Build theory seems rather nice. I do wonder how you get 28k-30k HP and 2500-2600 armor with 1100 (+/-) condition damage in spvp with shaman gear, or any gear for that matter. I can never get near 28k hp, I get around 19k. The toughness and condition dmg are obtainable, just not the hp.

Well in the video this is the stats I have. In the post I say in SPVP the build is gutted. I cant run the build because of how restricting the amulets are. I have to try to get as close to the stats as I can, and usually end up with a kitten ton of toughness and less HP. I think there is a reason for the amulets being restricting to stop people from making OP builds like you can in PVE/WvW. But i dont like being restricted on my builds.

Skimming through the forums would provoke one to believe that necro is a weak class with a million bugs, but my experience with my necro throughout this game has been very enjoyable. PVE and Leveling was much easier with my necro than any of my other lvl 80’s, and PVP is amazingly fun. The strengths and utilties of a necro in thier element is unmatchable. All this said it seems the proclaimed “Attrition” class seems to be largely misunderstood. I wanted to make this writeup/video to explain my theory of the necro and how to be as efficient as possible in both SPVP and WVW.
I have 1000+ hours clocked between my necro and my mesmer and I do alot of WvW (Commander), as well as Paid Tournys, though in SPVP since the amulets stats are very restricting, my build is changed a ton. Nowadays I do alot of dueling and people are suprised to see a necro beat some of the classes people think are more powerful and people ask me my build so I made a little crappy video
Most people either run condition necros with rabid stats, and ofcourse I have tried this build as well as power builds with necro. I always come back to the build and theory I find the most effective with my necro in PVP. I think Rabid stats and pure damage stats are great for PVE, but not in PVP and I feel they miss out on a lot of what necros have to offer. The main difference in my build than most necros is the fact that I highly encourage priotizing Tankiness (Toughness and Vitality) OVER condition damage, and think of condition damage as a secondary. At lvl 80 with full gear in WVW i aim to have about 28k-30k HP and 2400+ toughness with 1100 (+/-) condition damage. Most necros go for more condition damage and want precision as well, but I feel my damage is powerful enough as it is and the amount of bleeds I would gain from precision would not benefit me as much as toughness or vitality.
the zerging in almost all aspects of this game really does not give a chance for the true complexity and beauty of the combat. In small scale pvp and duels you will see how everything you do really matters and you must counter and react. I wish there were more areas in the game with small pvp like this weather it be 1v1’s or 3v’3s etc. were around to really show the competition, complexity, and potential for pvp. So much so that I have taken a break recently from GW2
I made this crappy quality video to show some dueling and give some real time pointers. The video quality isnt the best and I would suggest running it in Youtube’s Large Screen instead of Full Screen. Incase you want to know the exact build I run I use Tahlkora Armor, Chrysocola Jewelry and those + to all stats jewelry pieces, and Shaman stat weapons. This is close to the stats I can get but not perfect and a good player can improve upon the build ofcourse it is not perfect I am just a normal player, albeit a very good pvper.

The best tips I can give you is to know your enemy, know when a mesmer is about to burst you, know when a thief is about to start heartstabbing, know what moves stack conditions on you so you can transfer them at the right time or use deathshroud:::
fear at the right time. During Heal, During Low HP, Interupt, Utility:::
Use the staff as a main weapon, because of Putrid Mark and the Reapers Mark:::
Putrid Mark is game changing, removing all conditions from all allies including yourself and transfering them, you do not need to be inside the aoe, use this at perfect times when you know you were just stacked with so many condi:::

Corrupt Boon is game changing and can Insta Gib:::
Mark of Blood I prefer because of the 10 stacks of might, making up for some damage lost for survivablity, but this is opinion:::
master deathshroud usage:::
Going 20 into Soul reaping not only makes your deathshroud health pool 20% bigger, it also makes it replenish so fast that you will always be able to use it, as long as you go for Soul Marks (Gain 3% Life force when using staff skills)

Oh no they talked u into making a warrior? Turn back while you still can, warriors are good in pve cuz nothing moves away from them. But trust me, and also look at any PVP forums or any PVP player, even A.Net PVP developer in an interview about warrior pvp said “we are having a hard time making warrior work in pvp”…. if u are interested in pvp or wvw, u will probably quit game after u make ur warrior lvl 80 unless they get some serious buffs. Very very difficult to be efficient in that area with them and even if you are, there will be other classes that can beat it.

if u want a class that is good in both PVP and PVE pick Necro which is in the meta group in pvp (meaning NEEDED in tournaments) and also facerolls pve.

