I’ve had this problem since HoT came out, so October 2015 this first started happening. I’ve tried everything and the only thing that solves it for now is turning v-sync off, which has already been mentioned. I’ve been through customer support and nothing they told me to do helped. They say they know about and it does only happen to Nvidia users. They need to sort it out and prioritise this over the minor things.
No, seriously, we need this fixed asap.
It’s sometimes working, sometimes not and it’s being an intense pain to deal with.
Strangely long loading screens happen too, it’s quite surprising as i’m using ssd.
Win 10 64bit, 64bit client, r9 270x on board.
Tried reinstalling drivers, gw2 itself, even windows. I was messing with the settings and nothing was really able to fix it pernamently. That’s just insanely frustrating…
And ye, happens in gw2 only.
Wow! Mine only ever does that in-game and was never THAT bad. Yours is actually doing it on the character screen o.O
Turn v-sync off when you get in-game, it’ll stop it from happening. I know it’s not a fix, but you’ll be able to play and depending on what computer you have you may need to play in window fullscreen mode to stop the screen tearing so much. Some people also get fps issues from doing this :/
Bump! No fix or acknowledgement by anet thus far. Lets get something done this year please now. Problem is now getting on to two months old.
Expect it to get even older than that. This is arenanet we’re talking about after all. Unless you’re new you should know not to expect much in communication or timely bug fixes from them.
(i also see this problem btw, and contrary to what some people say, vsync has nothing to do with it and it being off changes nothing)

V-sync being turned off DOES “fix” it. If I turn it back on my game just won’t load and the textures are completely bugged.
Has anybody tried forcing v-sync via the Nvidia control panel rather than in-game to see if this works? I’ll give it a try now to see but was wondering if anyone had already tried.
Ye, I tried just now, doesn’t help at all.
Found something else that helps though… if you put the game in windows fullscreen mode and turn off vsync you don’t get any screen tear. I can now turn off compatibility mode and just run normal from Windows 10 and this works as a temporary fix.
Anet devs are we going to get a response on this? I posted about this a few weeks back and my thread got merged into another thread about crashing issues.
Also, the Reshade (Sweetfx) no longer works with GW2/Nvidia, the client will open, but will not load into game when Reshade is active in the GW2 folders. If you stop GW2 from using the Nvidia card and have it use the integrated graphics it loads fine and the Reshade works fine. Are you going to sort this out as well? I’ve used Sweetfx for the past 2 years with NO issues until recently.

I’ve had this EXACT same problem. I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M and I’m on Windows 10. I was emailing GW staff back and forth for DAYS the other week and they know about this problem, yet they have no idea how to fix it properly. A friend and I ended up managing to fix it by running the game in compatibility mode for windows 7, but this isn’t the solution.

I also get stuck in loading screens and only when i ctrl/alt/del to get out because I can’t alt/tab as it won’t work, does it bother to load and when it does the weird textures happen.

Just sent this to anet cos they’ve been emailing me back and forth all day telling me to try certain things and nothing worked or I’ve already tried it so we tried this… "Ok… just as a thought my friend right clicked the GW2 client>properties>compatibility and it was unticked so it was obviously defaulted to work with Windows 10. We checked Windows 7 instead and now it works fine, well the texture issue has gone, plus the hanging on loading screen.

To all of your saying get 64bit client, it doesn’t work for everyone, especially not me. It lags and runs like sh*t! Also, getting that client doesn’t solve the problem of the 32 bit client… why should we have to download something else to make the dam game work? They need to stop adding new content and fix all of these problems, it’s just ridiculous. I came back to this game for HoT, I’d been away from it for about 4/5 months, only for this to happen after a few weeks of owning the new expansion >.>
Also there is no 64-bit client for the Mac. It doesn’t sound like there ever will be one either, from previous dev posts.
I actually downloaded the 64-bit tonight cos I realised I needed to set my Nvidia card to run it in the control panel and that’s why it was lagging… either way it doesn’t help my loading screen problems or the texture effect bugs.
I also tried GTA V just now for half hour, laptop got warm, works perfectly fine >.> something is badly corrupted with GW2.

Brief description of what you’re seeing: severe packet loss (people blinking around, skills not activating, chat delay, etc), skill lag and random disconnections.
Stole this from some above cos it’s exactly what I keep getting. This happens mainly in WvW and big events ie Triple Wurm. It’s just getting ridiclous. This is the worst it’s been tonight and when it happens it lags out my whole internet for everyone else in the house too >.>
Really? I’ve never noticed that. It just said “bla bla requests a kick from party” and the tick and cross come up so I clicked the green tick and nothing happened. I clicked it a few times actually and the box didn’t disappear.
A guildie had gone offline and was in a party with me and some other guildies. My guild leader requested to kick him out of party and I clicked the tick and nothing happened, then later on my guild leader noticed I’d kicked him from the guild and I never… So clearly the kicking from party managed to kick him from the guild.
So if you’re a higher rank than others and have permission to kick people from the guild do not kick people from parties as this could happen to you as well.
