I gotta agree. When I tried the HoT story content with melee weapons, I died very frequently. As soon as I switched to a rifle (as warrior), it became much easier. If you don’t have at least a ranged weapon as 2nd option, you’re gonna have a bad time.

In WvW you will also struggle with a pure melee build. Melees only work in other MMOs in PvP because healers can keep them alive and they because they have increased survivability. Of course you could go for a toughness vitality build but then you’ll lack damage and still need a healer which don’t really exist in GW2.

Honestly: Go play Sims. I’ve seen Housing in LotRO and it is horrible. It basically isolates the players which is just wrong in a MMORPG. Plus it’s wasted resources which could be invested in new maps, dungeons w/e.

I’m not talking about the gliders which are fine but the wings as back item look so ridiculous and don’t really match the original style of GW1 imo. Should’ve left them in Aion.

This would need a re-design for every helmet skin adapted to each and every hair style.

As someone who just recently returned to GW2 (after 3-4 years) I might be able to give you the view of a newbie:

Playing HoT for the 1st time felt extremely frustrating sometimes (Note: I played as a warrior). Unfair mob numbers and combinations often gave me a headache, especially in the Personal Story (e.g. last mission where you gotta fight vs Canach, Eir and that other Sylvari gal and the mission where you gotta save Logan and that Asura). Sometimes I had to revive multiple times in a row just to do a little bit damage each time. The AI of your companions is also pretty bad, sometimes they decide to revive you, other times they completely ignore you. Also the maps in HoT are very confusing (due to many different planes) but that’s another story.

I don’t want to run brain-afk through the personal story but I do want to run over the maps without having to worry to die every moment even though I’m using the streets (i.e. no more mushroom mobs, thank you!).

Ebon Vanguard Greatsword is also quite nice. Simple but nice design.

The legendaries however are one of the ugliest ingame imo. Even if I had one, I’d probably transmute it. Their only plus is the special effect when swinging (which can be annoying for other players).

WvW Maps are way too big, running there is really boring. Gliding was a nice start but I really hope for mounts. But then again they should do it like gliding, only allowed in controlled territories. I don’t want a raptor army in front of my garrison.

Necro Reaper is basically ez mode for PvE right now.
