Just an update… it’s still bugged. Both warth mask and death mask, not sure about any other ‘facial/eye’ masks.

Remember when a dev posted in here saying they were going to “look into it” over a year ago? yeah, me too

Sadly this isn’t getting the attention it needs. It’s quite discouraging. I urge you to repost here to keep this going so that WE can have this issue resolved.

Here’s what we know so far

-It’s not a global issue. Meaning that it does not affect everyone.
-It started to occur after a patch roughly a year ago, possibly longer.
-Kirk Williford of the ArenaNet QA Team had mentioned he was looking into it, and there has yet been no response since.

For those of us with this issue it is rather annoying and a let down. After all, a large part of this game is the aesthetics.

Thanks again to anyone working to resolve this. And to those of you with this issue, please keep posting here!

Dear ArenaNet QA team,

I’ve been dealing with this issue for over a year now, submitted in game bug reports and a bug report through the website. I keep getting stone walled and told,

“I understand that it can be frustrating not to see immediate results based on your in-game or forum report. Keep in mind that even if we are able to verify a bug report, it can take time to fully kitten the issue, develop a means to amend it, and then implement that “bug fix” into the game. The exact amount of time can vary widely based on the severity and complexity of each issue."

However as we can see, this issue stems back quite a while and there seems to have been zero progress in resolving it.

Mr Kirk Williford, than you for addressing the issue and mentioning that your team will be looking into this issue. Please update us on the progress or if there is a fix for this. It’s only certain people that seem to have this bug and not across the board.

It is rather frustrating for those of us that are affected by this bug. We are looking very forward to this becoming resolved.

The Devs have already explained why they could not make those clothes into Armor skins.

I keep seeing people defend the Anet developer’s inability to fix the town clothing, as if they were in the room working with them. “It’s impossible to program”, “they don’t have the time”, “they don’t have the money”, “the bumpmap/shading/illumination/mask just doesn’t work…”

This thing is, for anyone who works with editing computer models, this is not very believable.

No matter how you look at it, people expected the town cloths to evolve into one of two different directions.

Direction #1 – The town clothes stay the same as the old system

It’s not believable that they couldn’t implement this, since it was already implemented. It would take more effort to remove from the game than to leave it in the game as-is.

As a matter of fact, everyone who has not seen the town-to-tonic converter yet still has their original town cloths in the same equipment window as they’ve always had; they’ve just been locked out of it.

Direction #2 – The town clothes are imported into the new Wardrobe system

It’s not believable that they couldn’t pull this off either as the only thing in the code that separates the light, medium, and heavy is a flag somewhere in the system. This isn’t like trying to smash a square peg into round hole, it’s akin to changing a field in a spreadsheet. It is EXTREMELY easy.

It would have been more honest of them to say that they didn’t want light, medium, and heavy to all have the same looking Cherry Blossom Shirt. The player base wouldn’t have like that answer either, but it would have been more honest.

If you want a refund, submit a ticket. If you want to use the tonics, then do not submit a ticket.

It’s been said before, and I’ll say it again. Getting gems back for something you paid cash for is not a refund. It’s a bait & switch scam.

I completely agree with you on this Porterhouse.6304, thank you for your well worded post. Clear and concise. Tired of trolls defending bad decisions made by ArenaNet.

I put in a ticket and was DENIED my gem refund. 700 gems worth of items!!! Totally worthless now. But if this is how ArenaNet want’s to be, then fine, I’m done with buying gems and supporting this company. I didn’t have a problem with it before as I felt that it’s supporting them through the microtransactions system.

This move to sully town clothing, making them into tonics and onesies has completely ruined that element of the game for me and many, many others.

I’m pretty irritated by this change too. This is a huge middle finger to the RP’ers and anyone who just enjoyed the ability to change it up a little. What a waste of gems/real money. Well, no more buying gems and wasting money on this game, if that’s the attitude they’re adopting then fine!

Every poor sucker that bought any form of town clothing should get refunded in gems. Since they’ve taken the liberty of totally f’ing up the ability to mix and match tops with legs, boots and hats. We spent money on that crap that is now just useless!

The dye and armor pieces added to the overall account wardrobe was a huge bonus, good job there.

And now for the NOT SO GOOD JOB, Town Clothes. This is where you guys f’ed up big time.

This change is awful for those of us that enjoy the “Town Clothing” aspect of the game. As mentioned by other posters, the inability to mix and match town clothing items of different outfits has really rendered this (town clothing) feature somewhat useless.

That was the main allure to purchasing costume pieces from the GEM STORE. The ability to come up with a few interesting combinations. But thanks to you guys (ArenaNet) you’ve ruined this experience for those of us that enjoy Town Clothing.

It seems that when people who favor the Town Clothing that enjoy this aspect of the game speak up, we’re trolled by people who do not and find it not to their liking. Remember, this is a feature YOU guys put in the game and that YOU’VE continued to benefit from financially when we buy these pieces.

I used to have the Aviator Sunglasses with the Hoodie and Kahki shorts and a pair of riding boots, but now you’ve crammed the riding boots and that Kahki shorts into on “tonic” outfit. Come on SERIOUSLY?!?! >:-(
This wouldn’t be a big issue, but I like many many others have spent real money on these darn items and now they’re ruined.

ArenaNet, you guys always say how keen you are to hear your community on issues and changes, so this is the feedback. Take notes and please change the Town Clothes back to the way they used to be! PLEASE!

The changes to town clothing are awful! These “tonics” are a joke. Gone are the days of mix and match and enjoying the combinations you could come up with. Bad bad move Anet!

Hey ArenaNet!

We’ve all experienced this, new content is released and then everyone and their mother pitches up at an event and as a result there is an overflow. A great example is the fairly new Tequatl Rising event. In some cases some servers have overflows for their overflows. So here’s a proposal, mirror this event on overflows, so that all the people stuck there can at least get it done. Please work on this, we’re eager to experience this content. (waiting half an hour to an hour is down time none of us are particularly keen to partake in)

Since the NPC is no longer around to turn in audio logs……WHY ARE THESE THINGS STILL IN THE GAME?!

Looking at the Black Lion Trading Company gem store (under the style section) really leaves one to wonder, why is there such a bare selection for town clothing, especially for female characters. There are no dresses or other elegant clothes available.

It’s understandable that there are people that have no use for this but it is currently a feature that some of us love about the game. Hoping that there are others that would join in with requesting dresses for the ladies.

Please bring the chests back, they were awesome!!!

Blah, blah, blah…..when can we expect an fix on this? Been going on for weeks now and these disconnects (especially in Wayfarer Foothills during the Frozen Maw world boss) are getting a tad bit frustrating.

As with other MMO’s there is usually a feature to do a search for other players on the same map as you are on. For instance by typing /who, a box could pop up showing you all the other players in your zone. That way you could group up with them.

There are so many people who want more options and vendors in game to sell different town clothing. Currently all I’ve found is items in the black lion trading post for gems. Yet I have no desire to wear any of that crap. There are some amazing designs. Case in point Countess Anise has a very sexy outfit.

Come on Arenanet. We want more town clothes. There are plenty you guys could add and have in game vendors sell. Seriously, add some new content please!
