Most rangers have been asking for pet changes or some sort of work with the class mechanic. We did not get much of that. Instead we got what we usually get. Longbow buffs and more marksmanship stuff. I am tired of longbow stuff and things in marksmanship. It is like they are trying to buff ranger to the point where longbow is the only thing we will be good at. I am glad we got positive changes don’t get me wrong but I can’t say Casey is wrong to not get excited by the shiny distractions they throw at us. Pets (class mechanic) still needs work and is still broken. Fix my pets…. heck I will settle for just one fix… the pig family f2 and then I will join the ranger parade and dance in celebration with everyone else.
The rangers that influenced me the most were Battosai,Xsorus and Vyndetta. None of them really play much any more. Kinda wished Batto was still around. He was one of the most knowledgeable ranger in the game and like JcBroe said he did some things with ranger I never knew was possible. He showed me that there was more depth to the class and inspired me to do more and learn more with the class.
Since we are having so much problems with pets tracking moving targets for auto attacks, why not just remove auto attacks from pets and make them immune to damage. Just have them follow the ranger and be more of a utility source rather than a major damage source. This way it will give the ranger access to 6 extra utilities (f1 -f3 on two pets) or 8 (f1-f4 on two pets).
This way we don’t have to worry about losing our class mechanic when the pet gets wrecked in one hit in wvw/boss fights and you can also increase the ranger’s personal damage ratios without having to worry about the extra auto dps coming from the pets.
