I was trying a similar build last night, having a blast!
One question, does sigil of doom work on OH weapons? I have it on my scepter and on the torh on the other weapon set, sometimes it seems to work and give me the little circle above my skills and sometimes not… unless it just does mothing when not in any form of combat?
But yeah nice build
I like to use the OH sword, it has a decent phantasm and a block/daze is always good. Only problem is the speed really so I use centaur runes and it doesn’t feel too bad.
Focus obviously is good for utility with the swiftness, cripple and pull but in roaming and 1v1 or small group i find the warden doesn’t really hit (though if it does manage to hit, it hits hard) so i tend to use the other OH weapons more.
It’s up to you, in my opinion they can all be used well..
Also a Sylvari Mesmer from Day 1
Running around in the Tier 2 Sylvari Cultural looking like a butterfly (and then exploding into more purple butterflies) whilst annoying people with stealths and clones is what it’s all about!
Hey, I run this at the moment as a kind of all around for everything really (except sPvP):
It’s not really optimal for anything but it serves me well in WvW, I can handle myself in 1v1 and small groups and get loads of bags in zergs.. Precision isn’t too great however and find myself not being able to dodge sometimes since the vigor on crits doesn’t happen as much, but overall I have pretty good success.
Decent burst and great in zergs – torch 4 for stealth, sword 3 into the zerg (doesnt break stealth) dodge, swap, blurred frenzy and mind wrack (prestige will burn during blurred frenzy too).. it’s not the best but enough to finish people off or take a decent chunk out of people not focused on defense
and good survivability with stealths and toughness.
I mainly use this because I like the adaptability (to go PvE i usually just switch a few traits and switch staff/torch for GS/focus). But then again it’s the first build I’ve properly geared myself up for and stuff so there’s definitely room for changes and improvements
Ah so 1 point of ‘Pet Attribute Bonus’ is worth 10 actual points towards the stats?
Ok cheers, I will stick with buffing the pet for a bit then and see how it goes
Hey, I’m pretty new to the ranger so I don’t really know but I’ve been looking through the traits and stuff to see what I should go for, and I’ve noticed that Beast Mastery tells me that each point increases the Pet Attributes by 1, so at 30 points each attribute would be raised by 30? If so, then this doesn’t seem worth it which is a shame since the whole reason I wanted to play a Ranger was because pets seem cool (and I’m having fun with them up until now)..
Hey welcome to the class!
It’s good fun, we can tank, support, dps, stealth and mess with peoples’ minds
There are lots of different builds to try like Shadix just said, though while levelling I would try out all the weapons really as I think they can all be used effectively (apart from maybe sceptre after the 50% confusion damage reduction…) and then see how you enjoy playing the class most
It can be a bit slow at the start since a lot of the builds are mainly built around the traits rather than stats or skills, but if you bear with it it’s great once you get higher.
Good luck with your Mesmer!
Hi ppl, i also have a confusion mesmer build, full exotic gear, all, i run normaly with staff, scepter and focus, all rabid and trinkets, and runes undead, do you think it’s possible to use this build and change the minimal stuff, the cheapest way? i was think only change the scepter, i have a sword and GS rampager exotic. do you think is viable?
Thnkx
Sounds good to me, I was thinking of trying out rampager weapons for a bit more precision and condition damage (at the moment my sword and torch are just rare for testing before buying exotic). I would maybe stick a few beserker/rampager trinkets in just to get a bit more punch from blurred frenzy but thats just me.
But i thought they had always attacked slower.. :/
Played the staff version today and yeah its great, i like the utility and survivability.. Won a few 1v2s and survived against more but yeah.
I was trying this and variations of it yesterday, and i love it! I also tried it with staff instead of GS (since i also have rabid from before the patch and thought staff lends itself to condition damage more) and it works great for survivability and confusing you opponent but the damage is a bit… meh. I also didnt know if the condition damage was worth it but you get in confusions aswell (even though its now half damage, it helps a bit i suppose..).
But basically the only thing i cared about was having fun with people and annoying the hell out of them until they got angry and made mistakes to let me win
EDIT: I’ve just seen the posts about condition duration now about clones so I’m thinking of trying out the staff again and giving it more of a go maybe with + con duration runes or some different trinkets or something, burning from clones also work with the idea behind the build
Thinking something like this:
(edited by Sedgy.5904)
I got my rabid set from Balthazar (legs, shoulders and headpiece are rabid I think), Khilbron’s gloves (cheapest part of the set… haha) and then I’m still waiting on the chest and the shoes.
I used to use full whispers armour which is rabid too, just it’s rare rather than exotic
I play a 0/20/20/0/30 conditions clones and confusion build with a staff and sword/focus, mainly because I find it most fun and it gives me a bit more toughness and a better chance to survive if I do something stupid (which still happens to me) xD
