This issue isn’t Nvidia specific, Both the 7xxx series AMD cards and 6XX series Nvidia cards are having the same issue. It seems the game isn’t stable on the biggest and best video cards atm.
I have an HD radeon 7970 and am having the exact same issue. I feel like this is on arena net’s end. I also have issues with my camera jumping into my characters polygons and whenever a snowflake or something goes through the camera it freaks out.
Honestly, unless you plan on downloading hd movies and have a music library the size of Rhode Island, you might as well take the money for the 2 TB and buy a decently sized solid state drive.
I had this same problem during pre-release, all I had to do was restart client and it worked. Not sure whats causing the issue though.
I submitted a report to AMD, I’ll check in here if I get an e-mail or any kind of update from them.
It seems to be an issue whenever the floor textures are at “sea level” aka a flat surface as apposed to a hilly region with a grass texture. Whenever there are polygons on the ground it isn’t an issue. When its a texture on a flat surface the gridlines are very apparent. I’ve also noticed other issues with the HD 7xxx Drivers.
Has anyone tried rolling back to older drivers?
I’ve tried tweaking every setting in CCC, to no avail.
I’ve tried the CAP2, no change.
No graphic setting in game rly deals with tessellation….
I’m at a loss, until AMD acknowledges this in a driver update, I don’t see an easy solution.
Also there seams to be an issue with ground clutter not rendering at certain camera angles.
Along with this bug, I’m also seeing a very jarring issue with the camera at the moment. Whether or not free cam is on (this setting doesn’t change anything for me), my camera always zooms into my character’s polygons whenever there’s any kind of wall or gathering node or character or mob or scenery behind me. It’s getting really annoying, since I’m getting headaches from it.
Specs:
– 2x Xeon Quad Core Processors 2.26GHz (8 physical cores)
– Asus HD Radeon 7970 Direct CUII @ stock settings
– 12GB DDR3 RAM (6 × 2GB Modules, Triple channel)
– 256 OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
In anticipation for the release of GW2 I purchased a brand new Asus HD Radeon 7970 DCUII. This was an upgrade from my 6970. While playing I"ve run into several performance issues and they seem very sporadic. Lately everything seems to be falling apart. My FPS is very inconsistent ranging from 15 to 120. Whenever I’m on a flat surface I see grid lines running through all parts of the polygons. I get random screen flashes and my camera zooms in randomly. I get light blue windows through sides of polygons where they join others. Sometimes I’m running the game at 60fps solid and full graphics. Other times I can barely play, its so choppy. Amount of people and movement doesn’t seem to effect things. Sometimes I get good performance in large groups. Other times I’m all alone and 15fps. Lowering graphic settings doesn’t increase fps. Sometimes I get better performance at higher graphic settings.
My question is, should I RMA this card, or is this just something with software/drivers?
The initial league of legends download installs it automatically. It can be removed safely by using “Programs and Features” in the control panel and simply uninstalling. If anything needs to use it, it will install again.
from the people who are posting, I assume this means its a compatibility issue with the hd radeon 7xxx drivers? I can’t be certain, but that seems to be the trend.

What is the RPM on your 500GB HDD? Is the sound a constant whine, or a intermittent scratchy sound? This almost sounds like your hard drive is going bad or your power supply has some blown caps.
Good to know that I won’t see them, however they haven’t helped at all. I’ve tried running on lowest graphics, I’ve tried turning shadows off completely, this hasn’t changed anything. I get the same performance, regardless of graphical settings. It is definitely running in an x16 port slot and gpu-z is reporting x16 bus @ x16
I will have to check the bios for power saving options, so far i’ve turned off intel speed step, but i haven’t messed with pci power setting yet. I am running on high performance power settings. I have 8 physical cores, no hyperthreading.
I’m having this exact same issue with the exact same card, except my fps ruberbands between 20 and 55fps, I tried installing application profiles and it doesn’t seem to have actually added any profiles o_0
Not sure if this will help, but your page file seems off, try right clicking My Computer > Properties > Advanced Tab > Performance Section > Click “Settings” > Advanced Tab > Virtual Memory > Click “Change” > Select “System Managed” > Click “Set” > Click “Ok”
Your computer should restart, not sure if this will help with fps, but your computer will run better.
80 is actually rly low for a 6990 on full load. Just be happy you’re running the game smoothly with full GPU usage.
I’m having the exact same issue.
System Specs for ThinkStation D20:
– 2 x Intel Xeon Quad Core Processors, 8 Cores @ 2.26 GHz
– HD Radeon 7970, 3GB GDDR5, Stock Speeds
– 256GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD (boot drive)
– 12GB Corsair DDR3 Ram, 6 × 2GB Modules, 3 per CPU, Triple Channel
Max settings except for native sampling and high instead of ultra on shadows.
Lowering settings doesn’t seem to change anything as far as fps or bugs go.
Latest drivers (12.8 and CAP2)

Also, just my 2 cents, aint no shame in running MSE, its light, free, and integrates with windows firewall.
Just a fly on the wall here, but I work for a computer repair shop and we run into issues with avg and mse fighting all the time. The issue is, if both are installed or there was a previous install of AVG, MSE installed over the top will cause these kinds of hickups. Also AVG tends to be very bad about uninstalling properly, especially the paid or full version. I believe there was a lawsuit towards an anti-virus company for not uninstalling their software properly, so anti-virus companies now offer removal tools to avoid such a lawsuit. You can find a removal tool for AVG’s software at:

Max settings except for supersampling, lowering settings doesn’t seem to change anything as far as fps goes.
I just purchased the video card and am experiencing very low fps. I put out the money for the best card I could find from AMD, and I expected better. The game runs at about 30fps average. When I’m out by myself it jumps between 10 and 55fps and when I’m in groups it goes anywhere from 10 to 30fps. On top of this I notice strange flickering and light blue artifacting and grids showing up during gameplay. My card doesn’t seem to be working very hard at all when this game is up, and it runs furmark at 55fps solid with no artifacting. It plays Diablo 3 at a solid 60fps with no artifacting, no matter how big them hordes of demons get. Experiencing the anomalies during gameplay made me want to RMA the new card, but seeing as it passes benchmarks with flying colors, I’m hoping there is something software side that I can do to remedy this.
