Bring Back the Desert Borderland!

I think it’d be good to read the update notes for today’s build.

A lot has been adjusted and amended, as you can see:

  • The Alpine borderlands map has been rotated back into play.
  • Updated map content to be consistent with existing WvW maps.
    • Sentries now detect and mark enemy players on the map.
    • Original resource nodes have been removed. Resource synthesizer nodes now exist inside objectives.
    • Objectives now have capture-point decals.
    • Objective lords now have health scaling.
    • Objectives now upgrade based on dolyak caravan deliveries.
    • Objectives now support the updated guild-claiming and guild-objective upgrades systems.
    • Disabled Commander Siegerazer’s breakout events.
    • Cultural armor vendors have been added at the team citadel areas.
    • Dolyak caravans now jog rather than walk.
    • Dolyak caravans now gain the Protected Caravan effect when allied players are nearby.
    • Players can no longer rally by killing basic creatures.
    • Halved the number of ambient creatures (deer, drakes, wolves, etc.).

Frankly just the idea of jogging dolyaks makes it all worthwhile to me.

But seriously, give it a try before making a judgment, ok? The WvW Team is actively reading your feedback, but that feedback is always best when based on solid experience with the current map.

While I appreciate the WvW Team working on this, I think that rotating the old Alpine maps back into play isn’t the best thing. Why?
1. They are now too small, especially with the server mergers
2. Server mergers were just completed and the DBL was finally becoming populated.
3. New reward system brought players into the DBL. More time should have been given for those players to adjust to the new maps.
4. Fire Keep was awesome and is now a missed element on the old Alpine maps.

I wasn’t a fan of WvW before, but with the release of the DBL I found myself playing more WvW then I had in the past. Yes, the map is huge. (Which serves more populated servers well.) After playing the DBL’s for months now, the Alpine BL seems boring, small and crowded. If you won’t bring back the DBL, at least introduce elements like the Fire Keep & Air Keeps into a better Alpine map.

Guild Mission Bugs

Honestly, I think the issues with Guild Missions should be fixed ASAP since they are available now!
While we all are looking forward to raids, since they aren’t available at this moment I don’t feel like I am missing anything. It is very disheartening to complete a puzzle or race and not get a thing for doing so!

This would help a lot. I worry that raids, being a more external newsworthy item, may be taking more focus than they deserve right now.

I can also guarantee that if, on day one, raids have the same loot issues were seeing in guild missions right now, the devs will be all over it. The bugs with guild missions should get the same level of attention (more given they are a more immediate need right now).

Hint Completion - Full Mailbox

To complete the “Hint Completion” acheivement I need the “Mailbox is Full” message to pop up. My mailbox is showing 10/10 in it, but I am still showing that I need the “Mailbox is Full” message under social to come up.
Do I need to delete a message so a new one can come in? Or will the system tell me the mailbox is full and I need to delete old mail to receive new?

Why not join a struggling server?

I honestly feel for your server as well as HoD. You guys who were there from the start, who tasted t1 victory, all basically got destroyed because the biggest guild/alliances disbanded like titan alliance or etc. I can’t exactly know how you feel, but kaineg was similar in a way, without victories of course, they started with no players in wvw, to a community with players, who want to better it now. Because of the way that the ranking system is set up, it’s extremely long to even fall out of one tier, even when getting stomped so hard it’s not funny.

I know the pain first hand…I wanted to get my main toon to 80 before jumping into WvW. As soon as I got that toon to 80. Titan disbanded and most left HoD server. It is even affecting PvE play too, since it seems there aren’t enough players to take any of the Cathedrals.
I think their needs to be a better ranking system and maybe close servers to transfers for a time if they are dominating WvW. There needs to be an even distribution across the servers to make for a better match. Its just so frustrating when you can’t take back anything without getting crushed in 5 minutes. I don’t enjoy spending all my time and silver on repairs in WvW. So, if any of you really want a challenge HoD could use some help right about now.