If u want the PVP dominant OP characters, heres the one you want. Mesmer, but hes hard at low lvls n PVE. And thief.

btw, not trolling, no bias here, i have 1000 hours into this game and ppl say i play it way too much ( i understand why ) i am just saying the truth i’ve learned thru my wealth of experience in every class and 4 Lvl 80’s

I think I found the problem here.
The game came out end of August. So there have been 4 months. Thats 2880 total hours. So yes if you play PvP 12 hours a day everyday as you are claiming then yes it gets boring.

Didnt I just say I had 1000 hours played? Lol wheres this random number you come up with to try to insult someone. Anyway, plenty of people have 1000 hours played by now, the games been out 5 months. Go away if you have nothing meaningful to add.

I hope the Dev’s really take a look at this thread and the reddit thread and see our feedback, I really really do, things need to be changed quickly we’ve waited long enough and never hear much back from real dev’s. I don’t want this MMO to fall like SWTOR and so many others have where they have to shut down 3/4’s of the servers cuz of no players.

The majority of responses on this thread on the official forums is alot different than the replys on the reddit forums. There is alot to be seen in the comments. This one is mostly the strict segregation of SPVP from the rest of the game, which I greatly agree is not good for spvp and what i’d like to throw in with this is why can i have a certain lay out of stats in PVE/WVW but in SPVP my stats and build diversity is severly limited by 90% of my stats coming from one peice, the amulet, which is only about 5 of them viable and very restricting to any type of diverse or differently weighed stats.

But the reddit link OP (me) posted shows alot more diverse feedback. I hope this gets more attention.

This gaurdian bunker syndrome can all be changed by giving us actual stat customization in spvp, not just amulets that only 5 are usable and have 100% of ur stats in spvp. This doesnt happen in wvw small group fights because gaurdians arent that strong when you actually have good stat build. Anyone ever think its the limited stats that make bunkers so strong? I think so.

people will get bored of PVE which im sure most are thats why they go to WvW. Will that large group fighting (30+ people in zergs) be enough to hold people with ever fluctuating server populations? I guess we will see, hopefully the game stops bleeding large amounts of active players

What I do find interesting is have you ever thought why people play WvW instead? Be honest now, cuz I am the same why, could it be because like to use the gear you’ve earned both stats wise and looks wise to beat others in PVP? Amazing, it almost seems like what most mmo players said they wanted the least, (a gear grind in pvp where gear is just as important as skill), is secretly actually what mmo players DO want, they prove it when they would rather play WvW than PVP if they do it because of rewards/thier gear. I know I would rather play WvW sometimes because I want to use the gear i worked so hard for or the look/legendary i worked so hard for in pvp and not go to spvp where none of it matters. I honestly feel most players feel the same way, amazing how this “anti gear-grind” thoery that GW2 imposed seems to be failure. In Gw2 PVP they dont go by the normal carrot-on-a-stick methodology, its just a stick, and it seems to not be working.

I am posting this in the general discussion section because no matter what any over zealous forum moderators may say, this is critical to the entire game of guild wars 2, especially the future and amount of playerbase. If I post in the SPVP section or get moved there, its like I am being quarantined to the same part of the forums that people like me and other SPVP enthusiastic people already know and already saying themselfs, and it’ll be preaching to the choir. I want all GW2 Players and moderators to know these problems.

This is on front page of reddit and is very true, and threads like that have been making front page every day, please take a second out of your time to read the comments and support for this thread

Why is this so important? Because more and more people are quitting the game, the majority of pure spvp players have already left or on wits end. And now people who have gotten to where they want to be goal wise in PVE, and people who want a change from the normal old PVE and WvW are also quitting because there is no SPVP to fall back on.
Trust me will happen to all of u, i have 1000 hours played, legendaries, etc, you WILL get to the point where ur tired of PVE and want to focus PVP, it happens in every MMO. But theres no fun SPVP in this game or support for it, so how long will PVE be able to hold everyones interest before people, dedicated players like me, just get bored and stop playing.

This is more of an important issue than the dev’s give it credit for, we need more support and help for spvp. Please just look at the link and the comments of other players in it. This is huge feedback for developers to see whats wrong with the neglected stepchild that is spvp. Every MMO needs strong pvp to keep the game alive, PVE will not do it forever. I came to this game back in august because I thought arena net knew this.

