Hello.

First of all I’d like to thank Anet for a good job on the game. A mmorpg in a long time that makes me want to adventure and where I’m still having fun after the “free month” has gone :)

This is my personal list of suggestions that has been popping up in my mind lately when I have been playing, they are the suggestions that comes from the top of the suggestions pile in my head and something which I constantly wish that would be in the game when I play.

Here goes:

Toggle AoE abilities into TAoE abilities (target based AoE) - A toggle option that you can turn on/off just like fast cast, that would make the ground targetet skills to behave like targeted abilities. No need to change anything on the skills them self, just make the skill be cast on center of the current target when the skill is being used if this toggle would be on.

Before someone claims it’s OP, actually it would be a conscious self nerf. Example, if I would use grenade kit on Engineer, and used this targetting method, I would throw the grenades in middle of the target, so when the target moves it would be already left the zone where the grenades falls, and I would do no damage untill it was so close that the flight time would beat the movement time of the target now.

This would simply be a quality of life option for those who simply like to open combat with AoE spells, it would remove the constant need of manual targetting followed by activating the autoattack because AoE skills does not activate it. I find this a nuisance on Engineer with a couple of different weapons and kits and also on Necromancer where I like to open combat often with AoE skill.

The current targetting is not hard, that’s not the reason, it’s actually more efficient since you want to “think ahead” when dropping AoE in combat, it’s simply to remove tedious elements of the combat if you feel like it mainly PvE in mind for opening combat and for static fights.

Ghost cursor/reticule when holding down the right MB - checkbox option like the fast cast option in the menu. This would be a much needed option for the current fastcast AoE targetting system mainly PvP in mind. Currently when I move my char with right MB held down, the cursor dissapears and it’s hard to target with fast cast AoE spells.

Open extra hotbar - UI element that I could toggle on and choose how many slots it has, for food, potions, emotes, etc.

Toggleable guild names - Let people toggle on/off the full guild names that would appear beneath the player names instead the little tag. The community lacks a big chunk of identity when people run around with just the little tags after their name that does not say much!

Option to save guild pane window into different tabs besides the default one.

Option to toggle class symbol and level in friends panel.

Character name change consumable in gem shop – I’ve grown to dislike some of my character names and would like to be able to rename them. It’s my own fault and I’m more than glad to pay for the change :)

Engineer: Make the swap weapon button to toggle between the weapon set and last used kit - Currently you can drop your kit with the swap-button but then have to use separate key to go back to that kit.

Engineer: Remove self knockback from overcharged shot and rocket boots - The abilities are too risky and frustrating at the moment imo. You disable your self while using them, which is very annoying and un-called for in my opinion. Lower the damage if that’s what it takes. When I use rocket boots no matter if in PvP or PvE the enemy in either case seem usually to catch me up while I’m collecting my self from the ground.

Sure I get a stunbreaker but what’s the point with the leap when I’m stunned for so long in my destination that I get caught on anyway.

Engineer: Mortar. Do something about it - Seriously, grenade kit beats mortar at the moment pretty much overall. I cant think of a reason to use mortar over grenade kit at the moment, other than the ability 5 on large battles, and even then supply drop propably is better for elite slot anyway. It needs more range. It needs more bang. It needs more hitpoints. It’s supposed to be an elite skill and right now it’s really hard to find uses for it besides luls.

Maybe a complete rework? Turn it into a kit for more constant and reliable use perhaps?

Engineer: Separate Elixir X into Elixir T(ornado) and Elixir O(gre) - I dont know anyone who likes it currently because of the randomness. It’s not an appealing elite skill at all, when you expect to have something powerful and reliable like most of the elite skills in the game.

Mounts [Merged]

I’d like to see mounts. Not a huge speed boost, something simple just to be able to ride, riding is fun, and some professions can keep up swiftness up permanently already, not fair ;)

It’s a bit unimmersive and annoying tbh that I cant tame a creature for me to ride on. What magical power restricts me from doing that? There was a Priory quest where the quest NPC was talking about “Dagnar’s drake mount” and there was a ghost of it, it’s one of those lizard creatures rangers can have.

Running is so slow and waypoints are expensive, but that’s not even my main reason, I’d like to have mounts mostly because they are simply fun way of travel :) Also, I miss on events all the time since I’m not fast enough to get there. I actually miss on content because I’m too slow on feet. I’ve been able to do only few events on zones lately, though I’m not sure if mounts would help since I cant see the events unless I’m standing next to them.

The game is mighty fun already, but I personally wouldnt mind mounts at all, as long as they will stay ground based always. I wont lose my sleep though if I learn that mounts will never be a part of the game.

Remove dynamic level adjustment

I don’t care how adamant ANet and NCSoft are about this mechanic of the game, it’s absolutely horrid.

