i’ve played 300days/7200 hours on FFXI and still going,thats more game time than all the games i’ve ever played lol,guild wars 1 gave me 250 hours if that

Well iirc cause i’ve been out of the nvidia loop since 2008 but the GTX model’s are the top models of any model number.

well it has a 3 year warranty which is always nice,and from just a quick look its a full size card so will be better than your old one,problem is i don’t know how much “better” so you would be better off asking around the forums/researching.

I would always recommend stretching as far as possible money wise for a graphics card as its one of the more important parts which is hard to skimp on,if your idea was to spent $110 push your self to $150-200 even if it means you have to save up a few weeks as its worth the wait

huum looking at few pictures it seems your card isn’t a full size card? if so forget my comments about those coolers.

if the fan is dead then the only home fix is the aftermarket cooler route iirc

what card is it? is it under warranty.if its not super old and its just overheating and not showing any sign of damage I.E graphical artifacts on screen then you may be able to buy an aftermarket cooler for it,there generaly cheapish

to fix it,huuum,well i don’t know what Case and cooling you are using or how old the card is.

if its an old card then out of warranty then it might need its thermal paste renewing and the stock fan resitting.if its new and in warranty i’d get on the phone and have a talk to the shop you bought it from,that is if its not you causing the overheat duo to poor cooling/ventalation.

A duh question but your graphics card is spinning yes?

get a visual confirmation just incase you are hearing other fans in your case

i don’t go over 71c in any game/test and that is with 50-70% fan speed,so if your going to 106 at 100% fan speed you have a big heat issue i would say>

GW2 i don’t go over 64c

106 is deadly hot

Though those settings in the SS aren’t my final settings,that was when i 1st started tweaking now i have it all on high except texture as 32bit systems can’t choose high settings on textures

also have you tried the GW2 file repair to see if it magicly helps.

Can’t go from there till you are there ^^

I.E we will know if you’re overheating if so we cool it more
if your fan is set to default and too low we set a higher fan speed ect.ect

Download this to see your temps/fanspeeds/graphics card usage:

Then download Furmark or MSI combuster and see what temps MSI afterburner is showing while Furmark/MSI combuster is running.if your temps are high or your computer can’t finish a full run of these tests then go from there

silly question but you did try to run the “Repair Shortcut” you made and not the original desktop shortcut?

You said you have the GW2 client already downloaded yes?
and when you run it it disapears?

Something like this happened to me the 1st time i put the Disc in and i think if i remember right i opend the Disc in My Computer and ran it from there instead of letting it autorun and thats how i got mine to run.

just curious as reading your thread i’m not seeing the bigger picture other than the problem discribed.

Also have you tried multiple driver versions or do you keep reinstalling the upto date ones

any chance of a screen shot of MSI afterburner or something simliar showing fan speeds temps and usage at your normal settings monitored before you crash?

I can tell you now thats not a good sign,very rare you should see anything like that lol.

main culprits would be GPU overheating,broken card due to overclocking too much like a bigginer.GPU related in general.
try updating/reinstalling GPU drivers.download MSI afterburner to check exact temps/fan speeds and do some memory tests to rule that out.a brand new machine should never be showing graphical artifacts like that.

funny now i’m out of the area i 1st started i am getting 45-60 fps and GPU usage is now 65-75% in an area that is alot bigger and has more A.I and objects,go figure

so you are basicly saying when a game uses default “auto settings” or any other setting for that matter it should set fire to the rig and explode in a raging fit,cool story helpful guy.

with that logic atari games = the new crysis….

i’m in game as we speak and i can’t wrap my head around it.you turn shadows to low or ultra and i dont see any shadows!

bare in mind these are the games auto detect settings lol,which should be optimal for my setup but instead its acting like its all on ultra

i’m just messing around with the settings and the sampling seems to be an issue i’ll get back to you in a minute

my sytem is not overheating for the 3rd time,i have a big pile of games and my sytem in all the time i have had it has never EVER locked up or bottlenecked,so i can asure you there is something a miss with this game

You gotta remember .. as nice as BF3 looks..a MMO can be just as demanding whilst looking less good.
Just becouse somthing doesnt look as nice doesnt mean its less complicated or easier to render.

Anyway my 560ti is factory OC’d to 950core and 2290mhz memory (4580mhz effective) and it runs at constant high usuage.. So its normal.

Also it dependso n the staritng area. The Sylvari have a REALLY demanding starting area ..closly followed by Asura..then i think it goes Char ..then human ..then Norn.

i agree to a degree but a £300 card should’nt be maxing out on auto,low,medium,high of the bat ect.

it doesnt happen on any game.im talking straight to 100% no fluctuating and eventualy locks up.i’ll load the game up now to check out the starting area name

bare in mind i haven’t moved from the the 1st place the game puts you when you 1st start,as i havent gone more than 20 feet!.

“auto” settings should not make your GPU almost set on fire by the way.

no you are not correct,the temps dont go over 70….

and the fan is on a manual setting,the noise isn’t the issue,its the fact that on all settings this game is pushing my card to the point of getting noisy which none of my games do.i get an almost constant 60fps on BF3 with my setup almost with all setting on max and dont get 100% load

Well i just bought the game and installed it and the auto settings are making my GPU run at 100% in a basicly empty area,just made a thread hoping to get soem answers as its not a normal thing for my system to be struggling on auto setting on any game as i play most my games in high-ultra so im confused,even on low its struggling

i just bought the game,installed it and let the auto setting set the graphics for me to see what the genral FPS is coming out at before i started tweaking and my GPU is hitting 100% which is a 1st for my setup on “auto settings” as i play mostly everything i own on high-ultra.

i am in the process of making a ticket while asking here if anyone else has had this problem.
i was looking forward to playing but i refuse to set my setup to subpar “low” just to stop my GPU sounding like a jets taking off cause of the unsual 100% usage.

CPU and memory arnt bottle necking so im confused.
