Looks like the spike is happening.
The best way to make money in GW2 is to post on reddit that you found a recipe, regardless of whether it is true or fake, after you have purchased all the materials in ludicrous amounts for 1/10 their now inflated price.

Use cantrips when you are in trouble. Stay in fire as pretty much anything in PVE die every quickly. Switch to attunements if things get messy.
this discussion as seemingly been in place since release or i don’t know but maybe even before that with bwe’s.. regardless.. i find both weapons to be great. i personally prefer 2hers over 1hers in this game (though i love sword scepter mace and the offhands as well). and i personally run with hammer AND gs. just because liek so many have mentioned hammer has a lot of CC, mb is too awesome and AoE triggers every 4 – 5 seconds is to die for if you play with people who know to drop fields when they see a hammer guard. GS is great for control, mobility and fast damage as well. each weapon works well against certain situations and enemies. no point picking one over the other. if OP doesn’t like hammer, that’s fine with them. why they had to come here to cry about it, i am impartial towards. just play with what you enjoy the most.

Each weapon is better than the other in certain situations, and everyone has their view on things. If you don’t like it don’t use it, if you can’t decide then use them all. I carry mace/shield & hammer with GS and staff in the bag to switch out when out of combat, depending on what is going on.
I’ve made one of each class and got 6 of them to 80, and each time its the same process.
Allocate the stats to suit your playstyle of that class.
Want to dive in and survive the fray? More Vit and Toughness.
Want to support? Boon duration and healing.
Want more DPS? Power, Prec, Crit Dmg.
Want to Hybrid? Mix and match the above stats.
There are a few stickied guides for beginners in this sub-forum that’s written very well and gives you a good outline of what we’re capable of and where to start.
Also, don’t stop there and just copy paste people’s builds, try new things, change traits, change gear, weapons, develop your own flavour of guardian.
I’m no expert, so here goes.

Not that I know of or experienced.
I suggest going Knights on all pieces, then adding more zerker if you need more dps or Soldiers if you need more survivability. Or adding other pieces inbetween until you reach a balance that suits your play style.
Damage aside, I love having a blast finisher on a 4 sec CD. In coordinated team play, especially WvW, where a combo field is available, hammer is absolutely amazing.

From the sounds of things, in relating to macros.
Its a Flat-out, no.
Keymapping is fine, macro is not.
Unless there is a situation that a macro can used, of which I cannot think of, as anything other than a keybind = “multi functions macro”.
So why would they word in such a manner is beyond me, it would’ve been easier to just say, “macros is no ok”….

Thanks Demosthene for that, I wasn’t quite sure whats safe and whats not. Guess its best to play it safe and just stick to keybinding to a comfortable key rather macros for repeat presses of the same key.
Depends on what you are planning to do once you hit 80.
I’ve been running around WvW with a Mace/Shield & Hammer build for a while, focusing on consecrations for CC and range attack blocking.

The strategy I use is to normally leap into the fray with JI+ RoW combo to capture some of the melee, continue the advance and setup Wall of reflection between the melee and ranged.
Once wall is up switch to Mace and shield to support the advancing melee mob by putting down the symbol and once WoR is gone put the bubble up, detonating it (do it at the end of the 4sec duration) for a quick heal and range denial.
The group support is amazing as there isn’t a 5 target limit to the range blocks from the shield and consecrations.

Just clarifying point recently made regarding macros.
It states that creating a macro to perform multiple actions is not ok, sure no problems.
But what about creating a macro that repeatedly enters a keystroke for a single action?
e.g. macroing mouse button 4 so when its held down emulates me bashing the “Skill 1” button?
It still performs one action, but reduces the wear and tear of the keyboard/mouse. (And less cramping in the hands….)
“This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
For example, if you Press A and it results in the casting of a single skill, you’re ok. If you Press A and it casts multiple spells, you’re not ok.”
