Chill out dude. My best guess would be they’ll continue to implement changes on a weekly basis as the ranking adjust to match the weekly scale. Until things seem fairly even, I doubt they’ll go to two week matches.
Yeah because things got way more balanced when switching from 24 hour rotations to weekly rotations. Oh that’s right they got much worse because they exacerbated the problems of imbalanced populations over night. And guess what? It’ll get even worse under 2 week rotations.
If you think queues are bad in higher pop servers now, wait until the people waiting until they hit 80 to WvW start hitting 80.
While a scoreboard can be demoralizing if you are getting dominated or it can dissuade you from making a real effort if you are dominating, in close match ups it can provide the motivation you need to take those last few keeps/towers/supply camps before each tick.
If you log in and have no idea of your current position you don’t know how desperately you need to fight to get that next control point and it may end up causing players to put less effort in to taking stuff.
Just my 2 cents.
I think your idea would combo well with my idea. Immediately lock transfers to the “winning” servers while still allowing transfers to the other servers. With my idea of limited players on maps being limited by the smaller pop servers, this would further encourage those on the “winning” high pop servers to leave to the smaller servers. I think that together would help “push” people into better balancing the servers.
I like this idea a lot.
Edit: The only problem would be that, say if for example, HoD was locked for being a winning server and later it had a mass exodus due to guilds chasing shorter queues. Would Areanet then have to open up transfers to HoD while closing transfers to the new server these guilds transferred to?
Seems like a lot of work.

Transfers: I think instead of a total stop implementing a ‘hold’ on WvWing would work better. This would prevent players who just transferred from entering WvW for the remaining duration of the match. Or just put a 7 day limit on it.
This way friends could still join friends and be on the same server.
I think there also needs to be a longer delay as to how often someone can transfer. Instead of 24 hours make it at least 72 hours. Preferably a week before you can transfer again.
How many transfers does one person need to play on the same server as friends? I don’t agree with a 7 day limit for WvW. If anything an account should just be given 3 free transfers (to ensure they get on their friends servers). Anything after that should carry a real money fee.
Let’s face it the state of affairs WvW is in is very frightening for the future of this game and there doesn’t seem to be an easy fix. In fact there are tons of threads with players trying their hardest to come up with creative ways to “balance” this matchup, but I think we can all agree there are a couple of steps that absolutely NEED to be taken:
1. There needs to be an immediate halt for transferring to servers in the higher tier brackets. How fun would the NFL be to watch if every time a team had the potential to win the Super Bowl every body transferred just to get credit for it?
2. After this halt there needs to be a gradual and transparent plan to limit free transfers and ultimately eliminate them. AreaNet got themselves in a bad situation that is killing the sense of community within servers and we desperately need to see an exit strategy emerge.
3. If AreaNet continues with their laissez-faire position on letting server populations balance themselves then serious incentives need to be provided not only to guilds, but individual players as well. People need to be given good reasons to join a losing server other than shorter server queues. As we can see players would wait a day and a half to get into queues just to say, “Herpkittenlook how good I am my server is in first.”
TL;DR
As it stands I have no faith while these issues are unaddressed that we will see anything even remotely close to a balanced match up in WvW. Therefore I am terrified to getting locked into a match up that is 2 weeks long. Heck I’m already groaning about 1 week match ups being too painful.
Yep. Completely agree.
Oh you have all 3 orbs you obviously need more health.
Oh you’re outnumbered have some extra magic find, karma, and exp.
Poor decision making.
I’d be interested in what kind of gains they expect as far as performance as well. While this client is awesome for a beta client, I hope there will be a pretty significant performance increase or it is back to windows for me.
It’s just as boring being on the side that is up a couple 100k points. I’m on Dragonbrand and haven’t queued for wvw for just this reason. I hope the next rotation is more balanced, but I fear it will be the opposite. Dragonbrand will probably be up against much better servers that will be a couple 100k points up on us. It’s a brutal rotation exacerbated by the duration of wvw being lengthened imo.
Fix to night capping: organize people on your server who play late at night to hold your territory.
It’s a much better solution than complaining and waiting for someone else to hand you something.
It’s just as boring when you are completely dominating at nighttime. I hope that the server pairing gets better in the future, but I can’t imagine that all server imbalances will be squared away.
I guess, but once 2 week rotations start I have a bad feeling we will see a lot less motivation to keep trying if all progress is reversed at night.
Bow is up on Dzag (DE) xfer now if you want to get it.
Confirmed. Thank you so much!
Segment the WvWvW into two shifts. One shift would last half the day and the other shift the other half. Each half would have its own borderlands and own points.
After the first shift its status is saved and will resume after the second shift saves and ends.
I’m guessing this will not be the easiest to implement and may ruin the idea of a persistent world, but at least it would not penalize players for needing to sleep.
As ridiculous as this idea may seem, it is way better than suspending WvW overnight, diminishing points overnight, or restricting servers to timezones (which would leave Aussies and night shifters limited places to play)
Server transferring like a mad man but no dice. Hope the new build to fix this comes soon. That 99% world completion is taunting me.
Occasionally after logging rotating the camera with the the mouse will be bugged where it seems to enter the free camera mode and will not reset behind the character correctly. On top of that the camera seems to respond erratically so you cannot manually reposition it.
Anyone else getting this?
Also thank you so much for the mac client! I can’t wait until it is optimized and all the kinks are worked out!
