All of the dragons have already awoken. But will we get to fight/battle against them is the question. Guess we will get some more hints on the 21st!
We don’t actually know that.
First of all we don’t even know if we even know about all the dragons.
Secondly we have no idea if Mordremoth is actually awake or if it will happen during the game (personally I think that the whole Scarlet-arc ties into the awaking of M, but we will see).
Actually yes we do know that. Jormag’s awakening made the far shiverpeaks unlivable causing the norn to move south to their new homeland. Kralkatorrik’s awakening caused the crystal scar near the crystal desert. Primordus’s awakening caused the asura to move out from their homeland underground, and construct a new homeland. The “deep sea dragon” is another other dragon mentioned in the game. The jungle dragon is most likely awake (has also been speculated that he is the second pale tree mentioned). As for the name Mordremoth, the only mention is if you look at your combat log during Subject Alpha’s attacks. Also you cannot derive from the game atm that his name is Mordremoth.

Your solution to lack of exciting new content. Is to make the tired old content slightly more rewarding….
This solution helps to give players a reason to visit old areas, and gets rid of the problem of thinning out the population on a server. If that is fixed, then Anet has no reason not to add new areas, right? So basically the idea is that there shouldn’t be any reason for Anet not to add more areas.

How do you handle people deliberately not starting events, or hanging back doing nothing but staring at them until time’s gone by? I might have missed something, but this sounds like it rewards you more for avoiding events for a while and gets you angry at someone that goes in to do an event before it’s “ripe.”
Disclosure: I’m on Tarnished Coast where most any event I can find gets people doing it very quickly. They don’t seem to last long enough to need what you are suggesting.
Well considering the reward caps at 30 or 60 mins (30 mins probably), It’s really not that bad. Do you think people will wait 30 minutes for one single event? I am also on Tarnished Coast, so I know exactly what you mean. But think about a GW2 that has 10 new areas in addition to the existing areas. This solution gives Anet more reason to add new areas, and gives players more reason to visit old areas. Win, win!

Thanks for the support! If there is any discussion that needs to be had on the subject of adding new areas, add that in too!
Arguing With Authority
I need to be blunt to you. Anet doesn’t create content for EXTREME casuals like yourself. If you dislike that, this MMO isn’t for you.
I need to be blunt with you and everyone else who falsely labels players who dislike temporary content as “extreme casuals”, then blithely repeats this tired fallacy as if you and they speak for ArenaNet: You’re wrong.
Says who? Says Game Director Colin Johanson:
I wanted to take a moment and address this, it’s a totally fair question and something as a player (removing my GD hat) I’d wonder the same thing as well. As I covered in my blog post last month, a major focus of our living world releases in the second half of the year will be on focusing our living world releases on content that has a larger sense of persistence, and more permanent effect on the world.
And just in case that’s not clear enough, he goes on to say:
We’re also looking into options that would allow players to experience the story sequences that will go away as the story moves forward for those who missed them, but this is still a ways off as we look at various options.
There’s the long-term plan. Compare and contrast to “this MMO isn’t for you.”
And while you’re at it, ask yourself if you honestly think “this MMO isn’t for you” is something ArenaNet would ever say. I strongly recommend reading Colin’s entire post (and that entire thread) if why you’re wrong isn’t crystal clear at this point, because it’s important.
I’m sure it’s tempting to try to lend your opinions some weight by presenting them as official ArenaNet policy, but in doing so you are actually positioning yourself against ArenaNet’s stated interests and gutting your own credibility in the process.
You are not ArenaNet.
The Quest For Misunderstanding Continues……….
First off, I am not labeling EVERYONE who dislikes temporary content, I am labeling this specific OP who can’t play the living story during the time it is available. Also if you read further down my post, I mention exactly the same thing that you point out, that Anet are looking into a Recap of missed Living story releases, and that he would just be missing out on the achievements/bonuses. Read my entire reply before you decide to comment on it, thanks (It’s ironic that you would talk about misunderstanding, lol). Also your first Colin Johanson quote is out of context with the date of this post because Anet has already extended the time of the Living World to four weeks (instead of two) + done everything mentioned in that specific quote (aka Kessex Hills).
Also I am not speaking for Anet, Just like you aren’t speaking for every player. I’m looking at it from a business perspective + how Anet has done their releases so far. The reason I suggested single player games, is because single player games do not, generally, have a LIVING WORLD, and do have plenty of permanent content.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this, and have finally come up with a solution!
The Problem:
Currently in the Living Story, we have had one new area added (Southsun Cove). As Anet has stated multiple times, they are wary about adding any new areas/zones to the game because it leads to the splitting/thinning of the player base, and ultimately the demise of the game.
The Solution:
What if Anet buffs events to make old zones worthwhile to visit? What if for every 1 minute an event stays active, the reward goes up by 1% (for karma and experience) and 1 silver (hardcapped at 30 or 60 minutes). Of course the 1 silver would need to be down-scaled if the player is below level 80. Then if an event stays up for 20 minutes or more they add a “loot bag” (not champion box) if the event is successfully finished (rare quality if the player is level 60+, masterwork quality if the player is level 30+, and fine quality for under level 30). Also there would need to be an indicator if an event has been up for over 20 minutes (UI related something like “Additional reward active/available”) “But wait?” You say, “What about event chains? Doesn’t this mean that people will purposefully fail events again?” Well fear not! What if every successful event after the first event (aka only for event chains) rewarded the player double the rewards of the FIRST event in the chain (Only if the FIRST event succeeded) with the exception of the “loot bag” (Only one loot bag).
This would give new activities to smaller guilds and zergs and open up new farming spots in every area of the game! So what do you all think? Is this a good idea? Will this compensate the Living Story adding new areas?

