Currently, in order to see buffs/conditions, or number of stacks of Master’s Bond trait on your pet you must target it (unless I am missing something?).
What I would really prefer to see instead, is a bit richer pet UI that could be moved, similar to that of the party UI where you can see the player’s name, avatar, hp bar (we already have this but its location above the skills bar is not the best) plus their current status with buffs and conditions. Afterall, being a ranger is like being in a party with your pet constantly. I believe that would really help us monitor our pet’s status.
Is it just me or did Blasting Staff change a little with the last patch? It appears to me that some attacks like Lava Font have a larger radius than before. Just my misperception?
It was fun even though I was expecting a greater variety to the event. But as the OP said the dolls part was quite neat. The only disappointment for me was the chest at the end, only got one large gift box and some socks without other items, as though i still had DR on me :/
Oh the new change that Jon mentioned seems very nice and a buff indeed. Being able to switch attunements within mist form will add some interesting utility to it, glad to hear it
I feel exactly the same way, guess it would be fair for someone from the staff to specify what has been changed, in order to avoid suspicions.
So there was a new game build about half an hour ago (exactly 3 seconds before we finished off Claw of Jormag on Vizu Square;). The download patch was rather small, and there is no patch notes here in the forums. Any changes noticed? Or was it just some minor tweaks?
There are two more sets of runes that work well with all aura builds:
Superior Runes of the Fire give you 165 power, +20% might duration, and also grant you Fire Aura for 5 seconds on 90 sec cooldown when your health falls below 80% – and that’s with all the associated boons from Zephyr’s Boon and Elemental Shielding.
Better yet, Superior Runes of the Earth give you 165 toughness, +20% protection duration (works great if you have those 10pts in Earth trait for Elemental Shielding), and also grant you Magnetic Aura for 5 seconds on 90 sec cooldown when your health falls below 20%. Again, you get all the boons, and become immune to projectile attacks for 5 seconds. This set is great both for staff (two sources of the awesome magnetic aura, never get enough of it) and I believe even more so for d/d builds, as they normally don’t have access to magnetic aura. 20% of health is a bit low, but this can be a real life saver at times.
The only downside is that currently acquired through runes are not transferred to allies with powerful auras.
That is not exactly what I meant. I know that combo fields still grant effects, nothing changed here. Using a Leap Finisher in a fire field still gives me the aura, but it no longer grants boons (protection, fury, swiftness) that I traited for in what is knows as an auramanced build.
Has anyone noticed this one? Some of the auras acquired through combo fields no longer apply protection/fury/swiftness from Earth’s Elemental Shielding and Air’s Zephyr’s Boon. I mean fire aura acquired by leap-finishing through a fire field. Fire Aura is applied, but the boons are no longer there.
What is more interesting, frost aura (acquired by blast finishing staff’’s ice field) still grants those boons to me and more importantly to allies even WITHOUT Powerful Auras trait. This one obviously is bugged and supposedly will be working just like the fire aura mentioned above.
I used to run a fun hybrid staff-support build centered around the late Evasive Arcana, with Powerful Aura water trait to apply auras with protection. It seems that now none of the two parts of my prevoius build are viable.
Also, there is no mention of any aura changes in the patch, so what’s up?
There seems to be an anoying bug here on the official forums. For some reason, the posts made by the development team are invisible to regular players. This bug is most prominent in classes section of the forums. Please fix, thank you.
@XodoK
Updated Rune of Water to provide 10% boon duration instead of 15% in PvP.
Updated Rune of the Monk to provide 10% boon duration instead of 15% in PvP.
Updated Rune of Earth to provide 15% protection duration instead of 20%, and 3 seconds of protection instead of 4 seconds in PvP.
That’s probably it, but thankfully it is only limited to PvP
“I have to agree, I would like to know what the developers vision for this class is. After trying to be effective with DPS builds I came to the conclusion that it is intended we are more for a support class. Now that our ability to support got taken down a few notches…what do we have left?”
This is exactly how I feel as well. Every useful build that emerges is completely destroyed soon after. I personally feel forced to switch not only builds, but also roles (from support to… what now?).
Kwikleh now, lets come up with another one for devs to nerf! It’s not going to be as easy though, not many options for us left…

well that makes staff support ele pretty much redundant now… it’s interesting as I used to play d/d and only recently fell in love with the staff, now I’ll need to return to daggers, which would be cool if I didn’t feel forced to…
