Polished Content?

While this content did have major bugs, I still enjoyed it and think the majority of people have as well.

The problem with the Living Story expansions is that they cannot be completely tested before releasing to the public. “Public Test Servers” then people say. Well that is an option, but it is not an option if you want to tell a dynamic story as it goes along. Part of the excitement that people find in the new content is that it is “new”. You get to be the first one to experience and learn something. I find that enjoyable. Am I also one of the first to see the annoying bugs? Yes, but I also know they will fix it and the content will be around long enough to experience all of it.

Games like these come in two forms: Television and Movie. TV episodes are released more often and you get more, especially considering you don’t pay for it; Movies come out much less often and but they are usually higher quality and they aren’t free. I enjoy both and I actually appreciate the effort Anet puts into all the additional content they are constantly releasing. I also played the first game since the beginning and saw how far they came over its lifespan and I expect the same from this game.

"unplayable" lag issue.......

Sorry, im ether having brain fart or somthing or ur just not being clear. Clear this up for me and ill see if i can help.

Op u first talk about Lag, then Low FPS, then ur ISP/Lag again. What exactly do u have an issue with? Do you have ‘Lag’(lag= Internet/network latency issues causing delayed responses) ..or do u have low FPS ?

Yes to this. To each of you having problems with “lag”, please be more clear on what you are “lagging” at. Internet lag, or lack of response to your commands, is not the same as graphics lag, or low FPS (Frames per second). Please clarify so that we may help you further.

To the OP, and others, sounds like you are referring to graphic lag, or low FPS. Forget about your internet connection at this point, as it has nothing to do with your problem. My only suggestion at this point, until provided with more information, is that it may be your power settings. Your graphics card may be down-clocking itself to preserve battery (if on a desktop) or use less power (if on a desktop). Look into changing when your videocard downclocks itself. Sometimes they do not recognize when you are using exhaustive programs for long periods of time, or it may be due to overheating.

Player Base: male and female ratio?

My guild has quite a few ladies. They are the most active in our mumble server a lot of the time. I’d say they are about 25% – 30% of our active players.

The combat system need some changes - in my opinion

Guess I am the only one that dodges to avoid an attack as well as position myself to avoid the next attack better. For example, I will often dodge to avoid a melee attack from one mob, and get behind an object like another player or tree to block a ranged attack that is coming before I regain endurance.

Pretty sure i read there will be no paid expansions, so i’m not sure when if ever this stuff will be added..

They only said they are not currently working on a expansion, not that they won’t ever. And I think they have done a great job at adding free content so far and look forward to more.

Mega events should be epic

The Fire Elemental used to be a pretty epic fight. Then they made it easy. And then made it a pinata for free loot.

You used to have to actually have to pay attention to the battle. Raining meteors that may or may not one shot you/knock you down. Embers dropping 3 mini volcanoes each unless you killed them off quick. Slow moving fire trails that did a ton of damage if you did not dodge.

I remember all the dead bodies from people at the entrance because they didn’t realize you needed to spread out, kill the adds, and watch for the boss attacks all at the same time.

It was one of my guilds favorite events. Well I loved it, they all hated me for making them come and work together to show it could be killed somewhat easily with the right skill haha. At first they all thought it was impossible, but over time we would often get through it with few to no deaths. We recruited lots of people at our little boss events.

I'm GWAMM and love GW2

GWAMM here. Loved the first game and love the second. GW2 has a lot of things it can improve on, but it has more that it has done right in my opinion.

I do feel the GW2 world lacks some “soul” in comparison to the first, but maybe I’m just nostalgic. I do have faith in Anet to continue evolving the game to be great though. I remember being amazed at just how much you could see Anets abilities grow from Prophecies to Eye of the North. Achieving GWAMM really made me appreciate the world they have created.

Seriously, Can we have some form of Henchmen?

I can understand the desire to be able to do dungeons with just NPCs, however, I hope everyone understands that Anet intentionally made dungeons for party people. They want things for all styles of play, and dungeons are meant to fill a specific goal: be an event that only well organized players could complete.

I sympathize with wanting to be able to enjoy the lore solo, because that’s what I like to do when exploring. I think adjusting the story mode to fill this goal for people who find dungeons too difficult would be a great way to to allow them to still experience a little taste of them. The way story mode is now, parties don’t want to do them anyways.