While I agree that Anet should focus on the quality of the content for their Living Story releases (also keep in mind that the LS is treading on new ground in a F2P MMO, give it room to breathe), I need to be blunt to you. Anet doesn’t create content for EXTREME casuals like yourself. If you dislike that, this MMO isn’t for you. There are plenty of single player games out there for those type of 2-3 hr a week type people. Otherwise if you want to continue playing this game, you have to be content with the leftovers (aka fractals/TA and any other recap form that may be implemented). But I do want to leave you with a glimmer of hope. Anet has stated that they are looking into a way to be able to implement some form (possibly story only) of recap for each Living story release. So even if you can’t obtain the special titles or achievement metas (really all you are missing anyway), you can still be up to date on what is going on with the story.
To be honest, my personal opinion is that the LS is progressing way too slowly (we are half a year from when the first piece of LS came out and still don’t know Scarlet’s Motive). The reason people are leaving the game, is because of the quality of these releases, not because of the length. Each release lasts for four weeks, which is plenty of time for the average GW2 player to complete all they want to complete (the whole meta, or just the story). I think that GW2 does something fresh and new from other MMO’s that I’ve played, and has the potential to do awesome things with the LS. So once again, most every GW2 player is unhappy with the quality of each release (story-wise), not the length of time in between each release.
Also I want you to consider me as a casual gamer. I go to college and have 2 part-time jobs, yet I still have plenty of time to run fractals here and there, complete every meta of the LS (besides WvW because that would have taken way too long), and hang with my guildies from time to time. So get out there and do your LS achievements! Or find some single player game that works for you.

Also if you take a look at the map in Brisban Wildlands, there are two “map portals” that (eventually will) lead to other places in the maguuma jungle. The existence of these further hint that Anet had planned to put those areas in when GW2 was released.

Well at least there is someone else out there that has read the short story Anet released. I agree she is an amazing villain! Most of those who don’t are just uninformed (which tbh is the fault of Anet because of how they keep these stories in a separate place from the actual game). Thanks for the rehash for all the people out there that want to say “Scarlet is the Joker……hahaha hurp hurp.” Although I don’t think that this part of the living story has anything to do with scarlet (besides the glow in the obelisk that suggests something like asuran tech is holdin it together), I think its going to be a great story!

