You guys mean to tell me all gem shop gathering tools are supposed to work on all characters simultaneously without having to juggle the tool between characters?
No. You only get one per purchase. You have to juggle them around no matter what (or put them in shared inventory slots).
That’s why I was comparing it to the new items like the cosmic mining tool, which becomes your standard mining item for all characters at once, not just one at a time.
I don’t think that is the case. I don’t have the Cosmic, but I was under the impression that it was a single item that needs to be equipped to be used, so even though all your characters can use it only one can use it at a time.
Unless I’m incorectly reading both the in game description of the item in the gem shop and the description on the gw2 wiki, I’m pretty sure it works simultaneously on all characters.

So a lot of the new gathering tools (currently going for 1000 gems unless on sale) are items that will straight up replace the mining slot (or others) with an item that can gather from all nodes of that type on all of your characters. Will there be any retroactive changes to the old mining tools that players likely bought for the same price (for example, the Bone Pick) to also encompass this new truly ‘account bound’ experience? I just found it to be rather strange that all of the newer items have this functionality while all of the old ones are stuck to being used on one character at a time.
This might just me being petty, but has anyone else thought about this? Comments?
Hmmm, I don’t believe I should have a problem like that. At launch, my computer ran GW2 just fine. Granted, its been three years and things change, game-wise, my computer remains identical, minus the wear of time.
Hey guys, I have a question I hope to have answered. I remember played GW2 since launch, and that was around the time I got my new desktop PC (obviously not so new anymore). My question is why there might be such a radical difference in fps between my desktop and laptop? My laptop, running medium to high settings, sits around 30-35ish FPS in the new HoT maps (aka full of players and explosions). My desktop, on the other hand, in the same places and graphics settings, runs at about 10 fps. Anyone know why this could be?
For clarity, here are the specs of my two devices:
Laptop
Processor: Intel Octocore (8 things pop up, dunno if that’s right) i7-4710 2.5GHz (I don’t think it has any overclocking, its a Lenovo computer)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 860M
Desktop
Processor : Intel Quadcore i5 3570, 3.4 (overclocked to 4.4, its a custom built rig)
Graphics card: AMD Raedon HD 6900 series.
Any thoughts or ideas? I just think its weird my desktop does EVERYTHING better than my laptop ‘except’ for playing GW2.
