even as a support, you should be able to dish out some damage to help clearing packs faster. that’s true for any gw2 class.
ele support tend to use staff as it allows you to stay out of the melee pretty easily given the skills have high range.
staff also brings a lot of combo fields, which your group may use as they wish with their finishers.
that said, a good ele support imo should switch attunements pretty often, which can only be done by speccing very deep into the arcane line (ie putting all 30pts usually).
also, speccing into cleansing wave (water trait #5) is probably a must as you’ll help removing conditions everytime you switch to water. since you’ll be probably speccing into water anyways, that should be no problem to take it.
with all that said, i’ll repeat one last thing again : even when playing as “support”, you should help as much as you can in dps, since there is nothing like a dedicated healer in gw2.
staff is nice when you want/need to stay too far from the fight.
far from necessary, but at least you can’t really do wrong with the staff but the lack of mobility in combat (swiftness in combat makes too little of a difference in terms of run speed) can be a bother for some fights imo.
still wonder why people think weapon switching would be OP.
if they keep track of attunements CDs on weapon switch (or even reset them on weapon switch idc), i don’t see anything close to OP happening ever.
add in some higher CD on weapon switch than normal (like say 60s in combat but no CD out of combat) and we’re good to go.
All of my what.
Seriously, you can switch between 2 dps attunements, a supportive attunement and a defensive attunement. What do you want? 8 weapon swaps instead of 4?
2 dps attunements? only see one.
if anything, air is a joke in terms of dps and is more utility oriented even though it should be the single target dps go-to attunement.
Well, most people use Arcana trait VI
I suggest learning the class before posting in their forum. Thanks.
most people feel forced to use it because perma vigor (if can land enough crits that is) is one of the few reliable ways left for eles to improve their defense and compensate their innate squishyness.
never used them once after seeing how little i could do with them.
laughable damage, low utility, limited charges, high cooldows… yup, unless you’re looking to troll someone, not a single reason to bring them. only exception being the fiery GS but even then, it’s pretty situationnal and is not as versatile as, say, the elemental.
well in the end, the sender is indeed a diff person and my acc name was merely used as the message title.
have to admit i didn’t pay much attention to anything else after i saw my acc name had been used.
just noticed my alt received a message… from my own account, which of course i didn’t send.
checked my connections history and it doesn’t seem anyone logged in using my account as otherwise, i’d have received an email alert as it usually happens on ip change.
still trying to get how did they manage to do that…
just “ended” a FotM dungeon run where we got kicked back to LA while fighting our last boss from 3rd fractal.
kinda… frustrating to say the least, not to mention no one knows where did that come from.
in a word : nothing from what i can tell. i’ve been sticking to S/D for a while now and i switch to D/D when i need to land more AoE while being mobile.
TP : making "My transactions" button actually show my transactions?

right now, if you check on your transactions and click on an item, it brings you to the item TP “page” while you’re still considered as being in the “my transactions” tab.
because of that, we’re forced into opening a TP page before clicking back on “my transactions” to get back to this tab which is pretty much annoying at some point.
is there any plan to fix (i assume it’s a minor glitch?) that in some upcoming patch?
elementalist “complex” gameplay is so overrated imo.
just because they have more weapon abilities doesn’t make it that much harder past the “learning cap”.
also, it’s not like anet wouldn’t have ways to limit weapon switching by say, putting every attunement on cooldown when switching weapons or giving it a huge cd (60+s in combat would already be plenty long enough if you ask me), etc.
i’d highly welcome it any day.
all in all, staff is pretty superior to scepter/dagger for support
1-splash heal in melee of target
2-aoe vulnerability (would be nice to lower its cd though)
3-healing aoe you can also use for combos (have to do it fast though)
4-snare aoe which is always good to kite minions
5-aoe regen with a long duration which is nice for combos
if you got yourself a +healing set, you’d benefit more from it with a staff than a scepter imo… for now.
i like dungeons being “hard” (story is pretty easy most of the time imo), and i’m more thinking some should be harder, some bosses are just too easy as they are when preceding trash packs could send me back to graveyard in seconds if i didn’t pay enough attention.
as for rewards, it probably wouldn’t be bad to have more rares drops.
didn’t do explorable yet though.

don’t remember seeing her after i saved her.
same goes for the other characters who played a small part in the early personal story.
underwater skills aren’t really attractive atm, either lacking damage or/and utility.
what’s nice is that there is a cc on 4 for every attunement though.
but what i hate most is being limited to only tridents, which is just so boring.
pretty much sticking with elemental atm, and sometimes switching to greatsword for dungeons. most are indeed barely decent to deserve being called elite
not like we have that much of a choice anyway. hopefully, more will come with future updates and xpacs.
tornado elite skill: unresponsive, unreliable, and buggy

didn’t even bother unlocking it in PvE…
it seems it has been nerfed so hard since the first betas (didn’t try it in BWE so i can’t say wether the QQ was justified) that it’s just a useless elite skill atm.
also, you don’t get any speed boost or protection boon for its duration. no really, useless skill.