I’ve been playing since release, and it’s been a great time (Although I missed a few living story updates because of school).
Firstly, Anet has stated multiple times (including last halloween) that the skins and stuff won’t be coming back. If Anet wants to release it, it will be available through black lion claim tickets (probably 7 tickets like the molten alliance skins). If you are quitting because of that….Lol.
Secondly I remember last Halloween being a huge grind (carving like 250 pumpkins, eating over 1000 candy corn) to get the achievements, while this Halloween requires probably 2 hours of play to get the first part of the achievements over and done with. Also if you don’t like the grind to make the weapon, why not just buy it from the TP?
Thirdly, they have updated the rewards. Mad Kings clock tower gives an exotic and you choose the type/stats (Last year it gave you an exotic that had fixed stats). Do any of you remember competing against the charr and norn in the jumping puzzle? Well that is fixed now too. In the labyrinth they made the bosses drop champion bags (last year you only got a daily chest). The dungeon and story are completely different from last year (guessing on the dungeon, which is the conclusion to the story). Plus now this year we get completely new skins for our weapons (Rubber sword…..lolz!).
Fourth, why would it make sense for the old story to return? Last year the Mad King hadn’t shown up in over 250 yrs, and no one was sure if he would return. This year is a progression of that story (although I would like a summary of last year’s story so new players can get caught up). So no it doesn’t make sense to give players the rewards that happened with last year’s story.
I really don’t see any basis for complaint here on anything presented so far.
Also on a side note…..go check out the lake in Kessex Hills. More teasers Anet!

EDIT: Just thought of something else, what if you added a living story button/option/whatever to the UI where the personal story is located? That way you can recap, and add to the story after it happens in real world
That’s been requested many times, so far I think they are trying to work on something like that but apparently putting it to the UI isn’t easy.
Ok, don’t really read the forums all that much, except when Anet responds. Nice to know this is being worked on
We need a Walter White/Heisenberg villain.
Well if Walter White saw the Eternal Alchemy/fabric of the universe…..He might be as crazy as Scarlet.
You have to take in to account that the living story is something brand new, not done in any other MMO. So everyone just take a deep breath, realize that Anet is still learning and improving, and base your constructive feedback around that. Look at how much the living story has changed, and improved since the days of the molten alliance. The living story is lacking in a couple things sure, but the story itself rocks! By the way, do any of you actually read the short stories Anet has released in tandem with each piece of living story content? Before I critique a story or piece of content, I would want to make sure that I actually am informed to know what is going on in the story (the obvious response to this is to make it available in game as well, and maybe Anet is working on that, but nevertheless, the story is still there). Ok enough of my rant, now to critique…
1. We need a way to track where we are in the story. My suggestion is to possibly number the pieces of content as Chapters/Seasons, much like a TV show or book/comic book with continuous content. This would also create a bunch of hype and possibly bring in more people too, because everyone will know “Ok this is a continuation in the story.”
2. Add in more permanent content. I know this has been stated a billion times, and you guys are moving in the right direction with the new TA path, so props to you guys so far.
3. After a Chapter/Season is done, add a movie/story/book/something that sums up the content so far, so people aren’t left in the dark. I know most people have no idea who scarlet is really (as shown in one of the short stories), which is why you get all of these comments like “oh shes just like the joker.” So make that content more accessible so everyone knows what’s going on.
That’s really all I have so far. I love the story, so keep it up!

@ Josh, Hey! I checked out your devianart, and I noticed…….AHHHH he likes Demon Hunter too! Anyway that was a sidenote… I just wanted to comment on you professionally and I just want to say, great work! I have never seen this level of continued communication with players in other games. Although I have not personally played W2 yet (Missed W1 and playing through that first), I want to thank you for responding to all of these complaints quickly and really caring what the players think (positive or negative). Keep it up! Also any feedback I may have after playing through W2 tonight, I’ll let you know, without insulting you personally. Because I know that you care about this game just as much as we do! So….. thanks!