Guild Bounties Now Punish Smaller Guilds

I agree that there are some issues that should be worked out, like finding Sotz or random people joining in on Komali, but in general I think the bounties are great the way they are. Its nice to have something challenging when a lot of the game is missing that. I have a couple solutions for some of the problems that seem like a shared concern.

1. Smaller guilds should group together. My guild has found that hiring what we call “mercernaries” works best. And by hire I mean exchange services. We then do the tier of bounty that works best for many people we have available.

2. Get a commander. I know this will harder for very small guilds, but considering smaller guilds are usually friends and family and should be more willing to chip in to get a commander time. Squad chat should help alleviate the issue of not being able to cross-guild chat. A better solution would be for Anet to add alliances, but a squad should work well for small guilds.

3. Use Dulfy. Learn your battles and paths. If you have a full party out looking for an NPC you should be able to find with enough time to kill. Exceptions for Sotz, but he sucks in general.

4. Visit my thread on my bounty hunt findings and app idea. I would like to write an app to help guilds of all size coordinate better, but no one seems interested thus far. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-Bounty-Discussion-App-proposal/first#post1808072

Guild Bounty Discussion/App proposal

I would like to start a little discussion about Guild Bounties and strategies. I have an idea for an app that I think could really help if people were interested, and if people think it will work. I would also like the app to include other guild tools if anyone has suggestions.

Insert Wall of Text:

Background:
So my guild regularly runs bounties each week. In general we do at least one T3 for the merits and then T1s to help people get their weekly credit. We are usually successful, even on the T3s (exceptions for Sotz and his barrels, but that is another topic). I am sure our strategy is the same as most: scout out as many targets ahead of time, and then start the bounty when X amount have been found.

Here is the thing though: prep time. It seems to take 30 minutes to an hour to get everyone wrangled up, and then send out 1 or 2 people to scout each target. Then you have to start the bounty and decide who goes where. I think it is especially hard for guilds with large numbers of members to try and organize. I have noticed people get a little annoyed at setup time for such a short event.

Considering Anet has mentioned that you should not have to pre-scout targets, I decided to get my hands a little dirty and do some research. Here is a summary of my findings:

1. Even the longest target paths (Bookworm Bwikki, Baked Komali, etc) can be completely tracked in ~15 minutes with no speed buffs and without cutting any corners (I walked them, thank you Dulfy and contributors)
2. Initial target discovery time under above conditions was 4-7 minutes. (Thats me, solo walking)
2. Targets can be killed in < 5 minutes. (I observed as many guilds kills as I could during my tracking sessions and casual play time)

Proposal:
A lot of time is wasted scouting. I think most targets could be easily found and killed in < 15 minutes using what I will refer to hereafter as “Strikeforces”. Using an app that allows you to select the bounty targets and participating guild members will accomplish this task.

This is basically how it works:
1. Create a guild roster (Name, map completion, etc. This step is only needed once; will save data for later uses).
2. Select participating guild members (From above list).
3. Start Bounty Hunt and select the targets from a list.
4. App automatically assigns members to strikeforces (using map completion info)
5. Send out strikeforces.
6. Profit.

Now you wont need to assign every member to a party. The goal is to just have enough people in each party to find and kill a target without waiting for others to arrive. So if you do a T2 bounty, ideally you will have 15 people selected for strikeforce assignment (3 targets * 5 people in each party). Anyone who is not in a strikeforce can choose where to go to help and receive credit. (Such as breaking barrels for Sotz, or helping find the Fire Shaman Arderus).

The reason I think this strategy/app will work is efficiency. Will you already know where the targets are ahead of time? No. But if you have parties of 4-6 people looking for a target they should be able to find the targets in < 5 minutes, leaving ~ 10 minutes for them to kill the target, not to mention the fact they will be able to start killing almost immediately once they find the target.

I know there are a few issues regarding this strategy/app. Some of the bounties are harder to find, such as Sotz (Blast you and your barrels!!!), Prisoner, etc, but you can direct the extra non-strikeforce members there . Initial setup time could be a little long because you would have to query each member about completion status (but only the first time and I bet you could get it done before all targets were scouted the normal way.) There are other things I haven’t thought of at the moment or just did not type up, I know. But please provide feedback on the basic idea first.

Feelings? Thoughts,? Concerns? If I wrote this app would you or your guild be willing to try it? Are some of my time calculations off? How long does your guild take to find/kill some targets? What game-breaking things could make this strategy/app not work?

tl;dr I am going to make a tool/app to help guilds accomplish bounties without spending a ton of time, provided there is enough interest and people think the strategy will work.
