Now here is a list of Anets official retailers that did sell keys at the release of GuildWars2 it’s not clear if they are officially allowed to sell HoT keys:

Now if you bought a key from anywhere else besides the official sites you most likely got scammed and its on you to get your money back If you can. Anet will not oner fraudulent keys, good luck

Man I don’t know why you keep posting without reading other peoples posts…. many people who have the problem bought the game from Anet store. Many others from official retailers…

It looks like to me, looking through all the related threads on this issue is with purchasing the game from a third party vendor or retailer. the one that stand out the most is G2Play.net so there you go that’s why I’m posting this info and yes I do read that’s why I posted this here because a few stated they didn’t buy from the official GuildWars2 site.

It wasn’t really G2Play fault though, there was one fraudulent seller there from which I bought, seems everyone else did too. They already banned him and everyone can get a refund. Not defending anyone, just to get clear.

I checked. It’s true that you said. Hopefully they will lift the suspension for everyone afflicted with that fradulent seller.

As I can see, I’m not the only one having this problem.
My account got suspended and I sent a ticket but got no reply.

Now here is my situation: I got the expansion pack from my sister as a birthday gift. She couldn’t be there for me so she bought the game from The Netherlands and gifted it to me. I activated it a week ago from Romania and there was no problem with it. I even got the “Thank you for your purchase” mail. But now I’m suspended and the expansion pack was unlinked from my account.
Is it possible that they made a confusion and thought I stole the code because of the 2 different locations/E-mails/and other infos?

Also she bought it from the official website.

Since Romania and the Netherlands are both members of the EU, it should not matter. At least law wise in terms of EULA. Your sister has “gifted” you the license. It is perfectly legal. So I guess there must have been some confusion or you are victim of a strict anti-scam system operating with a sledgehammer.

If haven’t already done so. Submit a ticket, explain the situation and hope this issue can resolved as fast as possible. The Maguma Jungle awaits you!

I already submitted a ticket on Friday asking what the problem was and for how long I was suspended. But I got no reply. First I thought it was because of my strange activity log… Since I changed more locations lately… but then I saw that Heart of Thorns was deactivated, so there must be a problem with that, right?

Keep in mind due to many people experiencing the same issue and the launch of the expansion which brings subsequently many bugs, A-Net does have much resources to answer quickly. It took them 12 hours in my case to answer to one of my e-mails.

Sorry, this might be a dumb question, but is the response you mentioned coming from ANet? Have they told you they will lift your ban? Or did you mean the website you bought your HoT key from?

There is a difference between a ban and a suspension. They did not give any indication as to when my suspension will be liften.

I will copy and paste what they wrote to me:

“Hello,

I’m sorry but we cannot assist with this request as the code in question was purchased from an unauthorized reseller. I can only recommend that you request a full refund from them. If they are not willing to assist you, please get help from your financial institution for reclaiming the funds from this unauthorized reseller.

Note to myself: Only buy an expansion from MMOs at recognized dealers in the future.

Honestly at this point I don`t care about the game anymore. I don`t think I`m ever going to play any games from them if they choose to treat thier player base like this. I just want an official answer from them to my ticket so I can get my money back from retailer. Because they won`t do anything if I don`t show them proof.

Keep in mind that expansion just has been released with all sorts of possible minor issues.
Reports and support tickets are flooding in by thousands during the day.
There’s no way that a company can answer to all of them within a short time span. All you can do is wait and hope the issue gets resolved.

No..i bought game code from elsewhere..only reason i can think of why my whole account is now suspended..never had problems with other game codes tho for that well known site.Not holding my breath at mo to getting it unsuspended :P

I have the same issue.

While it is legal to buy a key from g2play or similiar sites, at least under the law of the European Union following a rouling of the European Court of Justice. There’s always the risk that the keys may be fraudulent.

But I do have to keep in mind that you may live overseas, thus having different laws regarding EULAs.

Also, it ought to be kept in mind that the account may have suspended been for different reasons, which just happened in light of the release of the expansion.