With Dynamic Level Adjustment, level numbers are completely arbitrary. What’s the point of leveling from 1 to 80 if I’m just going to be whatever level the zone is limited at? There’s no reward or advantage to being level 80 over level 50, and no advantage to being level 50 over being level 1. The only difference being what areas of the game we can enter.

What’s the difference? At lvl1 you dont have any utility/second bar skills, you dont have any traits, you dont get to enter any but newbie zones, and you look a lot worse compared to higher level, at least less epic. Oh and you dont have weapon sigils. Or gear runes. Or titles. Etc, you get the point…

This is one of the best features of the game. In other mmorpgs the rest of the world except end-game zones become USELESS after you level up. With level scaling you can enjoy the full world at lvl80 + have improved character Vs. the lowbies to show off :)

"Autoattack Isn't Fun" or "I Miss DPS Priority System"

What I noticed playing engineer, and then making a warrior alt that the classes can be very different on this front. On my engineer I use a ton of abilities even on critters and swap kits and there’s A LOT of things going on.

On my warrior however I find my self actually autoattacking a lot, I like one handed axe and shield. I use greatsword sometimes since I feel like using most of the skills in single fight, but with axe it’s really an autoattack-fest with few other abilities here and there. Somehow I felt like the signet way just felt the most practical for my warrior so that’s not helping either. I could say it’s partially my own fault, but then again, you can play very effectively a warrior with just right build and autoattack. Unlike engineer imo.

In my opinion: this game is simply not addictive

I dont see the point in endless geargrind loop. It’s just a feature designed to go hand in hand with subscription fee that makes you feel like you have to spend time in the game because you pay for every minute, and getting better gear gives you the illusion that you’re getting something for that money, when it’s just repetitive recycled content x-pac after x-pac.

I dont want to be in that loop. I dont see the point and it does not satisfy me, nor give me the illusion of progress since all it is really is the endless loop to keep you paying.

It’s crazy to see people hoping to get addicted, unable to find a way to have fun by any other means I’m not just saying, I have been waiting for a game like this for quite a while, and now there’s so many saying they need the geargrind.

I dont know what else to say, if this game would statistically fail somehow I’ll be shocked, not least because it would mean this genre just is not for me no matter how much I’d like it to be…

This one game.

Oh I do realize there’s problems on different areas of the game, it’s just that there’s quite a few people also who fail to separate a feature with a problem.

I’m enjoying a mmorpg in many years again, and I’ve tried almost all of the A-quality “clones” out there up till this day with varying but poor results, so Anet must have done some things right.

This one game.

We have this one game that is not loot/power hoarding centric entirely. One game with level scaling so that we can go back to all the zones and not feel like they are completely useless like in every other themepark mmorpg. One game where sPvP is on even playing field where you actually do the fighting instead of your gear.

We have finally something here that separates this game from the rest of the clones, bringin more variety into the genre, more to choose from. This game is not supposed to look like one of them. I love the mechanics in this game, and there’s no other mmorpg where I can enjoy the same.

Thank you ArenaNet for this pearl, and I believe that in due time many of the complainers will too come to realize that it’s only a good thing that they also have something different to go back to, in here.

GW2: my personal opinion.

Another person who bought a game he knew nothing about. Is it such an alien concept that GW2 is not a game based around loot rewards? If that’s what you’re looking for, then go back to WoW.

Then what is the point of Anet making an MMO? Since this game isnt based around loot rewards, why didnt they just save themselves the money on production and just make an arena based game? Your answer makes no sense. People play MMO’s for LOOT.

You think everyone want to play a game ONLY to collect better loot endlessly? No. We finally have ONE GAME that is not based around getting endlessly better loot, against all the loot hoarding games that favours no-life life style. One game. Is that so bad? There’s a TON of loot centric games for you to choose from.

You dont seem to fully realize the level scaling either. With the level scaling we avoid the problem of EVERY other themepark mmorpg: Most of the world becomes useless after you level past it. Now you can USE the whole world after getting to max level because it scales, it’s great!

Also, I LOVE the sPvP BECAUSE it’s an even playing field. No more do I have to feel worse player just because I dont have time and will to farm gear all day long every day. What’s the point of PvP anyway if your gear just does the work? Is it not nice to know that it was actually you who won that fight and not your epic gear?

Cant we have this one game where everything is not more of the same? Please.

Grenade skill #1 needs hard target

in Engineer

I love the grenade kit but I find my self rarely using it since it’s so tedious, requiring heavy extra spamming. There needs to be an option besides the current style to make the kit more available for wider engineer audience.

I think the skill #1 autoattack suggestion works well and does not even need a nerf for damage as long as the grenades will not be homing grenades. That way I dont think they’d be OP at all in PvP since you wont hit a moving target unless it’s close. If it needs to be nerfed, it could be made so that the AoE radius is smaller when toggling the autoattack on (still no homing grenades).

I’d love to use the grenade kit more, but dont want to buy a new mouse that is made of deldrimor steel just for the grenade spam
