Our group had the same problem just now, we even tried adding a second mesmer, but for some reason about half the time the stacks were not removed and the shield did not break.
We didn’t have problems with this mechanic before, but we could not find out what was causing this today.
A few more of the somewhat human like options like the ones that are already selectable wouldn’t hurt I guess.
They should still be recognizably sylvari though.
Not just a human face painted green.
Would be great to have some interesting shield skills, the current ones are very boring.
I agree! The art concept is gorgeous.
Well at least one person agrees!
I thought some discussion about the visual design might have been interesting to have apart from the general feedback thread (which mostly covers the mechanical stuff), but maybe I should have just posted this there.
If we are ever gonig to get new playable races…. I would assume they will come in with an expansion.
The real question is….. what is anet doing with this Tengu nonsense…
They have been rumored to be ready since the game was first launched in 2012, but were cut from the final release….
Now would be the time…. if any…. to get a new race….. packaged in with HoT.
…but anet hasn’t said a word.
Anet said no new race this expansion.
New personal story chapters, voice acting for all existing (story, dungeons, skills etc.) and future content (times two for male/female), animations, racial skills, an equal amount of extra options in makeover kits, cultural armors (and adapting all existing armors), adding a home city, a starting zone etc.
Making a new race would require a ton of work. So much that I don’t expect a new race soon, or maybe ever.
For each race they added it would also take more work to add new armor sets, outfits, hairstyles and new voice work.
And in the end the question remains how many people would actually enjoy playing that new race for an extended period of time versus the number of people who would just try it out for a short while and then return to their main character(s) (or even just stick to their existing characters).
That concept art is from livin story season 2, its a young caithe. Caithe has that face (which is not available to us) and it is one fo the more human faces.
I didn’t actually realize that it was an image of Caithe until you told me.
Doesn’t look much like her as she is ingame I think.
But Caithe does still have a lot of features of the original sylvari design, I’d guess because she was one of the first (sylvari) characters they created.
It’s her younger self, the one we played in one of the chapters, hence why the hair is different, the face is the same tho, it’s jsut the artsy style that coutns for the difference
Also, i would LOVE caithe’s face or more similar, there’s nothing wrong with variety.
The shape of the face is wrong, the nose is completely different.
Hairstyle is different too.
In itself the art is okay, but the resemblance is just poor. It’s just concept art though.
Here is how the sylvari used to look by the way.
I’m glad they took the time to redesign them.

Personally I think that the Wings of Resolve visuals should be a darker shade of blue. At the moment it is white or at best a very very light blue.
I know it’s just a small cosmetic issue, but I think it would look better if the color was a bit more like it is in the concept art.
It would make it feel more like a guardian ability to me.
Anyone else have any other cosmetic changes they would like to see implemented?
That is probably old concept art from before the game was released, when sylvari still looked like green skinned elves with clothes made out of leaves. Google “sylvari redesign”to see some old screenshots.
IMO they looked terrible and silly, the current version is much better looking.
Much more interesting.
I have a soulbound All Seeing amulet equipped on a character, but the amulet did not unlock for my Treasure Hunter collection.
Trying to use right click to add it to the collection does not work either (it does not give the add to collection option).
I have had this amulet for a long time, before the Treasure Hunter collection was added.
Support advised me to submit a bug report, which I did.
I think a possible cause for the amulet not unlocking might be that the version I have was a drop from before magic find was removed as a stat from equipment.
All equipment with magic find as a stat was changed into account bound versions with selectable stats (September 2013 I think?).
If this is the case, is this a bug that someday might be fixed or do I just have to get a new amulet to unlock it in the collection?
You can still turn in Fortune Scraps at the Black Lion Weapons Specialist for account bound skins.
Use them to unlock skins like the windcatcher backpieces, if you haven’t already unlocked those.
They are very expensive if you have to buy them from the trading post.
