Take a look at the attachment and the flower specifically.
It’s like a rose! (rosa rubiginosa) No, it’s like an azalea. Or maybe it’s a modiola caroliniana or chaenomeles speciosa.
Using my google-foo, I kept digging till I found the genus: Hellebores. (see attachment #2) Hellebores come in many different shapes and colors, but generally they match what I see in the Female Human Exclusive #3: 5 petals, tapering out with several stamens. “Real neato.” you might say, but looking even further, I’m seeing folklore evidences that witches long ago used them in the process of demon summoning.
That’s an apropos flower to use in the lore. (I say lore, but it’s not significant to the story.) It looks like the flower was mentioned in Harry Potter, also. As much research I’ve done on this folklore usage, I’m not really seeing any solid citations. Wikipedia, flower aficionado blogs and demonology sites all seem to posit this, but it just seems like conjoined assumptions without more historical proof that this was part of our past’s folklore. If anyone has more info on this, let us know!
Proof aside, there’s a common acceptance of demon-summoning with Hellebores nowadays so I suppose that’s quite well enough to make subtle references like here in GW2. Oh but take a closer look at the flower in-game again: It’s a reversed pentagram. (well duh, it has 5 petals.) But, no really, its rotated to point down. Reversed pentagrams were used in many cultures, even before “Black Magic” and was still considered to be a sacred symbol, for a myriad of reasons. Well whether this is significant to references of occultism, I’ll leave that up to you, but I’d like to think the character designers at Arena Net didn’t slap this together for nothing.
Or maybe they just wanted a star-fish, mermaid look. You tell me.

Arena Net, you’re doing great on support. I know there are bigger things than minipets and DD consumables. I’m glad this thread is here in the first place so we can post to let you know we’re here. I’m patient for the items if that ends up being what happens. I don’t mind it taking longer.
Hey guys, if you’re getting auto-gen support responses, it’s okay. I’ve worked in MMO support before so expect things to get prioritized. Anet’s is actually doing pretty well considering their volume. I had a ticket on this. I got a ’we’ll get this as soon as we can when a fix is made’ and then it perma-closed. Two weeks afterward, I made a new ticket to make the issue active again, but got an auto response on that too. I don’t want to spam their support, but at least from the guidelines they set, it would be good to have a ticket open (updated) if the issue hasn’t been resolved. Worst thing is to make multiple tickets or constantly updating one. It likely puts you in the back of the line.

Yeah the same thing happened to me about 20 minutes ago, made a thread about it cus I didn’t see this one hehe – skipped from The Trap to Suspicious Activity :| I thought seeing it go from 28 – 48 was a bit weird

I have a difficult time siding with a chargeback on this one. (Even beyond an argument to separate moral vs legal obligations by all parties) People only trade currency for a product/service if they believe from their perspective that their purchase is worth more to them than the money they spent. Savious (and perhaps others) seems to feel the value expected prior and the current value perceived might be significantly less in value enough to rescind the purchase with their financial institution. Is it a right of the customer? No, it is a privilege, but definitely an option for them to partake just like making their purchase in the first place.
Don’t take this all for granted. Receiving “Support” is a great privilege and ArenaNet is actually mitigating things well from my perspective. (Keep up the good work!)
Do customers always get what they expect? Almost never. I’m sorry Savious if this is difficult to go through, but I believe from my experience with Anet and other gaming companies that this one will work out if you haven’t heard direct word yet. I want this experience for you to change your view on expectations regardless of the information given to you and maybe by the end of this you may feel things were worth waiting for instead of ‘gametime stolen’ from you.
