I still feel like the best solution is to get rid of the scoring all together. Make the current realm bonuses relative to the current amount of castle / keeps / towers / camps possessed. Then to “catch up”, all you have to do is go grab some keeps and towers – then you have more bonuses…simple. The orbs will help the people who have them defend better the objectives they worked hard to take. Eventually, if you cut off supplies – any objective will ultimately fall.
No one needs the title of commander. Just let the guilds buy their rally points and give them commander features – simple as that. Then we can quit measuring our kittens.
How about we just quit keeping score all together? The only thing the score does is determine your server bonuses, which keep going up up up. Make it so the amount of Castles / Keeps / Towers / Camps determine your current server bonuses – an ever fluctuating amount. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that at the end of the week, no one cares which server has the highest “score” – Everyone is more interested in balanced WvW and competitive fights. If you take away the ever growing score that makes you feel like you can’t come back, and you make those server bonuses dynamic and dependent on your current objective count – you let people excel during their prime time and give their server bonuses during their prime time. The score should go away, in turn getting rid of the score per “turn”. You want a dynamic game? This is how you make it dynamic, and get rid of the huge giant shadow of 300k – 40k – 30k. Obviously match up balancing needs to continue, but once it’s there – there’s no reason to keep score – do the above.
MVP transferred to Blackrock – so have fun on your kitten kitten kitten server.
How about we just get rid of the universal commander icon all together, and we make it the guild emblem – so people will quit arguing about who should and should not get it and whether you are or aren’t a noob for having one, or how much skill is required to call yourself a commander. Have each guild’s emblem show up for whoever they designate – call it a guild rally point, and implement the commander features etc..
I’m not fit to say that I played the game, because I don’t want this to be a DAOC clone? lol. Dude, not everything about DAOC was bliss. Why can’t this game be its own game? They’ve obviously tried to take a little bit of everything and put it into play. Why do you want realm ranks and the like? So we can have bridge campers feeding off new players again? lol. DAOC killed itself by turning the game into something that required MONTHS of work to have a viable character in RvR if you were just starting. Don’t be naive.
As a former DAOC player, I feel like this post is no different than complaining about why GW2 isn’t WoW. I don’t want to play WoW, and if I want a DAOC clone, I’ll play DAOC instead. They haven’t even locked the servers down yet – let it evolve.
Yaks has a large pacific playerbase, so they take everything while the rest of us are in bed.
Yak’s Bend – 466000
Darkhaven – 90k
Anvil Rock – 80k
Can you at least tell us the match ups?
Nah, Yaks needs to get lost and go somewhere else – you guys have way too many people to be paired with our two servers. Catch MVP in an even fight and we will slaughter you.
We also have the only commander that I’m aware of.
I’m not the voice of our server – I can only speak for MVP, which is the largest and most proactive guild on Anvil Rock.
I’ll tell you what Darkhaven needs to do – They need to quit attacking Anvil Rock and start focusing on Yaks. They have 3x more people than both of our servers combined. So when we advance on our side of a borderland – you should probably not hit us in the backs – instead going to your side of the map and splitting their forces. I’m in Unbreakable MVP – the best guild on Anvil Rock – and we’re willing to work with anyone on Darkhaven to turn our situation around. unbreakableguild.com
No, we’re also discussing the dynamics of the feature and its effect on WvW.
Just because you’re trying to be a different MMO doesn’t mean you get rid of the good things.
This feature should do more things – some very basic quality of life things you would expect from a “raid mode”.
Further, why would we want people to be able to freely join the squad – aren’t all of those people together anyways in team chat? Arenanet – You guys need to think this one through again. Our guild is MVP on Anvil Rock. We want our money back at this point.
Arenanet – this is absolutely unacceptable. Our guild rallied together and mustered up 100 gold to get this book so we could try to better organize the guild and server in WvW. We paid the 100 gold, after having people get account locks trying to move the money around to get it to the person we wanted to get the book. He buys the book and what happens? He gets a blue icon over his head, and we can all join “squad” chat. He gets some extra things he can mark on the map. That’s it. You would expect, at the very very absolute least for 100g, that we would be able to see everyone in the squad on the map as a different color. Or even better, a separate color for each party in the squad. You guys failed on this – as it stands right now, the commander’s book is a complete rip off and serves absolutely no purpose. This needs to be fixed immediately, or I assure you will have more upset guilds, or people will not even use it at all.
