I was banned 9/7/2012 Un-banned 9/8/2012 Thanks for the Quick support. Hang in there guys. Dig around in this thread, i think its Page 9. There is a link to another thread by GailGray . Post your Ticket there. I believe that is how i got such a fast Response. They are working on it guys trust me i was in your shoes just a day ago.

The longer I’m out, the more I realize the game wasn’t that fun at all, too. Single-player grinding with the occassional “everyone’s farming in the same place” “dynamic” “quest?” No differentiation between races? No class roles, turning dungeons into a disorganized mob of attackers?
And the customer service is the worst I’ve ever encountered.
The safest thing to do is not use chat at all. If you accidentally offend someone—even in Guild chat!—by saying “poop,” they’ll report you and get you banned for 2 weeks.

They removed the 72 Hour promise from the game update this morning. It’s good to see what kind of company ArenaNet really is.

“Change the promise, then! And don’t bother me anymore, Lance and I are busy swimming in the cash we’ve earned by banning people for saying ‘poop’ in private chat!”

Also, once you’re unbanned, don’t use chat. Your “first offense” penalty for anything someone reports in chat is a 9-day ban, according to a guildmate. It’s like the entire game is run by a bitter 3rd grade schoolteacher rather than professionals.
My account was hacked. I had merged it with my Guild Wars (1) account, since prior to this debacle, I was a huge Guild Wars / ArenaNet fan. It’s worth noting that neither of those are true anymore.
Both the email address AND the password were unique to Guild Wars.
The Chinese still got my account.
And I’m still waiting for resolution… nearly a week later.
I’ll never speak ill of the 3 hours I spent on hold with Blizzard to resolve an authentication issue again. Ever. At the time, it was worse than the DMV. Now, it seems like a pleasant walk in the park.
Thanks for taking down the 72 Hour promise you can’t keep. It really clarifies what kind of a business you’re running.

There’s a silver lining to my hacked-banned account. In another 100, when the ticket is finally resolved after almost two weeks, I’ll log in and find:
No one is responding via the ticket system.
Lance will be with you shortly.
I ask because my guildmate just spent 9 days being banned for a completely unknown reason (never got ANY insight as to why) but the only possible reason (aside from a 100% glitch) is that he said something wrong in Guild Chat. However, him and I are the only 2 members of the guild and I certainly didn’t report him. So his account was banned for 9 days for either No Reason or because there is an automated monitor in the Guild Chat.
9 days? Holy kitty! If that’s what ArenaNet considers a “brief suspension,” how long is the “lengthy suspension,” 4 years?

Don’t worry. Your ban is taking so long to overturn since it took so much effort to ban it. That’s why they need the full 72 hours.

Their solution to my RMT-banned account was to change my password. Gee, thanks. Now I can get to the incomplete error screen using my new unique password instead of the old unique password.

Here’s a hint: They’ve got your money. They don’t even have to grant you “free game time” or anything else if it takes them too long to resolve your issues. There is literally NO REASON for them to work on any of these tickets faster. They can spout off their claims of resolution within 72 hours every morning… heck, they could have said 1 hour… what are you going to do about it?
Nothing. That’s what. There’s no phone number. There’s no address. There’s nothing you can do, and they know it.
Except for buying a second account, which is probably the goal.

If you used a credit card, have them begin the paperwork for a chargeback once you meet the criteria. You’re unhappy with the product (obviously) and the remediation offered by the merchant (Best Buy + ANet) has clearly been misleading and unacceptable (“We’re resolving prioritized hacked account tickets within 72 hours.”). You’d be surprised how the credit card company will go to bat for you, since they want you to be happy with them… and spending money through them.
Discover Card had my paperwork ready to go within 72 minutes. I just have to decide when to file it at this point.
