Uninspired Gem store, aka WTH??

Let me expand on the title of this topic,

I enjoy GW2 and after 3 months having lived through some ups and downs with the compagny I was finally ready to spend some Gems.

Sure I had looked at the Gem-store before buying my Gem cards but I did not feel I had the “right” to comment on its content because I did not sponsor any of its products.

After buying 1 extra inventory space and expanding my bank space I came to the conclusion that nothing but absolutly nothing else in the store interests me.

I mean, I’m a player who likes to play dress up doll, a big part of playing MMO’s for me is finding ways to make my character visually stand out from the crowd. Be that by colours, aura’s or armours. Gained through normal gameplay or the occasional cash shop purchase.

I own 2 copies of GW2 so I have all the character slots I could ever want.

The impression I am getting and this is not intended as an insult or an attack towards Anet. That the person that came in to “monetise” the game, aka the ex-maplestory girl has no clue as to what drives the GW2 community.

At this point, I am left wondering if 1-She understands that we want to spend Gems in the game we love and 2- we are too intelligent to get cought up in buying boosters and random lottery junk.

The BLT salvage kit is already crossing a line I feel should not be crossed in a buy to play game. Worth noting my main character is an engineer and I’m sick and tired of looking like a friggin Pirate. Brown bags and stupid hats are not the type of things that says, Look at me I’m an Azuran mad scientist. Disregarding some cultural armour or some pieces of dungeon armour. Brown bags and skirts are getting extremely tiresome and its the thing that will likely cause me to play GW2 less over time.

tldr; Anet please make more non town clothes styles so I can give you my money!

So if I get this right,

If I’m just a lowly level 31 with not enough time to live in Tyria 24/7 the halloween event is not really of any interest to me?

Unless I buy gems?

What a change from GW1 where events were fun and not only for no-lifers.
Wasn’t the whole anti-grind set up part of GW2’s appeal?

Gee, I guess I can always wait for next years halloween hmm? :/

for some reason, i can't start my gw2 game after the patch, help plz,

The same is happening to me as well.

Though I’m not getting any error message. I launch the program it blinks then it disappears.

Great game Anet, but everything from hacked accounts to simple technical issues is starting to wear my patience thin.

I never got banned, got banned 2 weeks for bad language.

Bans for unthinkable things? What unthinkable things are you referring to?

Seriously?

You and I both know that some people here and on other fora are getting banned/suspended for what is concidered mild behaviour within the gaming community.

There is no need to go into specifics as I was talking to Arenanet not you.
And I do say this in a very pollite manner.

I honestly don’t understand how a game that has a chat filter (one you can disable yea) has such a aggresive behaviour policy.

Look I didn’t get banned, nor did I ever have any problems with GM’s or people in similar positions, though reading through this chat I have 0, zero, nill confidence in the ability of Anet to reasonable deal with a MMO community.

No, what we had in GW1 was not and I repeat NOT an MMO community.
I’m going to agree with many people around here and say that eventhough GW2 as a game is supreme, but the community handling is not going well.

Twitter, reddit, facebook, bans for unthinkable things in MMo terms, these things do not bode well. And I say this as a big fan of GW2.

Thank you for your time.

edit: My wife just makes a very good point. Its against the “rules” to chat in a foreign language on an english designated server. Why o Why don’t those people get the hammer hmm?
