what they had for GW1 that allowed you to play with some relative privacy when you wanted to.

Did you change your graphics settings? Sometimes the higher quality graphics setting adds a glow effect and lightens things up. Also, you are standing on snow. That may have a reflective effect on your armor.

invisible mode

(This seems like the best place to put this thread, considering the broken aspect of this feature.)

There are some serious flaws in the implementation of the “invisible” mode. These flaws have been pointed out in the forums before a few times, mainly in the archived suggestions forum, but they have yet to be addressed.

First off, your online status is broadcast to everyone who has you on their list the moment you hit “Log-in” on the splash screen. This is a huge mistake, essentially defeating the purpose of having the “invisible” option at all. By the time the option is available, it’s too late. Guild Wars 1 had the option to log in as offline, and this game needs that same feature for the exact same reasons it was introduced in the first game.

And then there is the constant location update. Anyone watching their friends list or guild tab can see your location change even if they didn’t see you log in and go invisible. Instant drama. Basically, if you are going to be invisible, people should not be able to see your current/last-known location.

I would also argue that for this same reason the guild tab should not show changes in representation status when appearing offline. If you rep another or no guild in order to avoid being spotted by your orange name in-game, other guildmates can see this. Again, this destroys the purpose of going “invisible.”

So in order for the “invisible” mode to actually serve its purpose, some serious modifications need to be made. Essentially my suggestions are 1) allow the user to log in as offline and 2) don’t update locations or rep status unless the user status is online. It would spare people a lot of drama and a lot of headaches.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy spending time with my friends – I love sharing this game with them. I’d just like to be able to play alone once in a while too, without having to explain to every single person on my friends list what I’m doing. No, I’m not sad; no, I don’t want to talk about something; no, please don’t join me; no, you didn’t do anything; no, I’m not upset; OK, now I’m getting upset; and by the Six just let me farm scales in peace!

Seriously, this needs a fix.

Sleeping with one eye open

I’m not sure if this was a bug or intentional, but I’ve noticed that my male sylvari will sleep with his left eye open. Has anyone else noticed this, perhaps on other face models or races? It’s a little creepy.