I also have Champion Illusionist title so this shows my TPVP play. Unfortunately I recently slowed on my tpvp drastically so I am only rank 25 in Spvp but that IMO doesnt mean anything lol.

What would I prefer playing? I know both classes like the back of my hand in pvp and pve. Skilled with both, if I had to chose I’d play necro for less responsibility with portals and such, but I love my mesmer either way.

Figured I’d post this on the official forums because I am an avid fan of this game and have played for 1000+ hours but am quickly losing interest. The main reason for me is because after your done with all your PVE stuff all there is to do is PVP and the PVP in this game has serious flaws, and anet has totally ignored support and updates for spvp since the beggining. I bought this game during prepurchase/beta days because of all the hype people were drumming up. That this game was going to be mostly a PVP game and that this MMO puts PVP first….

This post on reddit got alot of attention for a little while and I think its important that I bring it here so that hopefully some developers see the feedback and complaints from players, I think its very important to the future of this game and for Pvp that these issues are addressed quickly.

Main Points from players as of why not many play SPVP anymore:

-There’s no ranking system for s/tpvp so most people don’t really see a point in playing.

-Lack of any other game mode than “capture the point”

-Lack of support for sPvP from ANet, lack of features for competitive play. People who like sPvP are discouraged to put their effort in it, considering it’s been 3+ months and compared to PvE, sPvP got nothing.

-Strict segregation of PvE and sPvP. I know it sounds pedantic, but I’d sPvP a hell of a lot more if I could simply carry over my gears appearance in PvE to sPvP. The stats should be completely seperate and set at an equal level for sPvp (as they currently are), I just dislike that ALL PvE effort for armor and weapon skins is completely wasted.
The sPvP is too far detatched from the real game and you cant bring the rewards outside of the tiny pvp-world.

-Lack or proper matchmaking. Glory is a stupid grind and is completely unrelated to skill.

-“I´m tired of sPvP since it ends in zerging everytime. Seven people running together and your own Team suicides one after another into it instead of capturing the free spots.”

and last but not least, my opinion, so ofcourse its my favorite::::
*Lack of customization/build diversity. 90%+ of your stats come from the amulets, so theres only about 6-7 viable amulets/stat combos you can use at all. I cant diversify or customize my build or character when all my stats come from 6 cookie cutter amulets. This is absurd and is nothing like the rest of the game. Also, the “meta” (the best and only real competitive composition of professions to be on a TPVP team, you know, like every1 needs a gaurdian/mesmer/etc etc on thier team) ANET pvp developer seems to be okay and encourage this, but I feel there should be no meta and the game should be balanced enough that the top tier players could use any composition of classes/builds to win, other than bunker guardian/portal mesmer etc being absolutely needed.

i honestly really hope they do something about these problems soon, spvp seems to be dying, especially with the tournament ques what they are, and most freinds/guildmates i have that played spvp strictly have quit the game. so much lost potential in this game i hope it doesnt die like swtor and so many other mmo’s before. GW1’s pvp is what held the game up for so long, and with most players not being interested at all in current spvp, how long can PVE really hold the playerbases interest? This games pvp is nothing at all like the originals, sadly.

Gaile Gray, I am sorry that my last post might have been heated, Its possible I took what was happening the wrong way. Now reading these posts, as well as the ones that have been on reddit.com/r/guildwars2 the past couple days, it does seem to be very strange to be happening so frequently and to certain people with a lot of gold. No its not like its happening to everybody, but the amount of hacked accounts is for sure alarming, and I dont want that to be minimized. I know, or very much hope, that arena net at the very least can see where in game mail has went. So the culprits of such hacks should be able to be found, yet it seems like its not being treated on arena nets end as even an issue needing to be investigated. Yet more and more people this is happening to, and they are saying they were also never emailed, and some even had authenticator’s. I’ve also heard many theories of why this may be happening so much now, such as this being a direct result of the anti-bot/gold seller campaign.

Whatever the company’s conclusion may be, I know myself that there had to be something overlooked or some kind of problem with the system, weather it be in the customer support, website, or the game client itself because I know I did everything I was supposed to do.

I think the main question that people have been hacked, including myself, would like answers is :

When this system comes out to be able to restore accounts, will we be able to get what we lost back as well, or is it gone for good?

