when you’re walking home from the shops with your wife and find yourself circle strafing her and watching out for incoming trying to gank your supply yak.
also….when you refer to your wife as your supply yak….that didn’t end well

Ty everyone for the fun week, here is our tuesday golem rush.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFk2KtKj1O0
It might have taken us 50 golems totals, and it might not have been the smoothest golem run with all the randoms, but in the end, it was 100% worth it.
Awesome stuff Obsy, too bad I missed out.
Curse my lousy day job!

@Myrmidone Im currently looking at the live score and we won’t face Kodash next week ^^ you maybe made a mistake in some way.
I think he meant Piken will be up against Kodash tbh.
I’ve not been around for much of this match but what I have taken part in has been some of the most fun i’ve had in a while. Thank you to both Fort Ranik and Riverside for being such great opponents. Hope we’ll meet each other again soon.

It’s called Alt+F4 and I agree it’s pretty pathetic…but I don’t think there is anything Anet can realistically do about it.

Another good day for Piken Square. Some trully outstanding defending around lunchtime. Special commendation goes to the defenders of Durios that held a tower with no walls against a 30+ AR Zerg on four consecutive occasions. Each time we wiped the invaders there was a desperate scramble to replace any lost siege before the zerg returned. Epic last ditch stuff.
The only negative was JS and their general lack of tactics in EB. I’m fairly comforatble saying this now that the match is pretty much won, but you guys need a better shtick. Every time it’s the same thing with you, sweep through Ograth, take umber and the suicide on Durios. Rinse, repeat ad infinitum. Every 10-15 minutes you’d be back doing excactly the same thing and every time you’d wipe and yet nothing ever varied, other than perhaps some times you’d try Bravost instead. I’m not really complaining because it’s been easy for us to defend, but really, it’s boring as hell!
Anyway, Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow. (hopefully not literally from JS)

Well, so far today has been fairly one sided. Well done to AR for being extremley aggresive and yet organized. I hope some hard lessons have been learnt today by PS and that we’ll do better tomorrow morning. I’m fairly confident that during “peak” hours we’ll be more than holding our own, but it’s during the quieter periods that we need to really up our game.
Still enjoying the match though, had some really good fights against both servers.

Why you make duplicate topic
They don’t seem as talkative as the last servers were faced
hence why my topic got buried. But yeah, I’d have to agree, it seems pretty close so far, although I suspect during the week we’ll dominate at primetime like we always do.
because I couldn’t find one.
I shal hang my head in shame

Got to agree, a well played Mesmer is a certifiable nightmare to be up against! Even a poorly played one can still be immensley helpful with their portal skill.

T5 Matchup has been great fun so far!
As a Piken player I have a grudgin respect for our opponents. They have both proved to be tenacious and organized servers. Aside from reset night where we were dominating I think this has been a very close battle! Here’s to hoping it keeps up for the duration.

I considered the idea of making oil remotley operated but decided that would be unfair. If you’re a bow or spell slinger you should be able to try and pick off the guy pouring the oil. Likewise it should be up to the defenders to turtle up over that player or to keep the ranged folks pinned down.

but then it just becomes a glorified popularity contest. I know plenty of lousy commanders in big guilds that would still probably get a commander title due to the size of the guild they are in.
I’d be much happier if the Commander rank was based on achievements rather than wealth or popularity. Make it something that is awarded to players who have X number of kills plus have captured X locations/used X siege…etc. True you’d still get a few dodgy badges, but at least if it was based on achievements people could be sure that the commander they’re following has at least got a serious amount of WvW experience. In the past week i’ve come across two seperate commanders that needed directions around the map or didn’t know what the orange swords on the map indicated.
Personally, I make a point to know my realms commanders and to know which one’s are good and which one’s are going to waste our time/resources. The real problem isn’t that we have some lousy commanders, it’s that we have players that blindly follow that blue dot around and don’t use a modicum of common sense.
Very good point. I didn’t think about how guilds would affect this. Having the point and achievement system like you put out is a pretty good idea, but it should also be voluntary. I know a lot of great guys in WvW who are high up there, but most just stick to the shadows.
The only drawback is that after a while even the casual WvW player will achieve the rank and then it becomes meaningless. So perhaps some combination of the two. Nominations based on those who have the experience, rather than just being able to nominate anybody for Commander you’d have to have the achievement first? Could all get a bit complicated tbh.
Either way, it would have to be voluntary. I would never want to have one of those blue dots, regardless of whether or not I met the criteria! I’m much happier complaining about how much certain ones suck than actually trying to do better myself.

No AoE damage through doors is the only answer. If Cata’s shouldn’t disrupt rams then attackers AoE’ing the door from the outside shouldn’t effect repairs. Otherwise taking a fortified position becomes far too easy. After all, historically, attacking a castle was spectacularly difficult without overwhelming numbers and equipment.
Personally I’d go for the removal of AoE through doors on the provision that the HP pool on oil pots was drastically increased, to the point where it’s pointless trying to take them out. If Cata’s can’t damage attacking rams then Oil pots are the only viable (and historically accurate) form of defence. Manning them should still be tough under enemy fire, but currently they are destroyed so easily that they might as well not exist. The only function they currently serve is to give the defenders an extra minute or two to get defenders in whilst the oil pot is nuked down and rams go up.

I had the same bug this morning after the patch went live. I followed the advice in this thread and kept the NPC’s alive whilst never initiating combat and following Trahearne all the way. Everything went according to plan on the second attempt and I encountered no bugs.

Likewise, rather frustrating actually…