I’ve read on these forums a few times in the past of people getting thier accounts hacked and stolen, more so than i’ve seen in other games. I read them and dismissed them thinking, “well it’ll never happen to me, they must’ve done something wrong or visited some shady sites” and kept going about my day. Although a guy with alot of gold in my guild and the commanders in the EU servers being hacked scared me into making stronger passwords.
In GuildWars2 Ive been a commander on crystal desert for about 2 weeks now, and have had my legendary about 3 weeks. Today, sitting in wvw, i am booted because “someone has accessed my account” is the message. I immediately try to log back on but the password is changed. I find out how to reset my password and get back in to find my characters are still there n dressed but my 900 gold in my bank is gone. I worked the trading post alot and made alot of investments every event and got that gold from both normal playing and an hour or so a night playing the trading post/investments since release.
Needless to say I am very upset, put in a ticket and immediately change my password for guildwars2, I know my email was most likely compromised so i change the password for that as well, but I cant find any confirmation email sent from arenanet that my password was changed, so he must have deleted it and deleted it from the trash folder as well. For some crazy reason arenanet will not allow me to change my email address immediately so I put in a ticket explaining what happened….
30 minutes goes by after i logged in with the new password, sitting in LA alt+tabbed now changing my email password and boom, logged out due to someone accessing my account for a 2nd time. This time I cannot log back in as he must have changed my password again, and also, I try to reset the password again with my serial code number and this doesnt work either. It gives me an error and says to contact support, which is what I thought I was doing…..
So hacked twice, this time who knows what he did and im locked out of my account… I just want to say to the people like me who didn’t believe it when I saw it elsewhere…
I never went to any shady sites, I never gave my email out or put any information like that in public view.
All I can think is that I was targeted, and I am here to say its becoming more and more common. I did not have an authenticator for a cell phone because I dont have a celllphone. I don’t know what else to do but put in a ticket, which im sure will take a week or two to hear a reply from. I hear they cant replace or restore anything like all the other MMO’s ive played can. Its upsetting and I cant help but feel that the game isn’t secure enough. Protect yourself guys, its alot more common than you may think.

I use Norton Anti Virus, which says I am secure. I also use a seperate password for gw2.
today support emailed me and I regained access to my account. After the normal message telling me about how to regain my account now that theyve reset passwords etc, this is all I got in regards to everything this hacker has stolen:

Does anyone else think there needs to be more done about this problem I am seeing constantly now?

I frequently get asked “whats your secret?”, “how can i make money”, “what are you buying and selling”. The truth is theres a lot of different things I’ve done to get where I’m at, and the markets always changing, things you could do before you cant do now, and things you couldnt do before are now profitable. Well.. I got an easy one for you guys this time, its real simple, and its only a limited time avaliable… You know people like me love unstable markets. Well this event has turned the market upside down. Right now, the cheaper lvl 80 exotics, like the crafted ones you make yourself, are now worth twice as much, and cost twice as much to make, as the named exotics.. Such as Khilbron’s, Vatlaaw’s, Jatoro’s, Errol’s, etc. Right now you can literally gear yourself with named exotics that have a different look than crafted exotics, and also have runes already in them, for very very cheap. Same with weapons, any named exotic really. What this means for you? Well this is the best time to buy gear for your alt. What this means for people who want to make gold? Well these items that now flooded the market with high supply, will not by any means stay as high in supply at all after the event. Infact the supply will be nearly cut off except by the old means of getting them. And people will still be buying them well into the future. People baught them by the boatload when there were 5g-20g, and they will for sure still buy them. So this goes to show you, you can invest right now and make alot of money. Theres no way anyone can tell me that these named exotics, with runes, and unique stats, will stay cheaper than crafted exotics. Even with the fractal dungeon, that will not keep supply this high. So Buy, and Buy alot, and sit.

Heres another thing: Superior Sigils and Runes have also plummeted.. why you may ask? Because people are getting these exotic items, and using black lion kits on them to get the rune/sigil out, which is possibly worth alot. The supply of these are also not going to be this high for long, and they will go up certainly. Exotic weapons like Avirdnag have a superior sigil of bloodlust in them (yesterday was worth 3.5g-4g, now worth about 2.8g) but the item on the post has buy offers of 1.8g, and sell orders at 2.4g. Thats instant profit, because you get mats and an ecto as well for salvaging it, not just the sigil. Theres items like this, armors and weapons alike, all over the TP. Jatoro’s has superior rune of the scavenger for example, which will undoubtably go up as you cannot even craft that rune, just like the Divinity rune. The time to buy is now, make your money, it wont last long.
